Chapter 42

Myles POV

Lily started pacing the room when Ben left. “Baby, it’s fine he said he wouldn’t say anything.” Everyone was watching her in silence. The only thing you could hear was her footsteps and the crunching sound of the damn popcorn bag that Amber and Louise had.

“What if he snaps and tells his mom or what if he takes matters into his own hands. You know how he can be. Let’s not pretend like he doesn’t do crazy s**t when it comes to me.”

I knew she was right, no matter how much I hated it. I knew Ben would do anything when it comes to Lily, and she had every right to be worried ,it does seem to cloud his judgment.

Amber tried to distract Lily. She could tell I was starting to get worried about her stress levels with the pups. “So I’m gonna have a niece?”

Lily finally stopped pacing and smiled and nodded. “Yeah, and a nephew.”

Amber beamed with excitement. “One of each that’s perfect.”

“Yeah, your brother is already warning me that he’s going to want more, and these two haven’t even made their entrance yet. They are already causing me enough worry.”

“Does our mom and dad know yet?”

“No, not yet. We just found out yesterday when they were checking out the pups.”

“Well, they will be over the moon excited.”

Lily finally sat down in a chair, and Amber handed her a juice and a snack. I mouthed “Thank you” to her. She just gave me a small smile. I knew I could always count on her. I hate that we almost lost her. It seems at times she’s the only person that can calm Lily down.

Lily finished her juice and snack and looked over at Louise. I think she just now realized that Louise heard everything.

“I’m really sorry you had to hear all of that, Louise. You probably think we’re all crazy.”

She shook her head. “I don’t think any of you are crazy. Well, maybe Amber slightly.”

Conner, Brody, and i all snorted that she was spot on with this one.

“I think Luna Meghan is the crazy one. I honestly had no idea that she could be so capable of something like this. She hides herself well. I mean, she seemed overprotective when I first met her, but I thought that was because she wanted Ben to be with his fated mate. But I don’t think it would have mattered if Lily wasn’t. She still would have pushed those two together.”

Amber sighed loudly. “Maybe it’s all the painkillers, but I actually think I feel bad for Ben. His parent basically pushed him in the direction of turning out this way. He seems to have wanted to change. I actually had a really decent conversation with him before we left the club.”

Louise nodded. “Oh yeah, I agree, both of his parents manipulated him to get what they wanted. I think he just snapped when Lily rejected him. There’s only so much that one person can handle without completely losing it sometimes. But i do have a serious question. What the hell is with Brooke? I swear she’s threatened me at least a dozen times.”

Amber looked dead serious at Louise. “Want me to kick her a*s? I did it all the time for Lily. Even took a chunk of hair out of her head.”

She would share that so casually and proudly. My sister is a nut.

Louise eyes bulged out of her head. “You didn’t?”

“Weird, Lily had the same reaction. But oh yeah, I so did. It was when i found out about Brooke and Ben hooking up behind Lilys back. Ben probably should be grateful he wasn’t home at the time. He probably would have been missing hair, too.”

Landyn shook his head. “You guys do realize that she’s still my sister, right?”

Amber looked at him like she didn’t give a s**t. “What? Don’t act like you didn’t hear about the whole hair pulling thing all the way at Alpha School. Oh, and technically, only half-sister, so you can be only half offened.”

Brody scowled Amber. “Amber, that was so rude.”

She rolled her eyes. “Landyn, are you offended of my choice of words.”

“No, not really. I never said she didn’t deserve it, i just thought i should act like I cared if my parents asked. You can proceed with the trash talking. I kinda want to know what she did to Louise.”

“Just read her mind with your freaky minecraft thing.”

“Really, Amber? Minecraft, that’s a game.”

“Oh well, you know what I meant.”

“I try not to use it all the time, besides you out of all people, should be happy about that. You dirty bird.”

“Hey, you already admitted that Lily was worse than me.”

Lily blushed and dug her face into my shoulder. “Do I even want to know what Landyn is talking about?”

