Forsaking the Years of Longing -
Forsaking Billionaire 10
Chapter 10
Charlotte boarded the plane without a backward glance, completely indifferent to what Jaziel and Nolan might do.
As the plane ascended, an unprecedented sense of relief washed over her.
Meanwhile, in the Miami lakeside villa, the atmosphere was suffocating.
Three hours had passed since Jaziel and Nolan arrived with Sophie, yet Charlotte was
nowhere to be seen.
Only their luggage was present in the villa-Charlotte's was conspicuously absent.
Anxiety gnawed at Jaziel, an ominous feeling he couldn't shake, as if something irreversible was unfolding.
Nolan sat on the sofa, his expression unusually grim.
Sophie, fully aware of what had happened, had no intention of revealing it.
Breaking the tense silence, she finally spoke.
"Maybe Charlotte isn't done packing yet. Why don't we start setting up? Didn't we plan to have dinner together tonight? She wouldn't forget."
Though Jaziel nodded in agreement, a deep unease lingered in his heart.
His body remained motionless, but his mind screamed at him to leave and find her.
Nolan, staring at his phone filled with missed calls, grew increasingly restless. Grabbing his jacket in frustration, he threw it on haphazardly and strode out the door.
"I think something happened to Charlotte. I'm going to check," he said curtly before leaving.
Jaziel couldn't sit still any longer. After hurriedly instructing the workers, he turned to Sophie with an apologetic look.
"Sorry, I'm going to check on her too. Stay here; I'll be back soon."
"Jaziel! Nolan!"
Sophie called out to them repeatedly, but neither turned back.
The house they returned to earlier was empty-completely devoid of Charlotte's presence.
Driving through Miami in their luxury cars, the two searched every corner but found no trace of her.
Unconsciously, they both returned to the house they had shared before.
Jaziel's heart skipped a beat as he immediately called Marcus to investigate Charlotte's whereabouts.
Before long, Marcus called back.
"Mr. Jaziel, Charlotte's flight today was bound for New Orleans. She should've already arrived by now."
The words rendered Jaziel and Nolan utterly speechless, as if struck by lightning.
"No... that's impossible..."
Nolan couldn't believe it.
"How could Charlotte suddenly fly back to New Orleans? She promised she'd stay with us in Miami. Marcus, you must've made a mistake!" Jaziel's disbelief matched Nolan's. His voice dropped, serious and commanding.
"Marcus, check again. Confirm it."
There was a pause on the other end of the line.
After double-checking multiple times, Marcus spoke again, his voice trembling.
"Mr. Jaziel, Mr. Nolan, there's... there's no mistake."
He forwarded the flight details to Jaziel, the information undeniable and crystal clear.
Jaziel stared at the screen, half-expecting it to be a hallucination. Turning to Nolan, their eyes met, both filled with equal disbelief. Clatter.
The phone slipped from Jaziel's hand, falling to the ground with a sharp sound.
Their minds were in complete disarray.
They never expected Charlotte would truly leave.
Just hours ago, they'd been talking about moving into their new home together.
Fragments of Charlotte's strange demeanor replayed in their minds-the subtle tension in her expressions as they left earlier.
Nolan, pressing his fingers to his temple, suddenly recalled the last words he'd overheard Charlotte say on the phone before they left: "Everything's ready. I'm about to leave. I should arrive this evening."
