Jennie turns around and looks at her cousin, standing in the sitting room waiting for Jennie to show them their rooms. Jennie sighs. She knew she and Dante were on the verge of making love again, and, in a way, she was glad Alexa stopped them. She looks at the thin boy, and her heart goes out to the little one. Jennie bends down to talk to him. Little Jack instantly covers his arms and little body as if she will harm him. Jennie takes him carefully and hugs him to her. Alexa looks around the house and does not care about Jennie and her son.

“Your room is upstairs, first door to your left. It has a bathroom. I will take Jack to his room,” Jennie says, as she wants to be alone with the boy. Jennie suspects that little Jack has a rough life. Alexa walks upstairs. Jennie can see the little boy is afraid of his mommy and looks relieved when Alexa leaves.

“You want something to eat?” Jennie asks.

“Yes, please,” Jack talks for the first time. He likes this aunt, who looks friendly, and he is hungry. Jack has not eaten in three days. His father and mother do not care about him, and he somedays goes to school hungry. They never gave him money for lunch at school, but some of his friends would give him some of their food, not that Jack has many friends. The school he goes to is in a bad neighbourhood, and most children there grows up like him.

Jennie takes Jack to the kitchen and cooks some pancakes, bacon, and eggs. She puts the plate of food in front of Jack, and she can see by the way he eats he is not used to getting a decent breakfast. It is still early, and Jennie takes him upstairs. His clothes are rags, and she takes some of Jayden’s clothes that are too small for him and gives them to Jack. Jack looks at her and smiles for the first time. He never gets new clothes, only clothes that the lady living next to his parents gives him. Like his father, his full name is Jackson, but he hates his father and mother. They never care about him, and both are out all the time. His mother will come home some night with men, and then he has to stay in his room while she and the man are busy. Sometimes his mother and father have parties, and then both of them have partners for the night. Jack always came last to them. They did not care if there was no food for him. His mother worked as a waiter, so she ate at her job. His father ate the leftovers she brought home when Jack was already asleep. Bit by bit Jennie gets little Jack’s story out of him. Jennie can not believe a mother and father can be heartless towards their child. She k****s little Jack’s cheek. He is a more petite build than Jayden, so she will give him all Jayden’s clothes that Jayden has outgrown. Jennie plans on putting Jack in the same school as Jayden and Jayda. So when she goes to pick up her children, she asks Alexa if she wants to go with her.

“No, thank you. If you want to put that ungrateful little brat in a school, you can pay for it,” Alexa says and looks at her son. Jennie can see the way Jack pulls into a bundle of nerves as his mother walks closer to him. Jennie jumps in between Jack and Alexa and pushes Jack behind her.

“If you dare to hurt this child in my house, I will kick you out and let Andrei take care of you and Jackson. Do you understand me, Alexa? From this day on, Jack is under my care!” Jennie says, and Alexa looks at Jennie with a pale face. She knows what Andrei will do to her and Jackson if he finds out what was going on with Jack.

“Fine, you can keep the brat. The brat was just in my way anyway,” Alexa says.

“When I get back, I want you out of my house. I don’t care where you go. If not, Andrei is in town,” Jennie says.

“Are you kicking me out?” Alexa asks.

“You can stay in the bachelor flat at the back of the house, but only until the end of the month, then I want you gone,” Jennie says. She lost the last respect she had for her cousin. Jennie gets the key to the bachelor flat and hands it to Alexa. Alexa is happy. She no longer has to drag the boy with her everywhere she goes, and she will be staying on her own. She is not planning to move out at the end of the month. Jennie does not have to know that, though. Jennie has a soft heart, and Alexa knows how to play on her feelings. Jennie was always a pushover.

As Jennie walks out of the house to the car with Jack, she can see the child looking more relaxed. Dante is waiting for them, and Jennie sighs. She walks over to his SUV as it is blocking her driveway, and she can not get out if she does not move. Dante gets out of the car and looks at the little boy with a frown. What is the child doing with Jennie?

“I will explain later. But, first, we have to get the little man into Jayden and Jayda’s school. His mother and father are monsters, and this poor child had one hell of a life,” Jennie tells Dante in Italian. She does not want to speak Russian as she is sure that Jack, like Jayden and Jayda, can understand and speak Russian. Dante nods. He suspected it, and he walked over to little Jack, who looked afraid of the big man walking to him. Dante smiles at Jack, picks him up, and puts him into the SUV. Jack relaxes as he sees Dante is not going to hurt him.

“You are not going to give him back to Alexa, are you?” Dante asks Jennie, also speaking in Italian.

