Xavier's

POV

"Have you found out the main reason why Brenda suddenly reappeared?" I asked Greyson the moment our meeting ended.

"It seems like she is telling the truth," Greyson answered, yet something tells me he is hiding something.

I raised an eyebrow at him, asking a silent question.

Greyson deliberately ignored my gaze and got to his feet.

"If you would excuse me, Alpha..."

"Greyson..!" I growled from behind my desk, and Greyson froze in his tracks at the door. "You better tell me what you know, or..."

"I will tell you when I have more details," Greyson snapped and turned around, meeting my gaze, "but until then, just trust me. Okay!"

I narrowed my eyes at him, yet I nodded my head and gestured to him that he could go.

What was so disturbing that Greyson wouldn't spare me any details?

Was my ex-mate in trouble?

Was she here to cause trouble?

A depressing breath escaped my lips as my mind wandered down memory lane.

Why would Brenda return at a time like this?

What was so important?

How did she find out about me and Kate?

"It is all over the news," Ray commented. He wasn't very fond of the idea that Brenda had returned. He only foresees trouble coming. Yet he too had this nagging feeling that could just go away.

My mind raced toward Kate earlier today when she chose her engagement ring.

I asked her if she wanted to go do something, but she shook her head, smiling as if she were the luckiest woman alive.

"Xavier," she said, "I would rather have dinner with you tomorrow than tonight."

I wanted to argue until I saw the dark rings under her eyes.

She wasn't sleeping well, or at all, and I gave in, hoping she would go to bed early.

Greyson returned minutes later, yet I could see this was concerning something else.

"Beta John wants to have a meeting regarding a project he is busy with; he needs some assistance."

Greyson walked closer, handed me the email, then poured some coffee and took a seat.

I scanned through the email, finding key concerns.

The King Group has always been involved in real estate and metal projects, but Kate's father was the financial brain behind the projects when he was alive.

Since John took over, the expenditures on the major projects were getting ridiculously high, and it became unprofitable to continue with the projects.

Rumor has it that the two cooperating companies working with John on the projects have threatened to cancel their contracts, this was the main reason why John wasn't selected as CEO by the board of directors.

John couldn't show any profits, and everything he touched ran into a loss.

My gaze scanned the rest of the email. The project he wanted me to consider and join did indeed match our company profile.

I sat back in my chair, deep in thought.

Why would John be so desperate to ask me to get involved?

"What are you thinking?" Greyson asked.

"I'm just wondering why John keeps on pushing," I answered.

"Well, we all know John stinks when it comes to the financial side. If he can get us on board and ensure a long-term relationship, he will not only be able to raise his head in front of the board of directors but also have a say in the company. He might then have a chance to have Luna removed from the CEO position as soon as he can prove he has signed a long-term relationship with Black Umbrella Enterprises."

My phone suddenly rang, and I lazily turned the phone over to see who it was.

I answered the phone and waved at Greyson to leave.

Hello," I answered, and I was greeted with the magical sound of my mate's laughter. She found something hilarious.

"Someone is in a good mood," I commented, wondering what had put Kate in such a good mood.

"Why are you so happy?" I asked, getting more and more curious by the second, "What did you do?"

"Nothing too serious," Kate replied. "I am just one step closer to my goal!"

That's good news, I wanted to say. It meant that we were one step closer to ripping the contract to pieces, and I could claim her as mine.

Kate suddenly stopped laughing, and I wondered if I had said that out loud.

Silence followed... I could hear her breath, and for a second I wondered what was running through that perfect little mind of hers.

A smirk was plastered on my lips, and any fool that walked past my office would think I had lost all my senses of reality.

"Well, I don't really have anything to say, so I will hang up," she suddenly said, coughed, and hung up.

I whimpered when I heard the call was disconnected, feeling a bit depressed and annoyed that she cut the call so quickly.

I sat back, and a small smile slowly crept onto my lips as my imagination ran wild.

I lowered my gaze, and for a second, I imagined Kate standing in my office, only wearing the bare necessities.

Her bright auburn-colored hair was hanging like a curtain around her face, hiding her breasts in the process.

Excitement bubbled inside me as I watched her stalk toward me like a hungry lion.

Kate's green eyes yelled mischief as she got on her knees and removed my belt. Her fingers trailed over my already hardened cock, and her gaze snapped toward me, followed by a smile, as she unzipped my pants and let my cock spring free. Kate didn't hesitate, and her hand grabbed my shaft and pumped it a few times. Then, just as I was about to moan, she wrapped her perfect little full lips around my rock-hard c*ck...

I moaned her name, grabbing her head and helping her with the rhythm.

I was close, yet I refused to waste my seeds like this. Her intoxicating scent drove me insane as I helped her to her feet and bent her over my office desk.

My gaze moves over her beautiful back, ending at her round rear end. I was tempted to give her a spanking and hear her moan my name.

She was such a naughty girl!

"Alpha," Lidia's soft voice called me from the door, and my gaze snapped toward her, confused.

"I am sorry for bothering you, but Beta Grayson said you wanted to see me."

I sighed and shifted my gaze to where Greyson stood at Lidia's office desk. He waved and then chuckled under his hand. Bloody Greyson! I internally growled.

I narrowed my eyes, showing him I was annoyed at him, and turned my attention back to Lidia.

"Yes, uhm, please, would you make reservations for me and Ms. King?" I asked and handed her a business card.

Lidia's gaze moved over the blue and gold business card, and a small smile appeared on her lips before she left my office.
