Chapter 9

Bethany

“Ok Beth this is your room; my bedroom is two doors down and Bella’s room is in between us, ok?” I nod with a small smile as Brooke opens up the large wooden door in front of me. I step inside and the room is massive, a lot bigger than my room back home, there is a queen-size bed with grey and mustard silk sheets, duvet cover, and pillowcases all matching.

A huge tv on the wall in front of the bed, It has to be at least 60 inches big. A grey sofa at the bottom of the bed with a small coffee table in front of it. To the side of the tv, two French doors open up onto a balcony, to the other side of the doors is a large vanity table and stool and there’s a large mustard rug spread across the floor over a light grey carpet.

“Wow, this is beautiful Brooke, thank you! You didn’t need to do all this, honestly!”

“I didn’t, I would love to take the credit for this but this is all Ashley!” I look to Ashley and he’s giving me an excited smile.

“Ashley, thank you for doing all this!”

“No need to thank me doll, it was my pleasure!” He shoos it off like it’s nothing and I can already feel myself bonding with him. He pulls me into a door on the other side of the room, and it’s a walk-in closet, it is huge next, he pulls me back out and into the door next to the closet and it’s a bathroom,

a huge bathroom, there is a shower that looks big enough to fit at least 5 people and an oval-shaped bath in the middle of the room, big enough for more than 4 people. On the far wall is a massive sink with a huge mirror above it and a storage unit underneath. I already know this bathroom will become one of my favourite places to be.

“Shall we go and see Bella’s room?” Brooke gently asks me. I nod her way and we leave my bedroom and go inside hers. Her room is not much smaller than mine. There’s a large wooden crib in the centre of the room with an animal mobile hanging above.

A changing table is placed against the back wall, fully stocked and there’s a storage unit next to it full of more supplies. Across the room in a corner is a large selection of toys and a net hanging above them full of teddies. The floor has a lovely dark green carpet with a white fluffy rug under the crip and there’s a large sofa on the back wall.

The walls have been painted green and all different kinds of animals have been painted along the bottom of the walls, I don’t know how they managed to get this done so quickly but it is beautiful!

Next to the toys is a door and inside is a small bathroom, there is a small bathtub in the centre and a mini shower to the side with an animal shower curtain hanging loosely. There’s a small sink and a storage unit underneath, already filled with all the bathroom supplies Bella needs and lastly, a small closest is next to the bathroom stocked with everything she could ever need or want.

“As soon as you feel up to it, we will go shopping and get you everything you need ok sweetheart? but until then you’re welcome to anything of mine that you need!” Brooke gently talks to me as she leads me back over to the cot.

“Ok thank you, Brooke.”

“Great, shall we put Bella down for a nap, and then we can go sit down and chat?”

“Can we stay in here to talk? I don’t want to leave Bella alone.”

“Of course, sweetheart!” She graces me with her usual beautiful smile as we walk over and I put Bella in her new crib to nap. We spend some time talking about this pack and what the people are like.

Ashley tells me more about his and Jack’s relationship and Brooke tells me loads about Alpha Calvin and their relationship and I honestly couldn’t be any happier for her, it sounds like she has made an incredible life here and an even more incredible relationship with Calvin.

We continue talking when there’s a knock at the door and in walks Alpha Calvin and the guy, I saw when I first arrived.

“Hi Beth, how are you feeling?” He asks me as he makes his way over to us.

“I’m ok Alpha Calvin, thank you.”

“Please Beth, just Calvin is fine, I know you’ve met my Gamma Jack but I also wanted to introduce you to my Beta Liam.” Oh, so that’s who he is. He steps towards me and gently shakes my hand as he inhales sharply.

Why is he doing that? Do I smell bad or something? He steps back quickly but at the same time he graces me with the most beautiful smile I have ever seen on a man’s face before, great now I’m developing a crush on a fully-grown man, he’s got to be at least 18, maybe 19.

