Her Revenge Contract -
Chapter 87
Katherine's POV
I was pacing up and down my office. I just couldn't believe what I heard.
What did Erika mean when she sacrificed her virginity for John?
How did John influence her to do so? Doesn't he have any respect for his own daughter? Does he just see her as an object? Was he so deep in trouble that he needed to go that low?
Was there someone else playing the middleman?
John had hurriedly covered Erika's mouth when he heard what she said and closed the door nervously behind him.
I was too shocked to listen to the rest of the conversation and went back to my office.
Sarah peeked her head into my office, seeing my worried statement.
"Ms. King, you're back. I was worried," Sarah said, and I lifted my head, looking at her. "Why?" I asked, looking at her confused.
"Ms. Erika seemed to lose control of her emotions. I was afraid she would hurt you."
"No," I said, shaking my head and rubbing my arm subconsciously.
"Ms. King, your arm!" Sarah gasped, and I looked down, seeing the bruise on my upper arm.
"It's nothing; it's just a scratch," I said. "I have applied something."
Sarah's face relaxed when she saw the medical case on my desk.
"It's fine," I told her, "don't worry."
She gave me one more worried look.
"Sarah, it's fine, I promise!"
Sarah nodded and left my office, closing the door behind her.
I breathed a sigh of relief and called Xavier, and within half an hour, Xavier knocked on my door.
I gasped, surprised, getting to my feet.
"I am surprised to see you here. Are you afraid that John knows what I have heard?"
Xavier smirked and pulled me into his arms. His eyes showed a bit of disappointment, but he seemed happy to see me.
"Why did you sleep in the other room last night?" Xavier asked, and sadness reflected in his eyes. "And why didn't you greet me before you left this morning? Don't you want to be with me?"
As he said that, Xavier hugged me closer, and his intoxicating scent was clouding my senses. He applied a bit of force to my waist, forcing me to focus.
My body reacted, and for a second, my imagination went wild.
I could see myself pushing Xavier onto the chair, unbuttoning his shirt to expose his rock-hard chest, then having my lips and fingers roam over his neck, down his chest, and to my pot of gold.
I would tease him as I loosened his belt, slid my index finger between his pants and skin, and slowly unzip and unbutton his pants.
Oh, Goddess.
Xavier felt the subtle changes in my body in an instant. He searched my gaze with great interest, and a small smile reached the side of his lips.
"Tell me you don't want to see me." He whispered in my ear.
Before I could utter a word, Xavier moved away from my ear, and blood rushed to my cheeks.
Xavier's blue eyes immediately changed to those of a hungry wolf, and his lips gradually formed a smile.
"Don't..." I warned weakly, my hands pressing against Xavier's chest, that any sudden movements could trigger my fantasy.
I licked my lips as my gaze locked with Xavier's. He had little devils dancing in his eyes.
Was he smelling my arousal?
Would he allow me to have my small fantasy?
"Sorry for disturbing you two!" John's voice forced us apart, and Xavier's face turned cold in an instant.
"Don't be too polite, King," Xavier said coldly. "I'm just here to fetch my fiancee for lunch. Not to talk business." John immediately responded.
"Of course," John said, "everyone knows that Alpha Black treats his fiancée with great respect and integrity."
Xavier glanced at me, took my hand, and we started toward the exit.
"By the way," Xavier turned toward John, "Kate will take over all the projects between us and the King Group. The conditions will be the same. I will inform her about these new projects a bit later. Many paragraphs are missing. Read the complete book on Jo-bn- ib.c(o)m. So you don't have to worry about me bothering you about the specifics. I think you already have enough on your plate."
Xavier glanced at Erika, who stood beside John, and John's face immediately darkened.
Xavier and I ended up in the park, having some hot dogs and cold coffee.
"This is cute," I said, gesturing to our simple feast.
"You know I can do better, but I thought the fresh air could do us some good," Xavier said.
"I like it," I said, gesturing to the huge trees standing around us. "It's much better than being suffocated by all the fake people in the office."
Xavier took a seat next to me on the bench.
"You believe that someone in the company is helping John, and he offered Erika as payment?"
"It's just a wild guess; I am not 100 percent sure of my facts."
That reminded me of another thing John said.
"By the way, John was on the phone when I followed Erika, and I heard him say something about money laundering."
"Are you sure you heard right?" Xavier asked, and his body tensed.
"I am pretty sure I heard right," I answered, "he was shouting it over the phone at someone."
Xavier frowned, and there was a hint of coldness in his eyes. He looked like he was ready to shift into Ray and was ready to attack anyone who stood in his way.
After our lunch date, Xavier took me back to the office.
He looked a bit distant, and I wondered what was going through his mind.
Did Xavier suspect something? Doesn't he have an idea what was going on?
Was he going to investigate, and if he did, would he share the information with me?
Steven waited for me when I stepped out of the elevator.
"Out on a date with Alpha Black again, Ms. King?" Steven commented as he followed me into my office.
I didn't answer him, and I changed the subject as I pointed to the document on my desk.
"Is this the new contract Xavier talked about?" I asked.
Steven smiled and patted the document.
"That's correct," he answered, smiling.
I decided to look at the contract a bit later and turned to look at Steven, asking the question that'd been bugging me the whole day. "Steven, can you tell me what money laundering is?"