She gave me an awkward smile. Amber rolled her eyes. “Oh relax, she just wanted some sexy time with Landyn before her, and Ben’s relationship got more serious. “

I growled, and Amber growled back at me. “I said relax. I think every female on earth has pictured landyn in some sort of sexy way.”

Louise came to rescue. “It’s true, me and nearly every female at alpha school had the same thoughts, and if he can read minds, no reason to deny it.”

Now Conner is growling, and I was seriously annoyed that apparently every female wants to drop their panties for Landyn.

Lily ran her fingers into my hair and pulled me back slightly. “Just remember you’re the only one that’s been sexy with me, and I wouldn’t change it for anything. I promise you’re the only one I think of in that way now, and im glad I’ve only been with you. But you do need to relax about Landyns sexiness he cant help it.”

I rolled my eyes at her. “You just had to ruin it with that last comment, didn’t you?”

She kissed my cheek. “Wouldn’t be any fun if I couldn’t tease you a little bit, I promise to tease you in other ways later.”

I smirked at her. “Yup, we’re good.”

We looked back at the group, and everyone was staring at us. They clearly heard our whole conversation, and Lily had no shame.

Landyn cleared his throat, “anyways if we’re all one talking about how all your girls want me and my sexiness can we move onto what Brooke did to Louise? I’m honestly that curious. Usually, it’s just Lily ‘s whose her target.”

Amber squinted her eyes at Landyn. “Who are you, and why are you acting like Conner?”

Everyone laughed. But Conner literally was beaming. “See, I knew i would rub off on you. So I take it all you ladies want me to?”

I smacked him on the side of the head.

Louise tried to hold back a giggle but failed miserably. “Okay to answer your question, Landyn . Brooke just basically told me to back off of Ben and that she was going to be the next luna. She tried to make fun of me for my stepmother being an omega. It really was just a lot of petty s**t. It never actually bothered me. I just thought it was really pathetic.”

Landyn shook is head in a very disapproving way. “I don’t understand why she keeps thinking that. Ben has made it so clear to her. I know she’s my sister and I’m suppose to protect her but how can I protect her when she’s constantly doing s**t like this and being a complete bitch.”

Louise gave him apologetic look. “Did everyone notice that Brooke and Lexi never came to help fight off the rogues. Ben said he did a mass link to all the pack members that were at the club. Everyone came out, but those two. Ben was the one who told me there were rogues outside. He went around asking for help from other packs before he came out.”

f**k that is odd. I wonder why they never helped.

Amber was red in the face. “I’m going to f*****g kill that b***h. If she has anything to do with this, i swear to the moon goddess i will end her or make it so she doesn’t have a hair left on her head.”

Landyn put his palms on his forehead. “I’ll figure it out. Just give me till tomorrow. I’ll find out the truth.”

Landyn is such a good guy. How he ended up with a sister like that, I don’t understand. His mom is actually one of the sweetest people I know. She stays to herself. But I think that’s mostly because of her mate. He abused Landyn and her repeatedly. For whatever reason, Brooke was always left untouched. Probably because she was his only flesh and b***d.

Brooke POV

I saw Ben picking at his spaghetti. He actually looked really lonely. It was honestly pathetic, and I didn’t want the other pack members to think less of him.

He was running out of options, and I knew eventually he would just accept me as his mate and Luna. I just needed to be patient. I knew Alpha Rodger told him he wouldn’t be taking over as alpha till he found a mate. I knew he was never going to love anyone like he loved Lily , which meant he was going to settle, and as a betas daughter, I knew all the ropes to being a good Luna.

He looked up and saw that I was headed towards him and literally just got up and left. It was completely embarrassing. I mean, who does something like that? Everyone was starting to stare at me.

I clenched my fists together and decided to follow him. I’m really getting him sick of him making me out to be a fool. I just wish he would go ahead and just accept it already that I’m the best choice.

I was expecting him to head towards the Alpha floor, but when he stopped on the gamma and beta floor, I thought it was really odd. I knew him and Lily danced together and seemed to be okay with one another, especially after they got attacked by rogues. I just hope it didn’t bring them closer.

I stayed back around the corner. Just took a quick peak at which door he was at. Myles answered it after a few minutes. I heard some laughter before they finally invited him in.

