His Luna’s Already A Luna -
Chapter 50
Lucinda POV
Listening to Nick, talking about his father and the way he treated his women, multiple Luna's created and rejected. Was a very big eye opener. His father had treated his Mates, all 5 of them, terribly. Had chosen women to be his Mates and then just cheated on them all, eventually rejected each of them after getting an heir. All bar Nick's mother, it seemed.
His Goddess-Gifted Mate and yet he'd only been loyal to her for a time as well, not respected her, not loved her, it seemed. Stayed with her the longest but still treated her like all the others, betrayed their bond and then, hideously Marked and Mated another, without caring what it would do to his fated Mate.
He appeared to have no soul at all. Nick had called his father a bastard. Lucinda could think of a worse word for the man. Many, actually. But she would not use them.
To hear that Nick and his little sister Mary, had sat and watched their own mother die, to see her pain, watch her suffer in agony. Right in front of them, was so very sad. His father was a brutal and cruel man indeed. Killed his own fated mate and didn't even seem to care about it at all, or the effects it would have on his own children.
Lucinda had thought it was really nice, to hear that Nick and his sister were very close. She had yet to meet the woman, but Nick had told her earlier in the week that she would be back soon. Maybe they will get along. Lucinda hoped so.
To hear that he had half a dozen siblings out there, 4 of them probably still in the pack somewhere she imagined. Made her curious as to why it was just Nick and her, plus Mary and her Mate, who lived on the Alpha floor. She would have to ask him why at a later date. Taking in his pack's history. His family history, was a lot to absorb. His past, it seemed, was horrible.
They were sitting together on the lounge, getting along properly for the very first time. Perhaps granny was right. His teasing she had pushed aside, seemed like he couldn't help himself. The minute his tale was told, he was back to teasing her. He even liked it when she was trying to ignore him. Hearing that, explained some of his morning behaviour, she guessed.
When he kissed her temple softly she shoved him away. If he liked her ignoring him, she would continue to do so, till she was certain of him and their bond.
Nick was actively trying to encourage her to discuss her office with him, took great delight, it seemed, in letting her know, that his office was going to be right next to hers, that there was an adjoining door. He even told her she would be needing the Goddess's help to keep his hands off of her once they were Marked and Mated. Lucinda would not be going into his office any time soon, she still felt that she was unwelcome there. He might want to Mark and Mate her, but he didn't trust her any more than she did him, in reality. That was why he had the pack maps covered.
When he ran his finger up her leg slowly, Lucinda knew what he was doing, he was touching her on purpose. The electric tingles trailing up her leg after his finger were hot on the skin, she brushed his hand away before it became so intimate that her body would react to it, and she felt aroused by him. She didn't need him smelling that. Was not ready to go there with him.
Some of her fears that had crept in today after hearing those women talk, had receded a bit, but she was still a little bit concerned about him and his family's history, for all she knew, it could already be ingrained into him. It might be unavoidable even if he said otherwise.
Considering how he'd been brought up and what he'd learned, a Luna was to him. She still felt that she needed to wait and see, watch. Lucinda didn't know him well and she wasn't a hundred percent ready to trust the man, even though he did seem attracted to her. That could just be the bond, drawing him to her. She had no idea if he'd been in love with anyone else before meeting her, had a current girlfriend, who was just out there waiting to see what he was going to do, and with his family history. Perhaps that was what Valerie was, his girlfriend or had been, and that was why she was so territorial about him.
Lucinda didn't even know if Nick had found her attractive or pretty even. Before he'd scented her out as his Mate.
His long fingers had slid along the scar on her inner thigh, bringing her out of her own thoughts. He asked her how she had gotten it. Lucinda's eyes had widened in complete shock at the touch of his fingers to that scar. No-one had ever touched it, in all these years. Not even the twins. Never.
Yet here he was doing just that. It sent blots of electric tingles along the scar, seemed more sensitive to his touch than her normal skin. His hand slid away a moment later, up and over her thigh, and rested back on his own leg.