“Hello Beth, I’ve heard a lot about you, it’s lovely to finally meet you. I just wish it was under better circumstances!”

“Hi Beta Liam, it’s lovely to meet you too.” I give him the best genuine smile that I can muster but I know it’s not very convincing.

“Hey, Beth why don’t you go and get a shower and freshen up and then we can go and have dinner?” Brooke pulls me out of my lost thoughts, thank goddess for that girl.

“I’ll wait for Bella to wake up first if that’s ok? I don’t want to leave her alone.”

“How about Calvin and I stay here with her until she wakes up or until your back? Would that help?” She’s already so caring and I know she’s going to do an incredible job of looking after me and Bella.

“That would be great, thank you, guys!” I walk over to the crib, checking in on Bella before I leave and make my way to my new bedroom.

Future Luna Brooke

The minute Beth leaves the room, I turn to face Calvin.

“What’s going on Cal? Something has been going on with you and Liam since you come in here!” He quickly tries to cover the fact that he’s hiding something from me but he knows I’ve already noticed.

“I…am…well I don’t really know how to tell you this!” He looks worried and it’s really not helping me. He’s about to say something when there’s a knock on the door and Jack walks in.

“Hey, Liam you wanted to see me?” He’s full of smiles as always but I’m still a nervous wreck.

“Yes Jack, I have something to tell Luna Brooke and you should hear this too, but what I’m about to tell you all has to stay between us, at least for now anyway!” Everyone agrees to Liam’s request before he says any more.

“Ok so…Brooke, hmm… look when Beth arrived today, I… I found out that she is my mate!” Holy f**k! I don’t know what I was expecting him to tell me but it certainly wasn’t this.

“Huh.. How? I don’t understand!”

“Yeah, that’s exactly how I’ve been feeling! Cal took me to talk to his parents and they have helped me make some sense of it and I don’t expect you to be happy about this but please let me explain? Please let’s talk about this?”

He’s practically begging me and no matter how I am feeling right now, I know underneath that Liam is a great person, one of the best men I know and he at least deserves to have me hear him out. I give him a smile and nod letting him know I want him to carry on, both he and Cal sit on the floor across from me while Jack comes next to me lifting up Ashley and placing him on his lap.

He quickly dives into the conversation, telling me what happened from when he saw Beth and his conversation with Calvin’s parents to his reaction to shaking her hand when he came in here. I listen to everything I have and take in every last word.

“Ok, so you’re my sister’s mate?” He nods towards me with a gentle smile.

“Are you going to reject her?” I’ve got to ask.

“NO!” he shouts out before apologizing.

“Ok you still want her as your mate, so you’re willing to wait until she’s 18 without telling her anything?”

“I am. Don’t get me wrong I know this is going to be tough, tougher than I could ever imagine but if this is what I have to do then I will, she’s my mate, and I’m not just going to give up on her.

I’m not sure what the next 3 years are going to look like but Calvin’s parents have offered to help me through it, and I know it’s against our law to tell a minor they are your mate but honestly, I don’t think I would tell her even if I was allowed.

Every one of us in this room knows the feeling of finding our mate and I want her to experience all of it.

“You do realize that Bella will always be a big part of Bethany’s life, don’t you? They have always been close but these past few days have changed everything and Bethany now has a bond with Bella that I don’t think any of us will ever have with her!” He needs to be prepared.

“I haven’t really had a chance to see it yet but from what I’ve heard I can understand what you’re saying and either way it doesn’t matter to me, Bella is a part of this family now and that means she’s my family too and however this plays out, well… we will figure it out as we need to!” I can see the honesty in his answer from the way he looks at me and I know everything will be fine.

“Liam, not that you need it but you have my blessing on this. I know you will be an incredible mate to Beth when the time comes and I will help in any way I can!” he thanks me with the most genuine smile I have ever seen on anyone’s face just as Bella wakes from her nap and we all put our attention on to her.
