His Little Wolf
Chapter 10

Bethany

I wake up slowly opening my eyes as the sun blares in through a tiny gap in my curtains, I stretch out my tired limbs and check the time 6.30 am. Every morning I wake up at 6.30 am, it doesn’t matter if I go to sleep at 8 pm or 3 am I’m still up like clockwork.

There is one perk to being up early though and that’s getting in a nice early morning walk along the lake before breakfast. I head for the bathroom, turn on the shower, strip off and step under the perfectly warm water. Once I’m thoroughly washed, I step out, brush my teeth and dry my hair.

It’s early and already crazy hot so the fewer clothes the better today. I put on my favourite light blue ripped jean short shorts and a simple strapless pale pink top, I stick my hair up in a messy bun, put on my pink flip flops, and grab my phone and sunglasses before leaving my room. I head next door to check on Bella and she’s still peacefully sleeping.

Since we arrived here Calvin has stayed true to his word that we would raise Bella as a family and so far, it has been working out well, I take her out for walks often to the park and we play with her toys and she sleeps in my room whenever I want her to.

Both Brooke and Calvin have said they’d never stop me doing anything I want to with Bella, I have a special bond with her that they’d never try and take away from me and I’m grateful for that.

I step outside the packhouse and make my way to the lake; the sun is beaming already and as I slip on my glasses; I can’t help the content feeling that flows through my body. I make it to the lake in less than 15 minutes and decide to take a seat on the wooden harbour that’s here. I take off my flip-flops and let my feet dangle in the water, humming away while I enjoy every single second.

I start thinking about how much things have changed in the short time I’ve been here and how much everyone has welcomed me and

Bella and instantly seen us like family. The day after we arrived here was my 15th birthday and I will be honest, I completely forgot about it until I got up the next morning to balloons and banners in the living room and presents wrapped up under the window,

bless Brooke’s heart she was grieving herself and yet she still made it as special as it could be, she even threw me a small dinner party in the evening with some of their closest friends and family and I felt so blessed that these people turned up despite them not really knowing me yet.

“Good morning little wolf.” I’m pulled out of my thoughts by a smooth voice, I don’t need to look to see who it is, Beta Liam is the only one who calls me that here. We have become quite close since I arrived, he’s always helping me whenever I need it and seems to be quite protective of me which I kind of like a lot.

To be honest with you, I think I’d like anything that he does, I’ve developed a severe crush on him since I came here, and the niceness and protectiveness, he’s always showing me along with how much we seem to of bonded is not helping my crush on him one bit.

He may be 4 years older than me but I can’t help but hope that he’s my mate, I’ve not told anyone because I know they’ll just think it’s some teenage crush and maybe it is but it doesn’t feel like just a teenage crush, it feels like more and I can’t wait to turn 18 and find out, although I’m not sure what I’ll do if he meets his mate before I’m 18 but for now I’m choosing not to think about that.

“Good morning, Beta Liam.”

“Every time I see you, I tell you not to call me Beta and yet every time I see you, you insist on calling me it, will you ever stop my little wolf?” He’s looking at me with such a beautiful smile and every time he calls me his little wolf, I feel my knees go weak.

“I’m sorry Liam, I promise to work on it!”

“That’s my girl!” And there go my knees again, so it turns out my reaction isn’t just to him calling me his little wolf, it’s to anything he calls me that involves me being his, Great!

“What are you doing out here anyway?” He slips on his sunglasses as he’s talking and my heart speeds up. He’s 19 and unmated which doesn’t help my situation, he’s got dark brown hair always kept up in a man bun with the bottom half of his head shaved, he’s got the most beautiful brown eyes I have ever seen, throw in his five o’clock shadow and body completely all muscle and I don’t see my crush going anywhere anytime soon.

“I come out here for a walk every morning, but I’m not feeling great today so I decided to stop and sit for a little while, enjoy the peace before the c*****e of breakfast begins.”

We both let out a chuckle at the breakfast comment but we both know it’s the truth, Breakfast is the craziest time of the day in this place.

“What are you doing out here?” I turn his question back on him.

“I couldn’t sleep so I went for a run with my wolf Jonah!” I still haven’t seen his wolf but he has already promised to show me one day.

“Wait, you said you weren’t feeling great, what’s wrong Beth?” He’s got serious very quickly, full of concern.

“Oh, it’s nothing, don’t worry I’ll be fine!” I shoot him an assuring smile but I don’t think he buys it.

*Ring ring* ring ring*

“Hey Brooke, everything ok?”

“Morning Beth, where are you, sweetheart?”

“I’m by the lake talking with Beta Liam, how what’s up?”

“We’re heading down for breakfast now, I’ve got Bella.”

“Ok, I’ll meet you by the kitchen.”

“Ok sweetheart, see you soon.”

I say goodbye before putting my phone back in my pocket hoping Brooke’s phone call saves me from having to explain myself to Liam, there’s nothing wrong, I’m just on my period but I don’t know how Liam will take it, some men freak so so easily about that kind of stuff.