"That's a long story." she practically whispered. Lucinda was not ready to talk about that with him. Not even after he had shared his story with her. She had more than herself to protect. Couldn't just go about telling anyone her past.
His offer to stay up all night because he didn't work Saturday, reminded her that tomorrow was indeed Saturday. If he had nothing to do all day, Goddess was that going to mean he was going to spend the entire day with her. Lucinda could well imagine the torment he would be doing, teasing her all day, trying to seduce her in all likelihood.
He did seem to understand that she wasn't ready to talk about it with him, let it go, but did tell her he was curious. That he thought it had to have been before Ky'ra and of course it was. Nearly everything in her life was actually before she'd gotten Ky'ra, only having her wolf for 4 and a half months and all.
"When I was 18." she offered up, but that was all she was willing to say on the subject.
Lucinda didn't want to tell him. Kind of stumbled over it a bit, feeling a tiny bit guilty seeing as he had told her so much about himself. But hers was not just about her, she had to be very careful about who knew. If Alpha Corey hadn't seen fit to tell Nick. That meant he, too, didn't know if he could trust the man, with her real identity or where she'd actually come from.
Lucinda was not about to divulge who she actually was, or that there were survivors to the White Lotus Pack. He would surely know the story, everyone it seemed did. Other packs thought she and her women and children had all died, and now haunted the old pack territory.
Nick thankfully changed the subject and relieved her of her anxiousness about the topic.
They started to look at the flooring for her Luna's office. Lucinda didn't know what to choose, so she asked him what he liked. Nick pretty much told her he wasn't going to help her, it was all up to her. That she wouldn't like his taste.
Lucinda had seen his office, and his bedroom, this very room. Nick was right. It was all very masculine and not to her liking. Her office, she guessed, would be much lighter than his, probably sticking to creams with soft colour accents. She didn't really know. Lindy's office was purple and white with red accents.
Felecia's office had been white and pink with hints of yellow just like the Lotus's that grew in the territory. Lucinda didn't know how to do this, she'd never decorated anything in her life, her mother had chosen her bedroom setting in their family home. The house she lived in at Half Moon Pack, had already been built and furnished. She'd not changed anything. Hadn't cared to in the least.
She'd never shopped for anything other than clothing and weapons. She had no idea what to buy or even what she would want in an office. But guessed it should at least resemble his style in some way. Who knew?
Nick brought up how pretty Ky'ra was and how impressive, kind of sounded proud that his wolfs mate was beautiful. It made Ky'ra purr at him, and in return his wolf purred back and very loudly at that. Lucinda was also proud of Ky'ra. Felt Ky'ra's happiness right that minute at his comments about her.
Offered for their wolves to go for a run together, Lucinda declined, using the same phrase from dinner. Nick didn't seem offended, just smiled at her. Ky'ra wanted to, and was still purring away at her mate like crazy almost. Nick chuckled softly "I guess they like each other."
"Only met a few times, little weirdo's" Lucinda couldn't help but chuckle, at their constant purring at each other. Right that minute, it was almost as though it was a contest, as to who could be the loudest. Nick clearly found her comment amusing, he burst out laughing.
Then suddenly she was picked up and put right on his lap. He slipped both his arms around her waist. "Lets, let the two weirdo's be happy, get to know each other a little. Rip will behave himself, I promise you."
Lucinda stared up at him shocked, wide-eyed at the fact he'd just pulled her onto his lap. Ky'ra was pawing at her. Inside her mind 'yes' she purred even louder and then pawed even more at her, Lucinda was going to go deaf at this rate.
How could she ignore her wolf? Refusing her would hurt her. 'no marking or mating, no bloody kissing or touching either.' she warned her wolf.
'I'll be good. Ky'ra agreed.
Lucinda looked up at Nick, he was smiling right at her. Knew she'd been talking with Ky'ra, she nodded "Rules... No kissing or touching either."
Nick smirked at her, like he knew she was going to give in. "Now that I also agree with. Rips not touching your body before I get to."
Lucinda rolled her eyes at his comment, trust him to think along those lines.
