Chapter 60

Landyns POV

I slid myself down to the floor, taking my jacket off to put on his wounds, I was trying to stop the bleeding.

I was confused. It should be starting to heal already.

I heard him mumble ” silver bullets” and pointed to the office door.

I linked Lily quickly. “Lily, I need you on the alpha floor now. Someone’s hurt.”

“Okay, me and Myles are on our way up. We were almost in our room.”

Okay, good, they weren’t far.

I kept pressure on his wounds. He was starting to go in and out of consciousness. “Ben, stay with me. Lily is coming.”

He managed to mumble out “dad” before he finally lost complete consciousness.

I kept one hand on his wound and pushed the door open with my other. Alpha Rodger was conscious, holding his chest.

“Landyn, thank goodness you’re here. Ben, is Ben okay?”

“I’m not sure. He’s lost a lot of b***d.”

I saw the b***d seeping through his hand and the b***d on his leg. He just nodded.

“How bad are you hurt?”

“I got the bullet out of my thigh. I can feel it starting to heal slowly. My chest, I can’t get the one out of my chest.”

“Who did this?”

“Lexi, I’m pretty sure she thinks we’re dead. After she shot me, she stood there shocked and frozen in place. She wasn’t expecting Ben and panicked and shot him twice back to back.”

His breathing was heavy. The silver must be spreading.

“Just hold on, Lily is coming.”

s**t there was no way we could get them down to the pack hospital. They would link Lexi. She’s been working down in the hospital for some time. If they didn’t link her, she least would get word that they were alive, and right now, I wanted her to think she succeeded.

I heard Lily scream, “Ben, is he? Landyn, is Ben dead?”

“No, just unconscious. The bullets are made out of silver. We need to get them out, and then Lily, I need you to heal them. It will take way too long because of the silver, and the rogues are at the boarders it could be anytime. Especially now that Luna knows we’re on to her bullshit.”

“Should we take them to the pack, doctor?”

“No, I don’t think we have that kind of time.”

His breathing was becoming shallow. He got shot close to his heart twice. He got so lucky she missed.

Lily ripped his shirt. “Do you have tweezers or something to pull the bullets out with?”

Alpha Rodger mumbled. “I have pliers. It’s how I got the one out of my thigh.”

I could tell he was starting to doze in and out now.

Lily leaned across Ben. “Holy s**t, Alpha Rodger was shot to?”

I handed her the pliers. She pulled one out easily, and she put it in a glass that I got off Alpha Rodgers desk.

“I can’t get the second one. It’s angled in weird.”

I started to panic. “What do we do?”

“Landyn, I’m not a doctor. I’m a healer. We really should get him down to the hospital. “

“Lily, we can’t. Not unless there’s no other option. Lexi shot both of them. The bullets are made out of silver and spreading. What can we do?”

I saw anger cross her face. “Okay, sterilize a knife. I think if I cut him just a little more down, I could pull it through at that angle. You guys will have to hold him down in case he wakes?”

I grabbed my pocket knife and poured alcohol on it, and handed it to her.

She was focused. I knew she wanted to be a nurse or doctor. I knew she would be able to handle the pressure.

She made a slight slit and used part of Ben’s shirt to wipe some of the b***d. She took the pliers at a weird angle, and after a few tries, she pulled it out. “I got it!”

She placed the bullet in the glass with the other one and instantly put her hands on his wounds. Her eyes glowed a bright neon purple color. It was honestly kind of freaky.

Myles went to Alpha Rodger, who was now unconscious, trying to do what Lily just did with the pliers. He managed to get it out in one go.

A few minutes went by, and I finally started to see the wounds close.

Ben finally jumped up. “What the f**k just happened?”

Lily left his side instantly and ran to Alpha Rodgers side. Well, more like waddle, I think it was hard for her to move in that dress on top of being pregnant with twins.

She placed her hand in his chest to heal, and after a few minutes, he was coming back to us, too.

After his chest wound was healed, she moved to his thigh that had already started to heal.

Alpha Rodger just watched her in admiration. “Thank you, Lily. This is truly remarkable. We wouldn’t have properly healed for days if it wasn’t for you. Least now, we will be able to defend ourselves tonight.”

