His destined mate -
Chapter 55: Go to the Abyss
Ethan's POV
When I fell, it was like forever, the world collapsing in chaos on top of me. My mind raced as I tried to regain my composure, but the effect was inevitable.
I prepared to meet the ground, and darkness closed in on me. When I finally landed, a warm gasp knocked the breath out of my lungs. I panicked and tried to push myself up, but pain radiated through my body.
With my eyes fixed on the dust and debris, I scanned my surroundings for my surroundings. I was in a narrow stone house, with castle walls scattered all around me. In the distance, the sounds of battle echoed in our heads, muffled but still violent.
I pushed myself to my feet, every move sending shock waves of pain through my veins. "Derek!" he exclaimed. I called, my voice hoarse. There is no answer. Panic struck me as I remembered his last words-a threat hanging in the air. I had to find him and Bianca.
I stumbled to a nearby exit, but the debris made it difficult to make my way. In the distance you could hear the roar of fireworks and the shouts of soldiers. The castle was falling, and we were caught in the distance.
With renewed patience, I began to mend my way through the ruins. Each stone was heavier than the last, and the smoke thickened, making it difficult to breathe. I couldn't be afraid. I had to find Bianca; I couldn't leave him. Eventually, I opened another path, partially blocked by fallen trees.
Here the air cooled and voices could be heard ahead. They were close to a battle, where Derek and his army were spreading chaos. I pressed on, urgency increasing my every step. As I approached the main room, I saw shadows move By Bianca's POV
The chaos around me was unrelenting. After releasing my magic to stop Derek's pursuers, I had retreated to the stable, where I was helping the nobles protect their horses. My heart pounded with worry for Ethan; I had seen her fall out with Derek, but I couldn't get over it. "Mrs. Bianca!" he said.
A noble shouted, pulling me back to reality. "We have to go! They're getting back together!" "I know!" I replied, my voice steady despite my fear. "But we can't go on without Ethan!" That's when I saw Elara, emerging from the shadows and her face hard. "We do a lot, Bianca. We have to make a choice-fight or flight". I felt very disappointed.
"Ethan is still out there! We can't leave him!" "Elara, gather the others," Lord Phelan said in his determined voice. "We're doing something distracting. If Bianca can stop Derek's army, we can get these guys."
I nodded gratefully at the support. "Let's do it. If we can make an opening, I can break the horn." As the nobles lined up, I took a deep breath and let my magic flow again. I could feel my determination burn as the energy burned inside me. The conflagration of the castle was not mere destruction; They were a call to action. "We charge at my sign!" I ordered, and raised my hand, summoning a protective barrier around us. The wind blew with force and I felt every ounce of my magic come to life. Ethan's POV
After what felt like an eternity of scrambling through the wreckage, I finally reached the main building. My heart sank as I saw the aftermath of Derek's destruction-dead bodies on the ground and flames everywhere. Then, I heard a familiar voice. "Ethan!" he said, smirking. "Bianca!" he said, smirking.
I screamed, my heart pounding. I prayed through the flames and smoke, praying I wouldn't be late. I stumbled into the clearing, where I saw him standing commandingly, the barrier flashing around him as he confronted a horde of Derek's followers "Stay there again!" he said, smirking.
He commanded in a steady voice. "Bianca!" he said, smirking. I sighed, relief washed over me. I rushed to his side, joining him as the obstacle increased. "You don't have to come here! We have to get out of it!"
"No, we're fighting!" He replied with determination written on his face. "We can't let them win!" Before I could react, Derek's followers charged at us, malice in their eyes. I felt my emotions kick in, adrenaline surging as I prepared to fight. We stood back to back, the barrier glowing as our combined magic spread.
With every burst of energy we pushed back the attackers, but more kept coming. "Ethan, we can't force them forever!" Bianca screamed, sweat glistening on her face. "We need to find Derek!" I demanded, and our views shifted as we pushed through the incoming wave.
Just then a figure emerged from the shadows-Derek, his face contorted with anger. "You think you can beat me? This is just the beginning!" "Why are you doing this?" he asked. I shouted, my voice booming in the commotion. "This is not power; It's stupid!"
Derek chuckled, the sound hollow. "Power comes from fear, brother. And soon, everyone will be afraid of me!" With a wave of his hand the ground shook again, and a crack opened beneath us. I grabbed Bianca, pulling her back as we stumbled away from the cliff.
"This isn't over yet, Ethan!" Derek roared, anger writing on his face. "You'll regret cutting me any day!" As Derek prepares to strike again, the room shakes violently. I felt the ground shake beneath us, and I knew our time was up. The castle was crumbling, and we would soon be buried alive. "Bianca, we have to go now!" I screamed, but before I could stop, the roof began to fall on us. "Ethan!" he said, smirking. Bianca screamed, fear in her eyes. I leaned forward, holding his hand as the rocks tumbled down around us.
The world became a haze of dust and darkness as they fought to escape the impending doom. "wait!" I screamed, but the last thing I saw was Derek's twisted smile as darkness swallowed us all up.
