Her Revenge Contract
Chapter 125

Katherine's

POV

I felt the bed dip next to me, and the sound of breathing rang in my ears.

Startled, I jumped out of bed, bewildered and wide awake, and rushed toward the door.

Xavier chuckled amusedly, seeing my reaction, and got off the bed.

"You scared me!" I whispered, holding my chest, as I glanced at Xavier.

"You were sleeping so soundly; I didn't mean to disturb you," he said.

"I thought you told me that Greyson was fetching me?" I asked, a bit confused.

"I got off earlier," he replied, pulling me to his chest.

There was a loud noise coming from the living room, and my gaze moved to the open window, noticing that it had grown dark outside. I glanced at the clock on the wall and realized that it was already past six o'clock in the evening. Sh*t! Did I oversleep?

"What time does the gala dinner start?" I asked, rubbing my eyes.

"At nine, there is no hurry," he said, sitting down on the bed and pulling me into his lap. "The stylists are already set up to do your hair and makeup. You still have time to properly wake up, take a bath, and go meet them." Xavier tenderly rubbed his fingers over my back.

"If you keep on holding me like this, we will never go to the gala dinner on time," I said, feeling Xavier's member hardening and pressing against my upper leg.

Xavier smiled hungrily at me and kissed the tip of my nose. His breathing became heavier by the second.

Excitement pushed up inside me, yet I knew if I didn't get up and leave now, we would never make the gala dinner on time.

"We'd better get a move on," I said, jumping off his lap in one quick movement and rushing to the bathroom.

Xavier caught me before I could close the door, and a naughty smile followed on his lips.

"Will you stay with me tonight?" He whispered in my ear, sending sweet shivers down to my core.

My face heated up, and I burned out of a desire to have Xavier's hands on me. Instead, I pushed him out of the bathroom with a giggle and locked the door.

I wasn't in the bathroom for too long, and when I walked out with the towel wrapped around me, Xavier was already gone.

I sighed.

It would have been much more fun if he had stayed; I guess he left to get ready as well.

"Luna," Kelly's voice came from behind me, and I jumped up in fright. I didn't hear her enter my room.

"My apologies, Luna; I didn't mean to frighten you," she said, walking closer. "This is the dress Alpha Xavier chose for you. He says that he hopes you like it." "Thank you," I said, taking the dress from her, walking to the mirror, and holding the dress in front of me.

"He also said to remind you that the stylist is waiting for you."

I nodded in response, looking at the beautiful dress in the mirror. That was one thing about Xavier: he had an eye for style.

Kelly turned to leave, but I stopped her.

"Tell me, Kelly," I said, shifting my head over my shoulder to look at her, "how is the King Group really doing in my absence?"

Kelly looked at me and moved her head to the side. She was trying to read me.

"Are you asking me about the shares you gave Alpha Xavier?" she asked.

I didn't answer, and a soft smile reached Kelly's lips.

"Luna, you don't need to feel embarrassed," she said. "Alpha Xavier didn't claim your shares at all. The board of directors has no knowledge of the share transfer contract; it would have created internal chaos."

I didn't expect Xavier to do it like this, and I was grateful.

Whether I cared about these shares or not, I was actually worried that the King Group would become a mess because of my sudden departure.

I worked so hard to get the company back; I did not want to be destroyed just like that.

"Alpha Xavier managed the company's affairs in your absence," Kelly said. "There are no threatening issues at the moment; it is just that there is no leader to make the final decisions. It makes the employees restless and unsure." "Which companies are invited to this evening's gala?" I asked, changing the subject.

Kelly took out a list from her bag.

"Here is the list of people invited to the gala dinner tonight," she said, handing me the list. "It's mainly the same companies doing business with us, except this time, Alpha Xavier invited directors from cooperative companies in the area and some other entrepreneurs from our neighboring city."

I glanced at the list, and sure enough, they were all famous and well-presented companies, and it was a great honor to invite these people.

"What is the origin of this MDM company?" I asked, pointing to a line on the list.

Kelly did not raise her head and replied while fixing the back of my dress.

"Although the MDM Group is not well-known in this area, its strength should not be underestimated."

Interesting...

When I was finally done, Kelly opened the door for me, and I went to meet Xavier.

Xavier was already dressed, and when he saw me, his hard, cold face burst into a gentle smile.

Everyone around gasped in surprise.

