Her Revenge Contract
Chapter 115

Katherine's

POV

The travel agent let go of me, and he immediately charged towards Xavier, pulling out a knife to attack him.

Xavier quickly got rid of the knife, and the man took a step back when he saw dozens of warriors rushing up behind Xavier.

"I didn't do anything," the travel agent yelled, "don't touch me! This woman seduces me and wants to cheat me out of my money."

Xavier glanced at the man with his cold blue eyes and waved at two security men standing close by.

The two security guys ran closer and immediately took out their weapons and pointed them at the travel agent.

The travel agent tried to find a way to run off, but Xavier's warriors cut him off.

I wanted to take advantage of the chaos and leave, but Xavier managed to grab and hold my hand, and I knew it was no use trying to escape.

How the hell did he find me?

The security personnel took matters into their own hands, beat the travel agent a few times, and then carried him away with a swollen eye and split lip. A smile played on Xavier's lips upon seeing it.

After the travel agent was removed, Xavier turned to look at me, his eyes full of pain.

"Xavier," I struggled against his hold, "let me go."

Kia whimpered in my head; she didn't want me to leave him. She wanted to stay by his side.

"Why?" He whispered sadly. "Give me one good reason why I need to go back alone and leave you here. Tell me the truth. What is the reason why you suddenly packed up and left without a word? Don't you love me?"

I was startled at Xavier's words. He sounded in agony at my leaving him.

Xahier held my hand tightly in his, and I could feel my hand becoming soaked in his.

I stared into Xavier's sad blue eyes. I needed to tell him the truth for him to let me go.

My heart ached in my chest. This was more painful for me than it would be for him, but it was for the best.

"I lost my way," I said. "Revenge changed me, and I need to find myself again. I don't like myself the way I am now."

"What about me?" Xavier asked, "I can help you find your way."

The seriousness in Xavier's voice was audible, and it sent shivers down my spine.

Xavier carefully curled his hands around my face, sending the same electric sparks through my body as he bent down.

I could smell his warm, minty breath on me, and I knew he was about to kiss me. I couldn't let that happen, and I slowly pushed Xavier away.

He whimpered.

"Do you really like me?" I whispered, tears burning behind my eyes.

Xavier looked startled at my question, but a faint smile appeared on the corner of her mouth.

"See," I said, "even you hesitated. You don't like what I have become. I will not make you happy in this mindset."

Xavier let go of my hand, and I took a step back.

"Our relationships were built on common interests, Xavier," I said, shaking my head, "and those kinds of relationships never work. They are wrong to begin with. It is better we break off our relationship now than continue and we both get hurt in the end." I held my composure and continued with a smile.

"I have already signed over the company shares and pack to you; what more is there?" I asked. "I have kept my side of the agreement; now we need to go our separate ways."

Xavier looked at me; his face was hard, yet his eyes were dull and sad.

"Is this what it's all about?" He asked, "The King Group?"

He shook his head and lifted his head, looking over my shoulder into the distance, then moved his gaze back to me, becoming serious.

"If I really wanted the King Group," he started, biting down on his teeth, getting angry, "I could have taken advantage of the company the day I found you, which I didn't do. I felt something for you before the bond kicked in. It was always you I wanted!" Hearing this, tears burned behind my eyes.

I couldn't face him anymore, so I turned around and rushed to the exit, wiping the tears from my face.

I wanted to be with him, but I knew that it wouldn't work.

It was pouring outside, and my dress became soaked around my body.

I wasn't sure where I needed to go, and eventually a black SUV stopped next to me.

The driver lowered the window, and Greyson sat behind the wheel.

"Get in!" he called out to me.

"No!" I replied stubbornly.

"Kate," Greyson yelled out; never once did he call me by my name before. "Xavier isn't in the truck. Get in before you get a cold, or else I will go get you myself!"

I sighed, hesitated and gave in.

Greyson handed me a towel to dry myself, then gave me a blanket and switched on the heater.

"Are you okay?" He asked me, looking at me with concern in his eyes.

"I'm fine," I said, refusing to meet Greyson's eyes.

Greyson drove me to my hotel.

"Are you spying on me?" I asked, surprised that Greyson knew where I was standing, feeling uncomfortable.

Greyson did answer me; he opened the car door and held an umbrella out for me.

I quickly walked to reception, told the reception lady who I was, and told her I had a reservation booked under my name.

The reception lady handed me my door card, and I was about to go to the elevator when Greyson walked into the reception area with my luggage.

"I can take it from her," I said to Greyson, taking my luggage from him and getting into the elevator.

I could see Greyson hesitate and knew he was about to follow me, but I stopped him.

When I got to my room, I unlocked the door and dropped the wet blanket on the floor.

I was shivering and headed straight to the bathroom to run myself a bath. My mind was racing in all directions.

How did Xavier find me?

How true were Xavier's feelings for me?

Could I trust him? Why did he lie to me?

What else was he hiding from me?

I soaked in the bath for a while, feeling the water turn cold.

I was about to get dressed when a knock on the door sounded.
