First Love Of The Alpha
Chapter 43

Landyn POV

It was nearly eight in the morning, and I’ve already been pacing outside of Brooke’s room for about an hour. I knew the likelihood of her being awake already was slim, but I couldn’t sleep last night, so i just headed here at the first glimpse of sunlight.

I decided to go ahead and knock on her door. Hell, if I couldn’t sleep because of s**t she’s possibly done, then why should she get any.

She opened the door right away. Okay, weird, maybe she wasn’t sleeping. Then I noticed how red and puffy her eyes were. She had to have been crying. “What do you want, Landyn?”

I put down the block so I could hear her thoughts while I asked questions.

Her thoughts were already spiraling all over the place, and I hadn’t even asked her anything yet. [ Why is he here. He never talks to me or comes to my room. s**t, what if he knows I’ve been helping luna and what if he’s suspecting that Lexi and I purposely caused Ben and Lily’s accident? He’s so going to kill me. I didn’t mean to flip the stupid car. I shouldn’t have told Luna what i heard last night.]

I gulped. This was far worse than I thought. I continued to listen to her thoughts for a few more minutes. She was starting to sweat. I sat down at the edge of the bed. “Why didn’t you and Lexi not help fight off the rogues?”

She looked panicked. [ How can I lie my way out of this. I can’t tell him that luna asked me to stay out of it and try to distract Ben. Even though I failed at that miserable. She’s still pissed I didn’t know Ben was in the car with Lily. I still don’t understand why he left with her. Maybe l can get it out of Landyn.] “Oh, um, we had too much to drink and had our block up. We didn’t get a link. We had no idea about the rogue attack. ” [ I hope he didn’t see me leave in the middle of the fight]

I sighed. I figured she was going to lie to me. I just didn’t realize how deep she was in this. I decided to let this go. I got enough out of her thoughts. “Oh, okay. Well, I’m glad you got out of there safely. But Brooke, why were you crying when I came in here?”

[F**k he can’t know that luna is going to give me special knives to kill Myles and paralyze Lily with when the rogues attack. He won’t understand that I don’t have a choice.] “Oh just over Ben again, he was really awful towards me at the club and he’s refusing to even let me talk to him now.”

“Well, you need to let that go. Ben will never be with you. Truthfully, he can’t stand you and how you treat people. Including Lily and Louise.”

Her face flushed. [We will see, luna is going to help me with that.] She never said anything more out loud.

“Just back off Brooke, or I’m getting mom and dad involved. You’ve done enough damage and crazy s**t. You’re going to end up getting yourself killed. Do you hear me?”

She gulped. [He must know something.]

I left her bedroom and headed to Lily and Myles room. I needed my friends. This is all too crazy for me.

I got Lily and Myles’ room, not thinking how early it was. I had already knocked, so it’s too late to back out now. Lily answered the door in her pajamas with a cup of coffee in her hand. She put her finger over mouth and then pointed over to the bed. Signaling that Myles was still asleep. She waved me in, and we went to living are. Lily had Pride and Prejudice playing.

She gave me a warm smile. “I take it you couldn’t sleep either? “

I shook my head.

“Do you want a cup of coffee?”

“Yeah, that would be great, actually.”

She handed me a cup with cream and two sugars. I loved how she paid attention to the people she cared about.

“Did i get I right?”

“Yeah, it’s perfect, Lil.”

“So I take by how you look that you’ve already seen Brooke today?”

“How can you tell?”

“You’ve never shown up at my door this early unless you slept over.”

“It’s so bad, Lily. She’s way more involved than I thought. It honestly might be too late to save her. I just can’t help but think of my poor mom. I knew Brooke was impulsive and out there sometimes, but I honestly didn’t think she was capable of such horrible things.”

She put her arms around me and pulled me in for a hug. “It’s okay, Landyn. Maybe it’s not as bad you think.”

“She’s the one that almost killed you and Ben. She was the one driving the car that was headed straight at you guys, and Lexi was the one coming from behind.”

She tried to hide her shocked expression from me, but she failed so miserably. She pulled me back into her arms. I started to cry. I’m not one to show any emotion, but all of this was finally getting to me. She cooed me “Its okay, Landyn, everything will be okay. I got you.”

She waited till I calmed down. “Landyn, is she planning on trying to hurt me again?”

I nodded.

