Chapter 55

Alpha Calvin

“ALPHA, ALPHA, WE NEED YOU!” I get woken up by screaming in my head, it takes me a few seconds to realise that Kyle one of Sarah’s guards is bellowing through mind link and I’m instantly on high alert.

“Whoa whoa kyle, what’s going on?” The clock on my bedside table catches my eye, 4.27 am f**k this can’t be good!

“Sarah’s bleeding Alpha it’s bad!” Huh?

“Where is she bleeding too? What’s happened?” She has attempted to hurt herself several times over the past 4 months but never serious enough for the guys to wake me up, they usually have her treated and inform me later on or the following morning if she did it in the night, the fact that kyle is panicking and waking me in the middle of the night instantly has me on edge.

“Alpha it’s coming from…hmm.. down there, I think there’s something wrong with the baby!” Oh, f**k! She’s due any day now and we’ve worked hard to keep her alive and that baby healthy and I’m not about to let anything happen to it.

We don’t know what s*x it is yet as it always has its legs crossed when we’ve done scans but it’s healthy and that’s all that matters. I let kyle know I’ll be right there before throwing on some clothes quickly and quietly so as not to wake Brooke up.

“Liam are you awake?”

“What’s wrong Cal?” He links me straight back, I know the poor fucker hasn’t slept much since Bethany went to France but she’s coming back today so hopefully, that will help him.

“Sarah is bleeding, it sounds like there could be something wrong with the baby!” He lets me know he’s on his way before I link Jack to come to my floor.

Less than 5 minutes later, Liam, Jack and Ashley are all walking through my door, these men don’t mess around no matter the time day or night, I know I can always rely on them.

“Liam you’re with me, Jack and Ashley can you stay here please? I don’t have time to wait around for a warrior but I won’t leave Brooke on her own either, Bella’s in her nursery!” Brooke’s got 3 weeks left until she is due to have our son and I’m not risking anything.

“Of course, Cal you go, we’ve got it!” I know they have I wouldn’t have asked them otherwise, they will protect Brooke, Bella and my son with their lives that I don’t doubt. I still can’t believe I’m having a son and in less than 1 month he should be here, it’s a crazy feeling!

10 minutes later Liam and I enter the cells and pain-filled screaming instantly reaches our ears, we quickly make it to the end cell where Sarah is being kept to find her laying on her bed and the sheets and floor covered in b***d.

There are 3 warriors in here plus our doc and a nurse, the doc looks at me and before he even says anything I know things ain’t good, there’s no way it can be good with this much b***d.

“Doc, talk to me!” I move to his side not to disturb him too much as he’s examining Sarah’s stomach.

“Placental abruption Alpha, the placenta has come away from the inner walls, it’s serious, it can deprive the baby of oxygen and even though it does cause heavy bleeding it shouldn’t cause this much!”

“f**k! ok, what do you need doc?” This is much more serious than I thought.

“We need to deliver this baby as soon as possible but Sarah has refused!”

“What the f**k? Why are you refusing?” Liam spits the words at her, his anger showing exactly how he feels right now and I’m right there with him.

“As soon as it’s born, you’re going to kill me!” As usual, this is all about saving her own a*s, she doesn’t give a f**k about the pup.

“Are you f*****g serious? You die no matter what Sarah, dragging this out and risking this pup’s life isn’t going to change that!” She shrugs, she actually shrugs without a care in the world and that’s the last straw for me,

“Doc, you have my permission to get the pup out now, do whatever you need to!” He doesn’t hesitate to start giving the nurse a list of stuff he needs and she quickly leaves the room, Sarah starts screaming and thrashing around trying to get off the bed.

“Warren and Ryan, you two hold her arms down, Liam and I will take her legs, Colton you be ready to assist the doc if needed!” They nod before quickly moving into place.

“YOU CAN’T DO THIS; THIS IS MY CHOICE NOT YOURS!” She bellows out.

“Can you kindly shut the f**k up, nails on a chalkboard sound more pleasant than your voice, you’re giving me a f*****g headache!” Liam says it so casually that I burst out laughing causing him to smirk along with all the men, I look to doc and can see he’s biting his l*p holding in his own laugh. Soon enough the nurse returns with everything they need and gets everything placed out ready.

“s**t!” Doc suddenly hisses out.

“What’s wrong doc?”

“The bleeding is getting worse Alpha; I fear Sarah may not survive this!”