“Over my dead body. Look at the little boy. He looks like a scared mouse,” Jennie says, and Dante can not help but love Jennie more. His mother went through child abuse, and he already has a soft spot for the little boy in his heart as he knows what his mother went through. They arrive at school, and Jennie, Dante and Jack walk in. It takes them time to register Jack for school as Dante had to get all his documents ready. The twins are waiting outside with Jack. Jayda takes Jack under her wing, and quickly he starts feeling close to her. Jayden is still a bit sceptical, but as soon as he sees Jayda and Jack beginning to make friends, he joins in. He sees Jack as a little brother soon as Jack looks up to Jayden and everything he does. Jayden is a little leader, likes Jack being his follower, and soon he promises to protect Jack against anyone who wants to hurt him. Jayda is happy and wonders if Jack will stay with them and his mother and father are. After what seems like hours, Dante and Jennie come walking out. They arranged that only one of them or their security guards could pick up Jayden, Jayda or Jack.

Dante is worried. He is afraid that Jackson will try and make trouble once he knows that Jack is no longer with Alexa and her cousin, who has money. Dante understands men like Jackson will try and get money out of the person who is now taking responsibility for his child. However, Dante knows he can not let little Jack back into the hands of a mother and father like Jackson and Alexa. Dante can not let an innocent child suffer, and he knows Jennie will fight for little Jack. So he will help her in any way he can. They drop the children off on the farm with Jen and Logan and drive back to town after telling Jen and Logan what is going on. Jen knows how it feels to be abused by your parents and immediately takes Jack under her wing. Dante drives to Jennie’s house, and he and his men load her into his SUV. Jennie is sitting on the passenger side next to Dante.

“Where are we going?” Alexa asks.

“You are coming with us to see your husband or lover or whatever Jackson is of yours,” Dante says. Alexa frowns but agrees as she looks at the big men next to her. Andrei is following them, and she knows she is in big trouble with the head of the Petrov family. Dante has called Andrei and told him about little Jack. Andrei is furious as Jack is a Petrov and the responsibility of the Petrov family. He feels disgusted by Alexa and Jackson. Dante found out that Jackson was in Houston as he followed Alexa, and he thinks the two of them had a plan from the start, but he does not know if it is true. Dante has a good network in the underworld, and sniffing out a small-time crook like Jackson is easy.

“Jackson is in LA. He is not here. He has a wealthy girlfriend there, and he does not want Jack and me anymore,” Alexa says. She is sticking to her story, and she will not change it. Dante says nothing. He drives straight to where Jackson is living at the moment. Alexa is starting to panic as she sees where they are going. They get out of the SUV as it comes to a hold.

“You should stay here outside, sweetheart. It would be best if you didn’t get hurt,” Dante says to Jennie, but she is out of the SUV before Dante can lock her inside.

“Listen here, Poo bear, I am coming with you,” Jennie says.

“Don’t call me Poo bear,” Dante says, frowning.

“Then don’t call me sweetheart,” Jennie hits back. Dante looks at his men and Andrei, who want to laugh but don’t dare, as they look at Dante’s face. They walk up to the door of the apartment where Jackson is staying. Before anyone can do anything, Jennie knocks. Jackson opens the door. Everything happens so fast that Dante can not even step in between Jackson and Jennie. Jennie kicks Jackson between his legs, and as he bends down in pain, she hits him on his nose. B***d is spilling everywhere. Jackson falls to the ground, and Jennie kicks him in his ribs.

“Stop! You are going to kill him!” Alexa screams. Jackson is lying on the ground screaming in pain. Dante grabs Jennie and pulls her of Jackson as she keeps kicking him.

“Scum like him deserves to die,” Jennie says as she tries to get the last kick in before Dante takes her aside and tries to calm her. Andrei and Dante are surprised at Jennie’s fighting skills. Who knew a soft-hearted person like Jennie had it in her to take down a man twice her size? Dante and Andrei feel proud of Jennie. Alexa runs to Jackson to see if he is okay.

“You have a choice. Either you come with us, or you die with Jackson. He is going to die because no one touches a Petrov and hurts a child of ours and live to tell the story,” Jennie says to Alexa.

“Jennie is right. This piece of crap is going to die tonight, and if you want to live, you better choose wisely, cousin,” Andrei says.

“We have two conditions, though. First, Jack stays with me under my custody, and you get a job and better your life,” Jennie says to Alexa.

‘What did that little brat tell you? He is lying and ungrateful for what Jackson and I do for him,” Alexa says.

“He told me nothing, but the blue and black marks on his little body told me a lot!” Jennie lies, taking a chance.

“He fell,” Alexa lies.

“You got five seconds to make your choice, or you will be going with Jackson and Andrei and his men,” Jennie says. Alexa looks at Jackson, standing between two of Andrei’s men.

“Sorry, darling, but I love my life more than I love you. Good luck, and I hope your death is quick and painless,” Alexa says to Jackson as she walks out of the apartment. Jackson screams after her to help him, but Alexa pretends not to hear him. He was only a loser anyway. So instead, she got a better target, hoping to get Dante back fast. It would be easy if she could get into his bed.
