First Love Of The Alpha -
Chapter 44
Ben’s POV
After my run last night, i went straight to bed, not that I could sleep. My head was foggy. I was having a hard time with the fact that my whole life just exploded.
I went down to the kitchen to get a mug and one of the togo pots of coffee. I needed it this morning.
I was getting ready to head back up when I heard Landyn and mom getting into a tense conversation. I stayed back. I was curious to see how this was going to go.
She was lying out of her a*s. I hated that I never noticed it before, but I hated even more how good and easy it was for her to lie and manipulate.
I thought for a moment that Landyn was going to give something away. He did a really good job at covering it up. We both knew she was so full of s**t. The only reason she was planning a party that day was to distract us all from the rogue attacks, but what I didn’t understand was why she was so stern on having Brooke help her. I don’t think there would ever be enough money in the world for Brooke to help with anything that was for Lily. She hated her that much.
I watched Landyn let out some of his alpha aura, and my mom trembled slightly. Out of everyone, she really should be scared of him. For one, he’s huge, and second, he could literally read your thoughts to see how you’re planning on attacking. It really explained how he is such the killing machine.
I waited till he went back upstairs before I made my appearance known to my mother. For the most part, I’ve been avoiding her since my party. I’m having an even harder time now than I did before to even look at her. I know she won’t live after all of this.
She looked almost startled to see me. “How long have you been standing there?”
“Long enough. Is there anything I should know?”
“Oh, not much. I’m just planning Lily a birthday party.”
“Right.”
We locked eyes for a few minutes, neither one breaking the contact. I finally cracked, not wanting to stand there any longer. I didn’t want to hear the lies.
Landyn linked everyone wanting to be in Myles room as usual after dinner. I guess I’ll have to wait to see what all of that was about fully.
I basically stayed in my room. Felt like the clock was barely moving, and I was feeling anxious. I hadn’t talked to anyone since I found out about everything. I was trying to figure out what to say or if I owed an apology. Not that I thought I did, I was just really overwhelmed.
I skipped dinner, thinking it was a good idea at the time. I’m sure I’ll regret it later. I haven’t really eaten in days, just a few bits here and there.
I headed down to Myles room, half expecting everyone to be down in the dining hall. I knocked, and Lily answered the door immediately.
I looked around and noticed that we were alone. “Hey, come on in Ben. Everyone should be back up in a minute.”
“I honestly wasn’t expecting anyone to be up here yet. I was just taking a chance.”
“You weren’t hungry?”
“I haven’t been eating all that much lately.”
“I understand that, but you should really eat.”
“Doesn’t look like you were eating either.”
“I was till all the smells made me sick, so I came back up to freshen up before everyone got here.”
“I got ya, so you excited for your birthday in a few days?”
“Um, more nervous than anything, I guess.”
“You know my mom wants to throw you a birthday party November first, right?”
“Yeah, I think I’m going to let her. It would be just as much of a distraction for her. We could use it to our advantage. It would be easier to hide the palace warriors with a huge party going on. I already wrote a letter out to mom. She will confirm some sort of plan soon.”
“So, do you have any idea what my mom is doing with Brooke? I heard her and Landyn talking. She was pretty adamant about finding her this morning.”
“That’s actually one of the things we wanted to talk to about tonight.”
I sat down on one of the armchairs. I knew where this was going. My gut was telling me she had something to do with a lot of the crap that’s been happening. “How involved is Brooke?”
“We all wanted to talk about it tonight.”
“You said that already. Lily, I’m asking how bad it is?”
“Ben, we should really wait.”
“Please, I need to know. I’ve been kept in the dark on everything, and I know a lot of that is my fault, but please don’t make me wait any longer.”
She sat on the chair next to me, tucking a strand of her long brown hair behind her ear. She looked into me with her deep violet eyes. Man, how much I’ve missed those eyes. I wish part of me could just shake these feelings away. They creep on me when i least expect it. I would do anything not to think she was the most beautiful woman in the world.
“Okay, I’ll tell you, but you need to promise me you’ll stay calm.”
Shen rubbed her stomach. Im not sure how she was even hiding it anymore. Her stomach was really round and swollen. It was perfect.
I knew I needed to stay calm. I didn’t want to cause her any more stress than what I already have. “I promise.”
“Brooke has been working with your mom. Her and Lexi caused our wreck. Not the rogues. “
My mind was spiraling. I knew she was cruel. but not like this. How can someone who claims they love you risk your life like that.
Lily was staring at the rug, like it was something she’s never seen before, and it suddenly was very interesting.
“If there’s more Lil, just say it.”
“Your mom asked Brooke not to help us during the rogue attacks. She actually was supposed to be distracting you but obviously failed. Honestly, things probably would have ended very differently if you hadn’t driven off with me. I’m guessing far worse than the wreck.”