I stepped quietly, knowing I probably only had a few mintues to get to listen about what they were talking about.

I heard my brother, Conner, and Louise, along with Lily and Myles. I couldn’t figure out why they would all be hanging out. As far as everyone else knew, Ben hadn’t fully made amends with everyone yet. I really didn’t think Myles would ever forgive Ben.

I couldn’t make out much of what was being said. But I did hear Ben ask everyone if they knew why is mom was talking to the rogue king. s**t, s**t, s**t. This is so not good.

I heard footsteps coming up the stairs and ran around the corner to another hallway. Amber and Brody just barged in the room. So typical for her. Always having to make an entrance.

I tip toed back to the door and brought my ear up to it. I couldn’t make out any of the voices, but Ben’s. Everyone else was talking too calmly.

I heard footsteps coming towards the door, and I hid again. Ben came out, and he looked completely distraught. s**t he must know, how the hell did any of them know. I have to go find Luna Meghan.

I waited until Ben was gone to head back to the staircase. I took one less listen and heard Louise mentioned about me and Lexi not fighting. They must know absolutely everything. I ran up the stairs and knocked on Lunas office door, praying to the moon goddess that she was there.

She answered the door and actually looked really annoyed to see me, which angered me slightly. She’s the one that got me in this mess. “What do you want, Brooke?”

“They know.”

“What do you mean they know?”

“Ben, Myles, Lily, and even freaking Louise, they all know that you’re talking to the rogue king, and they know that I purposely stayed out of the fight with the rogues. If they know that, then they have to know that it was me and Lexi that caused Lily and Ben’s accident.”

Flashback

Me and Lexi are watching Ben and Lily dance. I don’t even understand what she was doing out with the rogues being after her. It’s like she had a death wish. I texted Luna Meghan

Brooke: Lily and everyone is at the country club.

Luna: Okay, rogues are on their way. Stay inside and distract Myles. Do not help. I never thought she would leave.

Brooke: I’ll try, but he’s dancing with Lily.

Luna: Really? Might be change of plans.

She never texted me back. Me and Lexi waited a while. When we got a mass link from Ben. saying rogues.

I looked at Lexi. “s**t. I was supposed to distract him. I thought Luna was changing plans.”

I looked around the club frantically and couldn’t find Ben anywhere. My gut was telling me he was already outside in the mist of the fight.

I grabbed Lexis’ hand, and we headed outside. We slouched down to stay unnoticed and hid behind a car. I couldn’t see Lily anywhere. Maybe they had already grabbed her. That was so much easier than I anticipated.

I grabbed onto Lexis forearm. “I think they already got Lily, I don’t see her, do you?”

Lexi shook her head. “I don’t know what her wolf looks like, do you?”

“Yeah. It’s white, but I dont see any wolves with white on them.”

She smiled. “Finally, maybe with Lily being gone, I can finally get Myles back.”

I heard my phone buzz. I pulled it out to see another text message from Luna Meghan.

Luna Meghan: Someone got Lily out by vechicle. I’m not sure why she didn’t shift into her wolf. That’s what the rogue king was expecting.

Brooke: Okay? What am I supposed to do about it?

Luna Meghan: Go after them. Run them off the road, crash into them. Do whatever you need to do. The rogues will catch up and take over from there.

I looked up at Lexi. “We need to both drive and run Lily off the road. She took off like a coward and didn’t even stay to help fight. Luna Meghan said the rogues would catch up. We just need to slow her down.”

I saw Ben’s car speed off. She must be in his. I knew the rogues stabbed holes in Conners truck tires.

“Brooke, I don’t know about this. We weren’t ever supposed to get this involved or hands-on.”

“Well, Lexi, if you want Myles back, this is the only way to do it. She’s already gotten away. We have about thirty seconds before we have to make a descion.”

“Okay, fine, what’s the plan? and how will we know it’s her?”

“I saw Ben’s car take off, and I know he wouldn’t ever leave a fight. You take this road and catch up from behind. I’m going to take the back road and cut her off from the front, so I will be headed directly at her. Might just take me a few minutes longer to get there.”