“That was Brooke, they are on their way to breakfast, I said I’d meet them by the kitchen, you coming?” I stand up as I finish speaking to Liam and he walks with me to the kitchen.

“Hey, sweetheart how was your walk this morning? Brooke always graces me with a big beautiful smile no matter what the time day or night.

“It was lovely as always.” I return her smile.

“Hey Petal, come see me!” I put out my hands for Bella and she reaches out to me smiling, Petal is the name that Josh and Harley always called her, so we’ll continue to do it for them.

We all make our way into the kitchen, I put Bella in her high seat and go get us both food, pancakes, and cut up fruit for Bella and pancakes with hash browns, bacon, eggs, and toast for me, plus a side of fruit and coffee.

I put Bella’s food on her tray and she dives right in, her taste for food has grown amazingly since we’ve been here and she loves to feed herself. I take a seat next to her and Liam takes the seat on the other side of her soon after.

Beta Liam

Everyone’s enjoying their breakfast including little Bella, she’s feeding herself cut-up fruit while she giggles away, there’s fruit all over the chair, floor, and herself but she’s loving it so who cares. I look over to Beth and notice she has barely touched her food and she looks pale and then I remember she mentioned she wasn’t feeling well at the lake, and I’m instantly panicked, how the f**k could I forget?

“Liam everything ok bro?” Cal links me.

“Yeah, fine mate, you, ok?”

“I’m fine Liam, now if you’ve finished lying to me, I’ll ask again, what’s wrong?”

“I’m just worried about Beth!”

“Why what’s wrong?” Now he’s sounding panicked too, I love how much he cares for her already.

“She mentioned by the lake earlier that she wasn’t feeling great and I’ve noticed how pale she looks and she has barely touched her food.” I see him look at her before linking me again.

“Yeah, I can see what you mean, leave it with me.” I send him a grateful smile and continue with my breakfast, discreetly checking on Beth as much as I can without getting caught, I’m about 5 seconds away from feeding her myself when I feel a mind-link coming through.

“She’s ok brother, she has got her period that’s all and Brooke said she always gets them bad and it’s normal for her to be pale.”

“Ahh thank f**k that for! I’m glad it’s nothing serious but I still don’t like it.”

“I know, honestly I’m the same with Brooke, but she’ll be fine don’t worry, Brooke will make sure of it.”

“I know, thank you, Cal, make sure to let me know if she needs anything ok?” He nods my way and we join back in the chatter around the table.

“Liam, are you busy after breakfast?” Ashley asks me from across the table.

“I’ve got warrior training at 9.30 but nothing before, how?”

“Would you be a doll and take me to Walmart quickly, please? Jack has got to go out for work and needs his truck and my baby is in the garage, besides it’s been ages since you have taken me on a date!” He shoots me a wink and I can’t hold back my laugh.

“Don’t do it, Liam, you know you’ll be sorry,” Jack smirks my way while winking at Ashley.

“Off course, I’ll take you beautiful, make sure to wear something pretty now, won’t you? I can’t take you on a date in your joggers and topless.” I blow him a k**s and he catches it mid-air.

“Anything for you Beta Liam.” He says in his seductive tone and we all burst out laughing.

“Are these two always like this?” Beth asks while giggling and it’s so goddam cute.

“Always Beth!” Jack answers her as he throws in a dramatic eye roll and sets her off giggling again.

“I’d keep my eye on those two if I was you, Jack!” Cal joins in.

“Oh, please, Liam would f*****g throw him back at me after 1 day!”

“And I thought you loved me my darling Jack.”

“Oh, I do my darling but you know I’m right.”

“You’re lucky to be blessed with my a*s and you know it!”

“That I am baby, that I am.”

“Right beautiful, go and get yourself dolled up and I’ll meet you outside in 20 minutes for a romantic date to Walmart.” Ashley

agrees and blows me a k**s before leaving the table and by the time everyone else leaves we are all aching from laughing so much and Beth looks perkier too which I’m grateful for.

“Cal can you text me some stuff I can pick up for Beth while I’m out, I’ll give them to Brooke to give to her so she doesn’t know I got them.” He links back agreeing while Beth and Brooke disappear from the kitchen to bathe Bella.

40 minutes later I’m on my way to Walmart with Ashley and a text of Brooke giving me ideas for Beth. I hate that I can’t comfort her right now when she is feeling Ill but I have to keep reminding myself and Jonah that our time will come and we will more than make up for it but for now we will do what we can in the background and make sure she doesn’t want for anything.

I know she wouldn’t go without anything with Brooke and Cal around but I want to be the one providing for her, it’s my job as her mate and luckily for me both Brooke and Calvin know exactly how I feel.

Not long after Beth arrived and after I nagged for a little while they agreed I could take on her financial care so anything she needs or wants I pay for. I check in with Cal every night and transfer any money he’s spent on her back to him. I want to look after her in every way but I can’t, but looking after her financially helps keep both me and Jonah going while we wait for our time to come, wait and wait…