“Why did she cause the wreck?”
“Landyn never said. But if I had to guess it was so the rogues could catch up.”
“Makes sense. How long has she been helping my mom?”
“I’m not sure. She asked Brooke to kill Myles on the night the rogues plan on attacking and to temporarily paralyze me. Some sort of magic knives are involved. “
I was beyond livid. She grew up with Myles. How could she so easily turn around and kill someone like that. I knew she had to have cared for him at one point. “I’m going to kill her.”
“Well, you can’t do that. Your mom would get suspicious. But your mom threatened her with warrior camp and taking you away. “
“I was never an option she has to know that. Honestly, warrior camp actually might be beneficial for Brooke. But it would make more sense to me that her life would have been threatened to follow through on killing myles. You maybe, but not Myles. “
Lily snorted. “Oh, thanks. I’m glad that you think she could be willing to kill me so easily.”
“Don’t act like you don’t know that she hates your guts.”
“Okay, okay, you’re right. But still. Im really glad to hear that you think warrior camp is a good idea, though.”
She let out a nervous laugh. This so can’t be good. “Why is that Lily?”
“Well, you see, Landyn and I were also thinking that it would be really good for Brooke. So Landyn left and took Brooke to warrior camp. He didn’t give her the option to say no. He thought if she was gone, me and myles would both be saved, and it would stop her from taking things too far. She was being manipulated. I don’t think she understood there was no way your mom would have kept her alive. She would eventually cover her tracks up that could lead back to her.”
“So Brooke just gets to walk free and unpunished again? She could have killed you and the pups.”
“i know that, trust me. I do. She is not exactly going unpunished. Can you honestly picture Brooke at warrior camp. All the drills, the tight schedule, and all the check-ins. Landyn said she wouldn’t be able to escape easily. This would be like jail for her.”
“If she wasn’t Landyns sister, she would be good as dead right now, and you know it .

Raya POV
I’ve been able to write my daughter back and forth through the gammas. So far, things have gone unnoticed, but I’m not sure how much longer that will be.
I miss my mate, my daughter, and the life I was supposed to have. The king and queen will barely speak to me. I can’t help but feel they no longer see me as there daughter in law.
Not that I could blame them. I did take their only granddaughter away and never mentioned their son was missing .
I thought I was doing the right thing, but not so much now. I was trying to respect my mates’ wishes.
Part of me doesn’t want to know the anguish and torment he must have endured over the years. I would be lying if I didn’t say I was living a comfortable life. Even if I was spending all my free time looking for him. I had a roof over my head and food to eat, and he looked drained, weak, and looked like he’s only living on scrapes and not much of anything else.
Maybe the king was right. If I got him involved sooner, he could have saved him long before now, but it wouldn’t have stopped the attacks from coming and the lives taken just to have gotten to our daughter
Charles didn’t want his dad’s life on his shoulders. He knew his dad wouldn’t stop trying to free him even if it got himself killed. The kingdom needed him, and he didn’t want it to fall in someone else’s hands.
Either way, I decided I don’t think I could have won. No matter what choice I made. Someone would have gotten hurt, no matter. At least this way, I kept my word, no my promise that I made to my mate.
I received my daughter’s newest letter just a day before her nineteenth birthday. I hated that I couldn’t be there for her, the pups, well everything. I’m her mother, and I’m hiding out like I’ve always done.
I know as long as Luna Meghan thinks I’m dead, the plan wouldn’t get moved up. The king is planning on having warriors hidden outside the pack grounds. He agreed that a birthday party would make a great distraction. He’s going there himself to kill the rogue king and make sure Lily leaves safely. Not exactly how I pictured them meeting again. But I guess it is what it is.
I thought taking the fight to them would spare lives, but I guess their numbers are too high, and it was better that they split up to two groups, which gives us a better chance of winning and saving Lily and charles.
I knew Myles and Lily’s friends would keep her safe, but I just couldn’t help but feel like they were sitting duck’s. My daughter is keeping so much from me for my own sanity. Hell, I had to find out about the wreck from Remi and her pregnancy through a letter. I doubt she would have even told me if Remi hadn’t been trailing her.
She doesn’t say it, but she must be so angry at me from keeping so much from her, and now she’s doing the same.
I already plan on killing Luna Meghan. It will be by my hands. All of this was on her, and no one better dare get in my way.

Lily’s POV
We all headed outside to wait for my birthday under the full moon.
It was twenty minutes till midnight, and I was an anxiety mess. I could tell myles was as nervous as me. His hands were all sweaty and were interlaced with mine. His grip was hard and was tighting. I didn’t think he was going to let go till this was over with.