She smiled over at him. “Just take it easy and rest up till then. I’m sure this has taken a lot out of you… Out of both of you.” She looked over at Ben, who had been trying to stand already.

He gave her an awkward grin but laid back down. He knew not to go against Lily, especially when she’s pregnant.

Now that I could finally relax that everyone was going to be okay, I had to ask. I bent down next to Alpha Rodger. “Why did Lexi even shoot you?”

“I don’t think she wanted to shoot me. She really didn’t say all that much. I tried talking her down, but she didn’t seem to believe or care what I was saying. She shot me in the thigh, and when I lunged at her, she shot me in the chest, and that’s when she froze.”

“Why shoot Ben?”

“When she came back to it, she ran into Ben. She was still holding the gun. She panicked, not wanting to be caught. She has to think we’re dead, and if it wasn’t for Lily, she probably would make sure that we were if we had to go down to the hospital.”

Amber came into the office. “Lexi is at the pack hospital for her shift. she’s very fidgety. What do we do?”

“Before we could decide, we all got a link,”Rogues.”

Brody linked me, Ben, and Conner. “We’re not going to make ourselves known till we see Andrew or the Rogue king. We dont want them to take off if they see royal warriors. Luna Meghan hasn’t come out yet.”

Ben linked back. “That’s fine. Our warriors should be able to handle it, but if things go sideways, we will need them to intervene.”

“Yeah, we’re going to be a few minutes late getting down there.”

Brody sighed. “Do I even want to know?”

“Maybe later?”

Ben chimed in. “I got shot.”

He sounded more shocked than anyone.”WHAT? By who?”

Ben grumbled. “Lexi. She thinks me and my dad are dead.”

Brody voice was shaky.”I hate to tell you guys this, but Lexi is headed into the woods opposite of us. Towards the waterfall.”

“Follow her. I’ll send Conner and Louise to catch up.”

Alpha Rodger looked guilty. “There is something Lexi told me before she shot me. I didn’t want to worry you, but I dont think there’s a way around this. I know what Meghan was looking for. I just don’t think there’s a thing we can do about it.”

Lexi’s POV

I couldn’t stop my hands from shaking. I sat behind the desk at the nurses’ station, waiting for Luna Meghans link.

I truly didn’t want to shoot our Alpha. But Luna Meghan personally guaranteed me that Myles could be mine if I did this for her.

She said that she knew a witch that could make a potion for Myles to fall in love with me, and she would be getting Lily out of the way to the palace.

She only asked me to do this a few hours ago. It didn’t give me much time to think about it.

I held my bag tighter than ever. I still had the knives that Luna Meghan left for Brooke in her room. No one knows that I took them. As far as Luna Meghan knew, they were long gone. But now my bag carried a gun with silver bullets to.

I never thought this was what my life would come to. I always thought Myles would have ended up caving and accepting me as his mate. We were eachothers firsts it wasn’t ever supposed to end.

Brooke had the right idea into taking things into her own hands to get what she wanted.

I hated that Landyn and his parents shipped her off. They decided on a last-minute trip. My guess is they were embarrassed of their daughters’ actions.

I couldn’t help but wonder what my own parents would think of me if they ever found out.

The only thing my mother worried about was me ending up with a ranked member, and I was going to make sure that happened.

I just wish Brooke could be here for this. I knew she wanted Ben as much as I wanted Myles. I just hope that when she gets back, we both will have what we want.

I started tapping my fingers on the counter. Time was going slower than It ever has.

I felt a link coming in, and I knew that it was time.

“Lexi, he’s in the office. I’m cornered right now, and I need the distraction to get out. It’s time.”

I took a deep breath. I already lost my wolf after what I did to Lily and Ben in the car accident. I had nothing left to lose. She ghosted me. I can still feel a slight presence, but nothing more.

I gathered my thoughts and decided I didn’t have a choice. I had to do this. I would do this. I deserved to be happy.

I let Doctor Mel know I was going to step out to grab a bite to eat.

