His destined mate -
Chapter 58: Shadows of the Past
Ethan's
POV
The shadowy figure snapped, and I barely had time to react. Instinct kicked in, and I twisted sideways, narrowly avoiding the blade, aiming for my heart. His attackers stumbled around me and as they regained their balance, I confronted them. It was one of Derek's henchmen, staring at him, determined to cause chaos after them. All around me I could hear the sounds of the fierce battle: screams, clanging metal, crackling fireworks. But right now, it was just me and this attacker. "Stay away from him!" Bianca rushed towards me, her voice shrill, cutting through the commotion, her magic seething in the surrounding air. She raised her hands quickly, and energy surged from his fingertips, illuminating the darkening sky. The attacker hesitated as his eyes widened in fear of her power. "Your fight is me!" I screamed, stepping forward and clenching my wrists. "You think you can threaten my family and my kingdom for nothing?"
The eater smiled, his eyes narrowing in malevolence. "Derek promised us power. You are a fleeting memory." In a moment the attacker kicked again, but this time I was ready. I stepped aside, grabbed their wrists, and twisted them hard, disarming them.
The waist fell to the ground, and I threw down the attacker, forcing them to stagger back. "Ethan!" she said, smirking. Bianca was ready to release another spell. "not!" I interrupted, my heart pounding.
"We can't waste our strength on any infantry. We need to find Derek and end this now." He got up with strong emotions. "Acceptance. But we also have to protect others."
Just then a distant roar burst from the castle grounds. I looked over my shoulder and saw flames engulfing the edges of the castle and the stables completely engulfed.
Panic spread like wildfire among the nobles, some fled to the castle, others fled into confusion. "We need to get together again!" I yelled at Bianca.
"Let's gather our guards and move on Derek's army." Together we ran into the main courtyard, where I saw Elara and a few loyal nobles fighting off Derek's followers.
The clash of swords and the screams of the wounded filled the air, but Elara's eyes shone with determination. "Ethan!" She said, smirking. She called, her voice barely audible over the noise. "We are more than enough. We need a way to do that!" "Fall back into the castle!"
I assembled our troops and gave the order. "As we regroup, we will build barriers and protect the elites." As the battle intensified, Bianca and I moved quickly, gathering our allies and pushing them towards the protective walls of the castle. But as we fought, I could feel Derek's presence lurking in the shadows, watching, waiting for the perfect moment.
Bianca's POV
As we waded through the chaos, I couldn't shake the feeling that this was all part of Derek's plan. His goal was more than violence; He wanted to tear down everything Ethan has built. "Stay close!" he said. I shouted to the nobles and I channeled my magic to create an energy barrier around us. It was bright and shiny, providing an instant shield against attacks.
But Derek's fans were going on, and there were too many of them. I could feel the tension and energy of my magic draining with every spell I cast. "Ethan, we need to find a way to cut the reinforcements!" I said in a hurry. "If we can disrupt their supply chain, we can turn the tide."
"I agree," he said, scanning the battlefield for any sign of Derek. "But we have to find him first. He is planning all these attacks." Just then the commotion started on our right. A group of Derek's supporters had broken down the main gate and charged into the courtyard with weapons drawn.
"Get ready!" he said, smirking. I shouted, ready to release another wave of magic. But before I could react, a figure emerged from the smoke-Derek himself, his face a twisted mixture of triumph and malice. "Ethan! Bianca!" he said, smirking. called a voice cutting through the commotion.
"I hope you enjoy the show. This is just the beginning of your downfall." "Ethan!" he exclaimed. I screamed back, my anger boiling hot. "This is coming to an end now!"
He laughed, a cold sound that sent shivers down my spine. "You think you can stop me? You have despised me for too long. I have supporters you haven't seen yet." Suddenly, a distant horn echoed throughout the battlefield. Ethan and I exchanged worried looks. This was not just a war; It was quite revolting. "Listen to that!" he said. Derek exclaimed, excitement radiating from him. "I have a lot of allies coming! You're around, Ethan.
This is your account." "You've played enough, Derek!" Ethan stepped forward and shouted, protest radiating from him. "You can't take what does not belongs to you"
With a deep breath I summoned the last of my energy, a glowing lightsaber burst from my palm, the energy pushing back against the attacker forming a barrier that held up for a moment, but I could hear his thoughts and the feeling of confusion.
"Ethan!" he said, smirking. I screamed, urgency in my voice. "We have to make a choice. We can't hold this line forever. We need to meet Derek!" His determination was written on his face. "Then let's finish this together."
As we pushed through the chaos, the shadows of our enemies closing in on us, I caught sight of Derek smiling, a menacing gleam in his eye. At the time, I knew that the battle for our kingdom had only just begun, and that everything we held dear was at stake. "Let's go!" he said, smirking.
Ethan shouted as he attacked Derek. But just as we were driving, the ground shook violently below us, and a powerful explosion exploded nearby. A wall of fire swept over us, threatening to engulf everything in its path. "Ethan, be careful!" I cried out as the fire approached, our fate hanging by a thread.