“Save the baby doc, she’s going to die either way!” He quickly agrees and starts to prepare her stomach, doc is a great wolf and person but has made it clear more than once that he wouldn’t have treated Sarah over the last 4 months if it wasn’t for the pup, he feels the same as everyone else about what she has done but how could he not? We get into our positions and hold Sarah down then doc starts his work as Sarah screams out…

2 hours later I’m standing in the hospital room while baby girl lays in her cot, the cord was wrapped around her neck when she was born but thankfully doc quickly removed it. She’s been checked over and she’s perfectly healthy, she is beautiful and it’s strange but she doesn’t look like either Sarah or Marcus, she’s already got bright blonde hair and pricing blue eyes although I’ve learned both of these can change in the first year.

Doc wants to keep her in here for the next 24 hours as he’s treating her for a small case of jaundice. She’s a small baby weighing 5lbs 9oz and she’s a dod at 16 inches long and just such a cute bundle.

I’ve thought about what will happen to her over the last 4 months, I knew my decision straight away there was no doubt about it but still, I made sure to check every option available to her, made sure whatever I decided was for her best interest and no one else’s and while I stare down at her I know I’ve made the right decision; I don’t regret it now and I know I won’t in the future either. Doc keeping her here for the next 24 hours is ideal, it gives me the time to get everything in place ready for her new family.

I leave her soon after with a warrior guarding her while I head to my office and call Alpha John, he has been doing amazing things at his pack, he has turned everything around and is one incredible leader.

He even moved the pack to a new packhouse and lands only 2 hours away from my pack to give them all a fresh start and I think it was the best decision he could have made. The old pack held to many horrors of the past, I have been to visit his pack once since he moved there two months ago and I must say he’s making incredible progress there plus during my visit, we signed an alliance agreement and I have no regrets.

He is quick at answering as always and once I’ve explained my plan, he’s happy to travel to my pack later today and witness the plan, after a quick catch up I end the call and head out to finish the arrangements sneaking in a peek at baby girl on my way.

Beta Liam

These past 10 days have been a nightmare for me, being without Bethany has been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through! When Cal and I found out the reason for her not going I knew we’d sort it, I covered all of her expenses plus I had Brooke take her shopping before she left to make sure she had everything she needed.

And Cal give Toby a bonus for all his hard work during the whole Marcus, Sarah situation. It was more than was needed to cover her expenses and to go shopping beforehand, Cal never mentioned France to Toby, he left it up to him because even if he didn’t use it for Katie. he still deserved it all for his hard work, of course, Toby being the good man he is paid for France the next day.

Don’t get me wrong I’m happy she went, it’s a great experience for her and after all the s**t she’s been through she deserves it but f**k I’ve missed her, Jonah has been an absolute nightmare which isn’t helping my mood swings and to top it off I can’t sleep!

Honestly, I’m a f*****g mess without that girl close by! 4 more hours and she’ll be home and it can’t come quick enough!

Sarah give birth to a baby girl early this morning, her attitude towards the baby really didn’t help my mood either, unfortunately for her, she died a few hours after giving birth, she lost too much b***d and the f*****g ironic thing about it is she delayed the doc delivering the baby to prolong her life but if she had let the doc do his job sooner she properly would have survived but I’m not even going to try and pretend to care because I didn’t feel a dam thing, baby girl is my only concern right now but Cal has assured me he has a plan but he hasn’t told me what it is yet.

Finally, my girl has arrived back home, I’m standing by the packhouse door with Toby, Jack, Ash, Brooke and Cal waiting as the car she and Katie are in is making its way down the long drive. my heart is pounding, Jonah is prancing around in my head like a puppy about to get a juicy bone and I’m as excited as a kid in a candy shop, if anyone knew how excited I was for this moment they would properly be embarrassed for me but I couldn’t give a flying f**k!

The car pulls up and out comes my girl, she looks tired but still, the wind gets knocked out of me from her beauty, it takes me back to the day that she first arrived here expect this time the feeling is so much better, there’s no worry or feeling of disgust in myself there’s just happiness and gratefulness that she got back here safe and she’s back where I can see her! Katie runs straight to Toby who is waiting at the bottom of the steps while I wait patiently by the door but I’m hating every moment, I just want to wrap her up in my arms and never let her go anywhere ever again!

“Toby you can take the rest of the day off, enjoy some time with your daughter and family!” Cal shouts over to a beaming Toby, he happily agrees before he and Katie say their goodbyes and head to their house.

Bethany heads our way and Brooke quickly hugs her the best she can with her bump sticking out. Jack and Ashley get in a quick hug before they head to the car and get Beth’s bags, Calvin hugs her next and I’m quickly growing impatient.

Finally, she looks at me with a beaming smile spread across her face and I know she’ll find the same look on mine, we seem to lock eyes for a few seconds before she runs over to me and wraps her arms around my stomach, I’m quick to return the hug and instantly feel my body relax it’s like my whole body has been in one giant knot since she left but just one hug from her and it all unravels and I can breathe again.

She’s not going anywhere for this long without me ever again! Nope, it’s not happening! Never again!