"You look so beautiful," Xavier said, as he pulled me into a sweet and tender kiss.

The drive to the hotel was quick, and the hotel entrance was quite busy. Businessmen and women stood in front of the hotel, deep in discussions with reporters and friends. Cameras flashed, and reporters were scattered all over to snatch the latest gossip and stories.

The black Rolls-Royce stopped at the entrance, and Xavier got out of the car and straightened his suit. The small movement caused a burst of screams from the crowd, yet Xavier walked around to the passenger side as if he couldn't hear them. He slowly opened the passenger door for me, took my hand in his, helped me from the car, kissed the top of my hand, and we walked hand in hand toward the entrance of the hotel.

Our stylish appearances attracted a lot of attention, and my simple but elegant black cocktail dress, which Xavier picked for me, showed off my long legs.

As we entreated, gossip sprouted around, and I curiously listened to what they had to say-not that it bothered me; I had grown used to the gossip. At least it gave me an idea of what the reporters might ask.

Xavier looked at me, pulled me into his arms, and deliberately kissed me long and slowly, which aroused quite a reaction.

Xavier decided to use The Four Seasons Banquet Hotel, which is a hotel that specializes in large-scale parties. Xavier had originally planned to hold the dinner on his yacht for convenience, but he decided against it when he saw my worried facial reaction.

"I remember that the major shareholder of the Four Seasons Hotel is the MDM Group," I said, watching Xavier's reaction.

Xavier looked at me with a bit of surprise.

"I thought you didn't care about that sort of thing." He whispered in my ear and gave me a praiseworthy smile. "I am impressed that you have done your homework. So tell me, how much do you know about the MDM Group?"

"The MDM Corporation plays in the same league as Black Umbrella, but it is not located in our city," I said, remembering what Kelly told me earlier. "The reason for that is that the two companies do not compete for the same projects. The MDM Corporation does business mostly overseas."

"That's a good summary," Xavier said as we entered the venue. My gaze moved over the crowd in the hall, and I quickly summarized who hadn't arrived yet.

"Have you sent an invitation to the MDM Group?" I asked Xavier.

I remembered seeing MDM's name on the invitation list but didn't see the MDM director in the crowd.

"There are a lot of directors who don't come," Xavier said, not caring.

Xavier headed toward the stage and pulled out a seat for me at the table.

Greyson climbed the few steps to the stage, and Xavier nodded to start the proceedings.

The doors closed, and Greyson tapped on the microphone.

"Evening everyone," Greyson said, silencing the banquet hall. "Black Umbrella Enterprises and the King Group welcome you. Before we dig in and fill our bellies or dance and drink the night away, Mr. Black is willing to answer some questions."

In the beginning, the reporters bombarded Xavier with questions, and he kept his cool and answered them one by one until one of the reporters felt bored and turned his questioning toward me.

"I want to ask Ms. King a question," the reporter said.

My gaze moved over the skinny man with dark, sharp-piercing eyes. He had a sly grin on his lips, which only meant he wanted to cause trouble.

"Ms. King, you disappeared overnight a month ago, which made everyone believe that you had become mentally ill due to the immense pressure you were under to marry Mr. Black," he said. "Is that the reason why you suddenly broke up your engagement?" This question made me a little nervous, and I glanced at Xavier beside me.

Xavier met my gaze and nodded to answer the question.

"It's not true," I said in a clear voice, even though my heart was racing in my chest. "That is just speculation."

"So are you resuming your engagement?" He asked, and his gaze lowered to my hands, "I have noticed that you are not wearing your engagement ring."

I looked down at my bare finger and realized that the ring I had taken off had since disappeared. If I couldn't show the ring, everything I said would be discredited in an instant.

The reporter walked closer with a microphone, and before he could ask any more questions, Xavier got up as well.

"Thank you for everyone's concern for us," he said. "We don't want to recall the past. We only want to move forward."

Xavier turned to me, knelt on one knee, and took my hands in his.

"I won't force you to forgive me," he said. "I just want to tell you that I love you from the bottom of my heart. I hope you can find it in your heart to give me a chance to love you again." Gasping sounded from the audience, and I froze in place, looking at Xavier in total surprise.

Xavier dug into his pants pocket and took out the ring he had proposed to me before and held it out to me.

"Ms. Katherine King, are you willing to give me another chance?"