She allowed Ky'ra to push forward and shift her to the back of her own mind. She got to see his wolf through Ky'ra's eyes. It surprised her more than a little, that Rip, once in full control of Nick's body, leaned down and touched his head to hers.
Lucinda had seen many wolves do that. Mated pairs often touched heads together, rubbed their body's along each other and rested on the ground, with the male wolf usually using his female as a pillow, for his own head. It was a sign of love and respect for each other. How they displayed their emotions for each other.
A minute later, Ky'ra burrowed into his neck and breathed him in. It appeared to Lucinda that the two of them just wanted to sit and snuggle with each other. All her rules and boundaries respected.
Sometime later she found her wolf touching his chest a little playfully, heard his wolf growl lightly at her in response, clearly like her touching him.
'Ky'ra. Lucinda warned her, when she felt her wolfs intentions change from calm to playfulness. Ky'ra buried her face into his chest and rubbed herself against it, then before Lucinda could stop her. Bit him right on his n****e, quite hard, then bolted up from his lap and ran a little away from him.
'Enough,' she yelled at Ky'ra, who was now being chased by his wolf around the lounge and living room, a massive toothy grin on his face. Ky'ra was laughing the whole time.
Lucinda had no control over her wolf. Ky'ra had pushed her even further away into her mind, she wanted to play with Rip, it seemed, and she wasn't about to let Lucinda interfere with her and her mates' game. When Ky'ra ran into the bedroom, Lucinda tried to force herself to the surface, using all she had yelling 'don't you mate him.' as Rip snagged her and tossed her onto the bed, launching himself right after her. He was on top of Ky'ra pressing her down into the mattress, he was growling softly, playfully at her and Ky'ra was laughing still obviously enjoying herself, wasn't even trying to get out from underneath him. "One bite is owed." Lucinda heard Rip tell Ky'ra.
Then he yanked her over onto her stomach and bit her right on the bottom, through their shorts. Then he crawled back up the bed, rolled her over and pulled her back to his chest with a deep chuckle and just lay there and cuddled her again. Like they had been doing on the lounge before.
Thank the Goddess, Lucinda thought. She really thought Ky'ra was going to mate him in human form. Not particularly a good idea, considering she and Nick hadn't even gotten close to that. Lucinda felt Ky'ra relax and then fall back, allowing Lucinda control of her body again. Ky'ra lay down in her mind, seemed calm and happy, settled down to sleep all curled up.
'Not, happy with you. Lucinda told her.
Ky'ra just snorted at her and yawned, didn't care what Lucinda thought at all it seemed.
Lucinda looked up to find herself looking right at Nick's wolf, Rip, who was still in full control, and looking right back at her "Mine." he stated with all his Alpha Wolf authority, claiming her and then he was gone, receded back and Nick was left looking at her. Nick chuckled softly, "Well now, I do believe that was all your wolf's fault, not mine.
"I know." Lucinda muttered and disentangled herself from his arms, to turn and look at her backside, "That is going to leave a mark." she huffed, seeing a few drops of blood and teeth marks in her shorts.
"I imagine so." Nick replied, he sounded amused to her still. Not bothered at all by either of their wolf's behaviour.
"Did you even try to stop him?" Lucinda frowned at him.
"No." Nick shook his head, still smiling.
Lucinda glared at him, "He could have mated her."
"He won't, he knows the rules. Besides that, it would have been her doing."
"That is not the point, Nick." she rolled over and away from him, annoyed that he didn't care. Lucinda moved to get away, only to find herself picked up by Nick. "What are you doing?" He had her around the waist with just one arm, apparently she weighed nothing to him.
"Getting us into our bed properly," he told her as he used his other hand to pull the sheets and duvet down. He dropped her down on to the bed and then himself next to her and pulled her back to him. Just like Rip had held on to Ky'ra, only her back was to his chest.
"Good night Lucinda." his voice still full of amusement as he spoke into her ear softly.
When she didn't say it back, he poked her a few times in the ribs.
"Good night," she finally replied to him, and he left her alone to go to sleep. His body pressed right up against hers. Bloody man had made himself as comfortable as his wolf had been with hers, and she knew there was no getting out of his grip.