I made sure to try to stay unnoticed, and I crept my way up to the Alpha floor.

I heard the commotion on the beta floor but kept walking up the stairs.

I walked slower than I should have, but i was starting to have doubts. If I got caught, it would be my head.

But what if Luna Meghans’ plan didn’t work… It had to work, she promised.

I took another deep breath and knocked on his office door. There was no going back now.

He didn’t even bother to open the door. he just yelled, “What!”

I took that as an invitation to come in, and I opened the door.

He looked shocked to see me. “Lexi, what can I help you with. You’ve never come to see me.”

I started to shake and slowly pulled the gun out of my oversized bag.

He stood up slowly. “Lexi, I was really hoping this wasn’t why you were here.”

s**t, why would he suspect this.

I think he picked up on my confused expression because he spoke again. “I know what you and Brooke did to Lily and Ben. Just like I know Luna Meghan asked you to kill me. She’s downstairs in Lily and Myles room looking for something. Do you know what it is?”

“It doesn’t matter.”

He shrugged his shoulders. “You’re right, I’m going to die, and knowing Meghan, I bet those bullets are made out of silver. So before you take my life how about you tell me. Who am I going to tell dead? “

I guess he had a good point. “Meghan had a message from a burner phone from a warlock. He said that a witch was going to teleport into the pack with potions for Lily. He didn’t say what kind or what they would do. He didn’t even say who the witch was. But it was enough to make Luna Meghan panic and check it out. I’m guessing now she’s in a pickle because she linked me to take care of this now.”

“What did she promise you, Lexi? She has done nothing by lie to you. You won’t come out of this alive. I know you have a thing for Myles. She can’t guarantee you love, and why would you want it this way?”

s**t, he could still link. I panicked and shot him in the thigh. He yelled out. I saw the b***d dripping down his leg, and I couldn’t help but stare.

“You just don’t understand what she’s capable of.”

“Oh, but I do Lexi. She lied to me, too.”

I still had the gun up and pointing at him. I turned my gaze to the floor. I was starting to second guess myself.

Before I could change my mind. I looked up to see Alpha Rodger lunging at me, and i shot the gun a second time going straight to his chest.

I felt my eyes bulged out slightly. I watched him fall to the floor, holding his wound.

I was frozen in place. I can’t believe I just did that. I finally got myself together, and I went to Leave.

As soon as I opened the door, Ben was on the other side.

He looked at me, confused and hurt, and stepped back. “Lexi?”

I pointed the gun to his chest. I was only a few feet from him.

“Lexi, no, not again.”

s**t he knew. They all knew. I shot the gun twice back to back and took off running. I didn’t even look back at the mess I had just created. I knew they wouldn’t be able to link with silver in their b***d.

I can’t believe I just killed the Alpha and the future Alpha. I really hope Luna Meghan will understand. I didn’t have a choice.

I started to walk after i got off the Alpha floor. I went back to my work station and tried to act completely normal.

I was lost in thought when I felt a link coming, though. “Is it done?”

“Yes, it’s done.”

“Good, im proud you could actually follow through on something unlike Brooke. Meet me in the spot i showed you earlier in an hour.”

Wait was Brooke is second-guessing herself, too. She always seemed so confident about working with Luna.

Doctor Mel came behind the desk to grab some paperwork. “Umm, Lexi, is that b***d on your shoes?”

“Oh, I must have stepped in some when I was cleaning up.”

“Lexi, I haven’t had any patients with bloody wounds, and no surgeries were done today. “

I once again panicked and grabbed a potted plant on the desk and bashed it against her head.

She was knocked out cold, and I didn’t know how long it would last. I pulled her body behind the desk so no one would notice right away.

I grabbed my bag and headed out before anyone came in.

I got to the back door and headed in the direction where Luna Meghan told me to meet her.

I knew I was early, but I didn’t have another choice. I needed her to take care of Doctor Mel or make her forget.

When I got into the woods. I noticed someone in our meeting spot, and it wasn’t Luna Meghan.

He smelled of pine and snow. The smell was strong. I might not have a wolf right now. But I knew that was the smell of my mate.