“Okay, then she clearly didn’t learn from her mistake before, and she’s probably going to continue to hurt me. What I don’t understand in all of this is why? I mean, I’m not even with Ben anymore, and that was always her problem with me before. “

“She’s doing Luna Meghans dirty work. Luna Meghan asked, “Well, more like told Brooke to kill Myles with a knife then covered with poison and to stab you with another that laced with something to make you temporarily paralyzed She threatened to send Brooke to warrior camp, which I dont think would have been a big deal it would have spared lives. But she had to mention taking away any chance her and Ben would have. Even though there is no chance, my sister is still naive enough to believe there’s still one.”

She rubbed my upper back slightly. “Landyn, if she even tries to stab me or Myles, there’s no saving her. We won’t have another choice.”

“I know, I don’t even know why I’m sobbing it’s not like me and Brooke are close.”

“Landyn, I understand completely. She’s still your sister. You grew up together. It’s really okay to feel this way.”

“Thanks, Lil. I think I’m going to go for a run. I’ll meet up with everyone tonight to let them know what I found out. I just need some space.”

“I understand. I’ll see you later and just be careful. I don’t like you going out alone. The rogues know you’re the biggest threat.”

“I will, i won’t put up a block in case I need you guys.”

I left their room feeling a little better than what I did when I first got there. I swear Lily has some sort of superpower to make anyone feel better.

I got to the bottom of the stairs, where I saw Luna Meghan pacing and texting someone on her phone.

“Oh, Landyn , sweetheart, how are you.? Where’s Brookie been hiding? I’ve been trying to reach her all morning.”

I bet you have. “I think she’s still sleeping. Why would you need Brooke?”

“Oh, um, I was thinking of planning a birthday party for Lily on November first, and I wanted Brooke’s help.”

“Brooke and Lily hate eachother why would you think Brooke would help and I highly doubt Lily would want you throwing her a birthday party. You never have before, and that is like two weeks past her actual birthday.”

She seemed startled by my tone. “Well, I just got word that her mom was murdered by the rogues and wanted to do something nice for her. I was planning on telling her later. But all the weekends were booked up until November first.”

She’s so full of s**t that I didn’t even have to read her thoughts to pick up on that.

“Oh really, if her mom is actually dead, do you honestly think she would want some big a*s party. You may still be my Luna for now. But whatever you’re planning, keep my sister out of it. She’s got enough s**t to deal with. Her whole obsession with Ben is getting out of hand. I plan on talking to my parents about it.” I let out some of my alpha aura, and her lips started to tremble.

“Well, I can help Brooke with that.”

“I said leave Brooke alone. It’s a family matter.”

She raised an eyebrow at me, and I raised one back at her. I’m just daring her to say something.

“Don’t act like you didn’t feel my alpha aura, I’m not as big of an i***t as you think I am.” I walked off and headed back upstairs. I know I just talked to Lily, but I need to talk to her again.

I knocked on their door, and Myles answered. I basically barged in. ” Where’s Lily?”

I was frantic, and I knew it. I was overwhelmed with the feeling of wanting to protect my sister from taking a life and protecting her from her own life being taken. There was no way she could get out of this alive if she stayed here. I felt torn. I know she deserved punishment, and realistically, she should be dead for what she did to Ben and Lily. She almost killed our future alpha and the fricken future queen. Yet I’m over her about to beg Lily to help me get my sister out of here, even though it still might not save her life.

Myles looked at me with so much sympathy. Lily must have told him what I said , not that long ago or hell he could have heard the whole thing himself.

“She’s in the bath. Let me go help her out. Just don’t leave. I’ll get her.”

I started to pace. Lily came out in a robe a few minutes later. “Landyn, what happened?”

Her voice was soothing, and it was laced with so much concern. I broke down again for the second time in my life. I never once cried from all the beatings I took from my father. But here I am, being a blabbering fool over a sister I haven’t been close with for years. I couldn’t help but picture her young and her hair in braids. She would follow me everywhere. Now, I can’t even get her to respect me enough to listen to what I had to say.

“Luna Meghan threatened Brooke with warrior camp for a few years, and I’m considering talking with my parents about how out of control she is. I’m leaving most of it out, but just enough for them to agree. If she’s gone, Lily, she can’t hurt you or Myles. She’s not thinking of the consequences. I really don’t think she knows she could be executed for this.”

“Landyn, it’s okay. You need to calm down.If that’s what you wanna do, that’s fine. You’re right. If she’s not here, she can’t hurt me or Myles. I’ll support you in whatever you want. You’re a good brother. We dont have to tell anyone outside our group that she was responsible for the wreck. But if she does anything again. I can’t help her. I can’t risk myself, myles, or my pups again. She has to stay away.”

