Her Revenge Contract -
Chapter 86
Katherine's
POV
My gaze scanned over the computer screen, reading John's message one more time.
"Mmm," I muttered to myself, "I wonder what John was hiding in his office?"
How would I play this? I can't just send anyone into John's office.
A smile suddenly pulled at the corners of my lips as a simple idea popped into my head.
"Gosh, Kate!" I muttered to myself as I walked back into my office, closing the door behind me, "You are so evil!"
Yet, I couldn't help but release a little giggle. I was so excited that it bubbled over, and I needed to take a minute to calm myself down. "Okay," I said, taking a seat at my table, "let's do this!"
I picked up my phone and called Erika.
She answered on the first ring, and a naughty grin followed on my lips. This is going to be as easy as taking candy from a baby.
"You bitch!" Erika yelled over the phone, which was expected. "How dare you call me!? Are you calling to provoke me? You seriously have guts!"
"Yes, that I do have..."I internally answered her, smiling as I twirled a couple of stray hairs around my fingers while listening to Erika scream.
"Why are you so upset with me?" I asked sweetly, "I have done nothing wrong. Is sitting at home working on your last nerve? If you don't have anything to do, why don't you come and visit me, and we can talk about it? Then you can get over your boredom." Erika lost it, and she yelled over the phone at me. She was really on the verge of losing control.
"Cousin," I said, lowering my voice, "why are you being like this? I care about you and don't want to piss you off."
After saying this, I suddenly realized that, after being in contact with Erika for a long time, I had learned how to speak and manipulate my way into her calming down. I found it quite exciting to talk like this. "Kate," Erika growled over the phone, "don't think you are better than me because you have a man by your side. If there was no Xavier, who would have wanted you? You are not even worth the filth of my shoes." Erika was furious, cursing me nonstop. It was time to let Erika out to do what she did best: create some havoc.
"Cousin, don't be angry," I said calmly. "I just called to inform you about one small thing..."
Erika went silent on the other side of the line. Did she fall for my little lie?
"And what is that?" She growled, irritated.
"The staff member who you bribed at the celebration banquet just walked into my office a moment ago. I wasn't sure what to do with him, so I sent him straight toward your father's office." "What is your point?" She sneered.
"He was holding an envelope, and he looked quite desperate."
Sure enough, as soon as the last word left my lips, Erika stopped cursing, and I could hear her fiddling nervously.
Was she scared?
"I know that your reputation has suffered, and that's why I am calling. I don't want you to do anything stupid now and make the situation worse."
With that, I dropped the call and sat back with a smile on my lips. It shouldn't be long before Erika rushes in.
I picked up the office phone and called reception.
"Luna," Kelly answered, "what can I do for you?"
"Let me know when Erika King arrives," I instructed.
"Will do."
I sighed. I was working on my own nerves while I waited for Erika to arrive.
I got up, grabbed my cup, and started toward the kitchen.
"Ms. King," Sarah called, rushing behind me. I stopped and turned around.
"Yes?" I asked as I scanned Sarah's gaze. She seemed to be a bit nervous.
Sarah's gaze moved to the cup in my hands.
"Ms. King, uh, bringing you coffee is my job," Sarah said nervously, taking the cup from me. "If HR hears about you making your own coffee, they might just cut my wage in half." I rolled my eyes at her and turned back toward my office.
Sarah was afraid I would leave.
Less than 20 minutes later, I received a call from Kelly: Erika had arrived at reception, and the security guards were trying to contain her.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"A group of people are trying to help security," Kelly replied, chuckling under her breath, "but it seems they are giving up."
"Oh?" I smiled. I can just imagine how this would end.
"Yes, they are following behind her; she just got into the elevator."
"Thanks," I said, dropping the call.
I took advantage of the opportunity and wanted to see what would happen.
Sarah tried to stop me from leaving my office, but I bypassed her, took the stairs, and walked straight into the crowd of people standing in the reception area on John's floor. When the crowd of people saw me, they breathed a sigh of relief.
"Erika," I called, trying to keep my pose and be serious, "don't be irrational; you can't break into your father's office."
I walked toward her and grabbed her arm, yet I knew Erika's character-the more I tried to stop her, the more she would want to do it, and that was what I was aiming for.
"Go away!" Erika yelled and pulled her arm out of my grip, rushing toward her father's office. The employees stopped in their tracks, and only I rushed behind her and pretended to intercept her.
As soon as I came around the bend in the hallway, I could hear John yelling over the phone almost hysterically.
"Do you think I don't want to?" John yelled. "That little girl has almost emptied all my rights in the company. How do you want me to launder money for you? The only two accounts that carry any profit aren't under my control. I can't move a cent!" "Money Laundering?" I repeated John's words in my mind, and a cold chill ran down my spine.
Erika rushed into John's office, throwing the door wide open.
John froze out of shock with the phone in his hand, seeing Erika.
"Father," Erika yelled, "Where is that man?"
As soon as John got over the shock of Erika barging in, he was instantly furious and got up, rushed to her side, and slapped her twice.
"I told you to stay at home!" John growled under his breath, and his eyes turned red out of anger. "Who gave you permission to leave home?"
Erika, who was already pissed, lifted her gaze at her father and yelled back at him. "Who gave me permission to leave?" She snorted through gritted teeth. "Did I do something shameful here? I have already apologized; what else do you want me to do?" Erika took a step closer toward her father; anger radiated around her, and it seemed that her wolf had enough of the way her father treated her.
"Do you want to beat me to death?" She asked, and her eyes flickered black. "Come on!" she yelled, "come on and hit me again!"
I couldn't help but sneer at John's expense. Erika's ability to provoke the worst out of people was beyond the reach of normal people. It even stunned her father.
"I really don't know how you can call yourself a father," Erika growled, pissed. "I had to sacrifice my virginity for you to sit so comfortably in your seat. Do you think you are so safe in your expensive leather chair?"