Luna Meghan came outside and approached us quickly. I now understood why Myles was holding onto me for dear life. She looked confused and even distraught. If anything, I thought she would be curious like the rest of us.
The closer she got, the angrier she looked. She was almost charging towards us. Myles pulled me behind him.
She had her hand up and pointed her finger directly at me and Myles. ” What is that?”
Ben stepped in between us and his mother. “What is what, mom?”
She seemed startled to see her son outside with us. “Lily and her stomach. Is she pregnant?”
s**t I forgot I didn’t button Myles flannel before coming out. I wear his clothes more than I wear my own these days.
I clenched onto Myles forearm and whispered in his ear. “We’re going to have to tell her and play it cool. The secret is officially out, baby.”
He gave me an unsure look. But I rubbed his arm and gave him a reassuring nod. He finally spoke in a neutral tone. “Yeah, we’re expecting. What’s the big deal?”
“Why were you guys hiding it?” She looked beyond annoyed, but above everything else, she looked scared.
I stepped to the side of Myles. “We weren’t hiding it. A lot of people already know. You’re the one who’s making a big deal out of it. Me and Myles are mated, and the chances of getting pregnant were pretty high. It’s not like it’s uncommon. “
She seemed to relax a bit. I was the one starting to sweat now. I didn’t want to give Luna any suspicions about us.
“Okay, well, sorry you guys. It just came as a suprise to me.”
“Well, it shouldn’t. Like I said, we are marked and mated. It’s usually to be expected.”
She started to walk away and turned back around at the last second. “Are you guys going to stay here or head to the palace? I’m sure your grandfather got word that you’re here and about your poor mother. You know how rumors spread.”
She really was going to try to tell me mother was dead right now. Like seriously? I played stupid.
“What about my mom?”
“Oh, hunny, I hate to tell you this, but the rogues killed your mother.”
I unintentionally snorted. What shocked me was Ben was the one to speak up. I wasn’t sure how this was going to go. He could be so impulsive when it came to me.
“Where’s the proof? The body? How did you find out? Why were you contacted instead of Lily or the palace? When did you find out? Why are you just telling her now?”
He didn’t hold back and piled on the questions. Didn’t even let her respond to one. I could tell she was getting uneasy and nervous. I’m not sure if it was because she was trying to come up with a lie or the fact that Ben was the one asking the questions.”
“I talked to the rogue king, and he told me.” She spoke with so much snarkiness that if I could have slapped her, I would have.
“When and why were you taking to him, and how the hell did you even get in contact with him?”
Landyn slowly started to approach Ben side. I think he was trying to prepare for Ben to lose his s**t on his mom. We never know what to expect out of him.
Luna Meghan cleared her throat. Her voice was no longer confident. “I got his number to find out what happened to Raya and my brother.”
“Who gave his number?”
She started to stutter. Ben wasn’t going easy on her. He was harsh and cruel. I hope he wasn’t giving anything away.
“Through a friend.”
“Which friend?”
“I can’t say.”
“Then, with no proof, why would you tell Lily? You see that she’s pregnant. This could have devastated her. You’re causing her and her pup unnecessary stress.”
I’ll have to give some points. He saved that nicely.
She never answered. My alarm went off that it was now midnight. We all stood around each other, trying to figure out how myles and i would get whatever power we were blessed with.
Myles buckled over in pain a moment later. I backed away slightly. He started to scream out . The pain was clearly too much. He half shifted into his wolf. His nails dig into the grass. He howled out loudly before he completely passed out face down.
I rushed down to his side and tried to flip him over. Conner came down next to me, and we got him on his back.
I look up for a brief second, and Luna Meghan is smirking. Ben looked at the direction I was looking at and saw the same thing I did. He started to move. She turned her back on us and started to walk away. I linked Landyn quickly. “Stop Ben.”
Landyn wrestled Ben to the ground before he had a chance to do something stupid. Luna Meghan was already halfway back to the pack house and hopefully didn’t see Ben react.
Brody had Amber over his shoulder. I guess I missed Amber’s reaction to Luna Meghan. She yelled. “Is he dead? What the hell happened?”
I brought my face down to his. I could feel him breathing on my cheek.I sighed in relief. “He’s okay. He’s breathing.”
I saw Amber relax against Brody, and he was able to put her down.
Myles started to choke and whispered out in a husky voice, ” Water.”
Landyn yelled out. ” I got it,” and ran off.
He sat up, and I rubbed his back. he was convulsivly coughing. Landyn came back with a couple of water bottles, and he gulped them down.
Myles cleared his throat. “I’m okay, sweetheart.”
I wrapped arms around his neck and kissed his cheek, and held onto him tightly. I didn’t want to let go. Now he was the one rubbing my back.
