"Ethan rolled up his sleeves and asked, "Flora, anything else?"

Everyone around was practically holding their breath, dreading that Flora might casually single them out, forcing them to leave the medical research center. Flora shook her head, looking unfazed.

A collective sigh of relief swept through the group, as if they'd just dodged a bullet.

Ethan couldn't help but think, Flora is just too kind-hearted!

Amanda and Karter shared the sentiment; their Flora was truly generous.

"Ms. Flora..."

Davis spoke up reluctantly. He wasn't keen to say anything, but Jenna's cries of pain were becoming impossible to ignore.

Jenna was already hurt, and the boiling water scalding her had only added to her misery.

"Did I give you permission to speak?" Ethan shot him a glare. He hadn't even had the chance to chat properly with Flora.

Davis lowered his head, eyes dark with anger and resentment.

How could someone be so disrespectful to their elders? If she weren't the young mistress of the Falcone family, her lack of manners would have earned her a lesson!

But Davis could only entertain those thoughts. Jenna's cries grew louder, and he couldn't stand seeing his daughter in pain. Clenching his jaw, he pleaded once more, "Ms. Flora, my Jenna has been spoiled by me all her life. She upset you at the medical research center, and we just hope you can find it in your heart to forgive her."

"Jenna made a mistake, but she's already been punished. Please, let her off the hook. We're here to apologize to you specifically."

Flora glanced at Jenna, lying on the stretcher barely conscious. Honestly, if Jenna hadn't crossed Selene, she wouldn't have even been on Flora's radar.

She waved them off, "She didn't hurt me, so there's no need to apologize to me. Moss, take them to find Selene."

Moss nodded, his voice calm, "Yes, Ms. Flora."

Davis finally exhaled, relieved that Flora wasn't intentionally making things harder.

"An apology should be sincere. The respect you show me is the same respect you should show Selene, got it?" "Yes, yes, absolutely."

Davis nodded quickly, feeling a bit awkward.

He hadn't really considered Selene important, just another Austenberg resident. He planned to offer a quick apology and move on. But with Flora's warning, he knew he couldn't afford to be dismissive, or he and Jenna might not leave the center today.

"Well, off you go then."

Flora's tone was laid-back. Davis cursed her in his mind a thousand times over but kept a smile plastered on his face, directing his men to carry Jenna upstairs. Everyone watched, their respect for Flora growing.

Davis, a head of a noble family, was reduced to being treated like a subordinate in front of Flora.

"Alright, Mike, you can let everyone

go," Karter chimed in. "In two days,

u

it's my niece Flora's birthday. We've got some little gifts lined up for everyone. Flora's just arrived at the

medical research center, so we hope you can all lend her a hand when needed."

Of course, Flora didn't actually need anyone's help.

She could handle herself just fine at the center.

Karter's announcement had two

purposes: First, to celebrate Flora's

twentieth birthday with a bit of

fanfare, and second, to ensure that

while Flora was at the medical

center for the next two years

everyone knew the balance between

kindness and authority.