I nodded.”If my parents agree, I’ll drop her off at warrior school myself. She can’t leave its basically like the military, but for wolves who didn’t grow up to be a warrior to learn and train if they chose to become one. “

“Okay, I wasn’t sure how that worked. I figured she would leave if she could.”

“It will be hard for her to escape, but out of the odd chance that she does, I’ll make sure they notify me immediately. “

“Okay, that’s fine. But do you honestly think she will go for this?”

“I’m not sure. But I don’t plan on giving her a choice. I just feel like I need to give her one more chance to fix her life before it’s too late.”

Myles nodded his head in agreement. “Honestly, I thought I was going to be the one in your shoes over Amber accidently killing someone or purposely. Who knows with her. I just figured her impulsiveness was going to get her in trouble some day, and I was either going to have to bail her out or hide her. But I get the need to protect your sister, no matter how crazy they can be. But Landyn, if she comes after my family again, she can’t walk away, and it may have to be by my hands.”

“I understand, and I would never fault or hate you for it. This is the only chance she has.”

I left feeling guilty that I even ran that by them. I knew they would understand, and I knew Lily would never want me to see me in pain. She would do anything for her friends and family. She’s already got the selfness and qualities to be a good queen someday.

I went to my parents’ room and explained how Brooke was taking things too far to get with Ben. I mentioned the wreck but said that the luna and alpha have no idea about it, and everyone agreed to keep it a secret if Brooke leaves and gets help. I haven’t mentioned it to Ben yet, but I knew Lily would help me keep him in check, and hopefully Brooke will be long gone before then.

My dad wouldn’t agree to it, but when I mentioned that she would be executed if word got out, he came around. He ended the conversation by basically saying that since it’s my idea, I had to be the one to tell and take her.

I asked my mom to pack her a bag without her knowing and put it in our suv. She nodded. Not even giving me any sort of argument. My mom was broken. My dad scared her so bad that she never disrespected or argued with any sort of man, even her own son. I kissed the side of her head and promised I would do what i could to keep her safe.

I Linked Brooke. “Meet me downstairs at mom and dad’s suv.”

“Okay, why?”

“We’re going out. We need to talk in complete privacy.”

“Okay, and we can’t just link?

“Brooke, I wasn’t asking. You need to get downstairs now. There’s only so much I can do to protect you.”

She was quiet for a moment. “Okay, I’ll be down in a minute.”

I waited by the car for twenty minutes. I was starting to think she wasn’t coming. Right before I was going to link her, she came down with a large suitcase.

I gave her a puzzled look. “Am I not leaving?”

I nodded and grabbed her luggage and put it in the trunk.

“Mom came to say goodbye. How did you know, and why are you helping me?”

“It’s not just me that’s helping you, Brooke. Lily knows that I’m taking you away. What were you thinking? I know you knew that she’s the future queen. That rumor has made its rounds around the pack now. Your lucky Lily is a good person with a kind heart. she could have you executed. Did you even take the time time to think of that?”

“No, I guess I didn’t. “

“Brooke, i know you’re not that stupid. I just can’t believe you did this.”

“You, Ben, Conner, Myles, and even Brody all just worship the ground she walks on even before it got out that she came from royal b***d. It came easy for her, and I had to fight for any little attention. I’m a beta daughter, but I was nothing compared to her, and everyone thought she was a damn omega. It wasn’t fair. I should have been fated to Ben.”

“You sound like a spoiled brat. If you got off your high horse for once, you would have realized that acting like you’re better than everyone and treating the non ranked members poorly rubs all of us in the wrong way. You were mean and nasty. Lily is the complete opposite of you. She’s sweet and considerate. She would give you the shirt off your back if you needed it. When i asked her to let me send you away, she backed me up. She was there for me, well for all of us and they only person you were ever worried about was yourself.”

“Don’t tell me you’re in love with her too?”

“Yeah, I love her, but not like that. She’s a close friend and she always will be and I won’t let you do anything to her. You can love someone and not be in love with them. I dont understand how you dont know that.”

We road in the car in silence for a while when she finally spoke barely above a whisper. ” Are you sending me away to protect me, or is it to protect Lily?” She actually looked slightly hurt.

“It was to protect you both. I doubt Luna Meghan would have kept you alive after you did her dirty work.”

“I didn’t think of that.”

“Well, I need you to start thinking Brooke. your not a f*****g kid anymore. It’s time to grow up. You’re not always going to get what you want.”

“You and your friends act like children all the time.”

“Yeah, we can, but we also know when it’s not appropriate. We’re just having fun. But when it comes down to it and it’s something serious, we know how to act.”

“Where are you taking me?”

“You’ll see when we get there.”