“Baby, I’m really okay. Now, let’s get up before anyone else notices.”
Conner helped me up off the ground. It’s been getting more difficult the bigger I get. Landyn helped Myles get up, and it left us all completely startled.
Myles was bigger, a lot bigger. We always described Landyn as being a huge bear. He was huge. But now, with Myles, he easily stood a few inches over him. He was broader, and his muscles had muscles.
I heard Conner yell from behind me. “Holy s**t dude. Did you drink a whole case of muscle milk or something?”
Myles looked confused. When he looked over at Landyn and realized he was now taller, he jumped back. “What the f**k?”
Landyn patted his back, Myles looked like he was about to have a panic attack. “Okay, so i think your blessed gift has something to so with strength.”
Myles looked even more confused if that were possible. “Landyn. why would you think that?”
“Why else would you double in size? We should test it out.”
“Okay, what do you suggest?”
“Try picking up Brody and Conner. Together, there are over four hundred pounds.”
“Seriously?”
Before Landyn could respond, Conner jumped in Myles arms. “I’m ready for ya big fella, now watch your hands.”
Myles glared at him. “If I wasn’t curious myself, I would so drop you on your a*s.”
Conner gave a chessy grin. “Here, I thought our relationship was progressing.” He literally batted his eyelashes. I had to cover my mouth up with my hand to cover up my laugh. I knew if he heard me, he would get a thrill of me finding his childish behaviors hilarious.
Amber snorted and followed suit and jumped in Myles other arm. He was balancing them like they weighed nothing.
I shook my head. “I’m not really sure if this counts, I’ve seen Myles hold two people before.”
We all looked at Brody. “Hell no, im not jumping in his arms. Why don’t we just have him try to pick up one of those boulders over there? Wouldn’t that make more sense?”
We all laughed at our own stupidity.
Landyn got red in his face, probably embarrassed he didn’t come up with it first. “The smallest Boulder over there is like three foot and could weigh anywhere between eight hundred and twelve hundred pounds if not more. There’s no way.”
Amber shrugged her shoulders. “Hey, least he could do is try. This would basically answer If he had some sort of super strength. “
We walked over to the Boulder. I took a look around to make no one else was watching.
Myles squatted down. I couldn’t help but stare at his backside. His thighs and calves were huge, and I just about had to wipe the drool from my chin when he put his arms around the stupid rock. Every muscle was flexing.
I wasn’t expecting him to be able to actually pick it up. The look of shock on his face, he wasn’t expecting it either. He picked it up with such ease. Safe to say Landyn was right about Myles being blessed with literal super strength.
Amber and Conner yelled “Holy f**k” at the exact same time.
He tossed the Boulder down, and it cracked. I was a little embarrassed that I was getting aroused watching him. Hopefully, no one would notice.
Conner attention was directed to me . “Do you feel any different Lil?”
I realized I didn’t feel or look a different. Which was odd. My mate and I were both supposed to be blessed.
“Actually, I dont.”
Conner looked at me confused. “Maybe you need to howl at the moon like dumb, dumb over here. “
Myles grumbled. I howled because I was in pain a*****e.”
“Well, I see why, you grew like five inches into fricken big foot.”
I couldn’t contain my laughter anymore. I lost it. “I’m sorry, babe, I’m so sorry. I couldn’t hold it in any longer. I’m about to pee my pants.” Which caused everyone else to bust out laughing.
After we all calmed down from our laughing fit. Landyn was the first to get serious. “So Lil, got any idea what your gift could be?”
“I really don’t, and I don’t even know what to try out. I’m not exactly sure what my options could even be. I didn’t even realize the super strength could even be one of them, but here we are.”
Myles came to put his arms around me and gave me a funny look. s**t, he so smells me.
He couldn’t hide the grin that was crossing his face.
Landyn nodded. “Well, maybe you can write out a letter to your mom and see what the possibilities are, and while we wait, we can do some research. I am kind of hoping you would just know. But if it wasn’t for Myles’ physical change, we would have never guessed super stretch. We will figure it out.”
Myles bent down to my ear. “You ready to get out of here? You know I can smell you. I take it you like all the new muscles?”
I bit my l*p. Which made him give him another snarky grin. “So me and Lil are going to head to bed. She’s due for her birthday present. “
Amber giggled. “Real smooth, Myles. We all know you’re about to take your women to bed and put those new muscles to use.”
Myles scooped me up in his arms. “Yep, I am, and I got no shame.”
I couldn’t help but smile as he carried me back to the packhouse.
“I look back at everyone, and Ben is putting his hands into his jean pockets and had his head looking at the ground. We locked eyes for a moment, and then he headed in the direction of the woods.
I hated that I felt bad for him. He just looked so sad.