“Okay, let’s get this over with.”

We both go in our cars and sped off to go after Lily. We both knew what Ben’s car looked like, and it was a flashy red it won’t be too hard to find.

After a few minutes of driving, I got a phone call from Lexi. “I’m right behind her. I’ve already hit her tail end.”

“Okay, I see you guys. I’m going to come straight at her and nip the front side. “

I slammed on my breaks after I nipped her. I was not expecting her car to roll down the road like that. s**t I really hope I didn’t just kill her. I might as well dig my own grave. Luna will have my head. They still needed Lily.

Lexi pulled up next to me and rolled down her window. “What did we just do?”

“Let’s just drive back to the pack, drive by slowly. If she’s awake, we can just pretend to help her and say we were headed home.”

We drove by slowly, and I saw a very muscular arm in the driver’s side dangling, it had a very distinctive tribal tattoo and I knew instantly that it was Ben “f**k” She wasn’t alone. I could see Lily perfectly, and she was unconscious in the passenger seat. Why the hell would Ben leave a fight with her? I thought they were over with. Luna Meghan will for sure have my head if I killed both of them.

I just kept driving with Lexi behind me. I couldn’t stop. It would be way too suspicious. I couldn’t follow through with handing Lily over to the rogues now that Ben was with her. If she was even alive for that matter.

Luna Meghans POV

I heard a knock at my door and when I opened it Brooke stood on the other side of it.

I really didn’t want to see her. I’m still pissed off that she could have killed my son and Lily. I needed them both alive.

“What do you want, Brooke?”

When she told me thay they knew I was ready to snap her neck.

“Well, how did they find out?”

“I’m honestly not sure, but they were all talking in Myles’ room. I could only get out bits and pieces of what they were saying. But I definitely heard Ben saying he heard you talking to the rogue king, and Louise pointed out that Lexi and I never came out to fight and then disappeared. They’ve probably put the pieces together that the accident was my fault.”

“Did you actually hear them say that they think you had anything to do with the accident?”

“Well, no, not exactly.”

This girl is seriously an i***t. She’s way too paranoid. I don’t think she would be capable of doing anything like this if it wasn’t for her willpower to end up with Ben. Even though I don’t think it will ever happen. I was actually hoping that Lily and Ben were working things out when they were dancing together, and maybe Lily would change her mind about wearing Myles mark and take Ben back. There was still time before her birthday. I thought after they got in a wreck together, they would have had time to bond, i mean, he did save her life. Most girls would get weak in the knees over that. But i heard Myles and Lily were cozied up at the hospital and went back to Myles’ room together.

“Okay, well, then they probably have no idea, and as far as Ben goes. I can just say I was just negotiating the princes’ freedom and trying to find out about Lily’s mom and my brother. He will understand me reaching out to the rogue kind. So, the plan is still in motion. But there is one more thing I will need you and Lexi to do for me. You guys do owe me for almost killing Ben.”

“Okay, but after this, we’re both out. We can get caught, and this is going way too far. It was supposed to be so much simpler than this. Plus, Lily was supposed to be out of the picture by now. You promised me and Lexi both that.”

“Relax, she will be out of the picture soon enough, and you and Lexi can swoon in and claim your men.”

Stupid girls and their stupid need for being with a ranked member.

“Okay, well, I’m going to give you two knives. The one with the red handle is laced with poison, it will kill whoever you stabbed it with and I want one of you to stab Myles and the other with the blue handle is laced with a liquid thay will make Lily temporarily paralyzed so the rouges can easily snatch her during the attack.”

“Okay, how can Lexi have Myles if you are planning on killing him?”

“He killed my son. He was always going to end up dead. If you want any chance of being with Ben, you will do this. Or I will personally guarantee he will take anyone but you. I can talk to your parents how you’re stalking my poor Ben and suggest you go to warrior boot camp for a few years. You know your parents will believe me from all the s**t you have done to get his attention. Am i clear?”

“Yes, Luna.”

Brooke left my office shaking, and honestly, it wasn’t soon enough. This girl honestly scared the s**t out of me for no reason. They have no clue what’s going on.
