Lucinda POV.

"Good morning." Nick's deep voice greeted her first thing.

Lucinda woke to find herself once again lying half on top of him, bloody bond. They'd let their wolves spend time together and now it seemed she was back to attaching herself to him. The smile she could hear in his voice told her he was amused once again by her being on top of him.

She wondered if Nick ever slept in. He always seemed to be up and awake before she was, just lying there in bed waiting for her to wake up every morning. Lucinda realised that her face was on his bare chest, as was her hand. "Didn't you have clothes on?" she frowned, he'd yanked her down into the bed last night while still wearing clothes. She was sure of it.

"Yep." he teased. "Nothing now."

That snapped her head up. "What?" she was staring right at him, wide-eyed. Lucinda wasn't ready to be in bed with him, while he was completely naked.

Nick burst out laughing and she just knew he was not really naked, glared at him "Jerk." she muttered, he was making fun of her on purpose. He knew it would freak her out to have him naked in bed with her. Lucinda pushed herself up off his chest completely only to see the bite mark where Ky'ra had bitten him last night, there was still a bruise there. Odd.

"Why is that not healed?" she asked Nick, pointing to it.

"I don't know. That's Rips department. Maybe he likes it."

Lucinda felt Nick grab her and she was suddenly pulled across his lap, lying on her stomach, in fact across his lap,"What are you doing?" she gasped. Then her shorts were pulled down somewhat, exposing her bare bottom to him. Nick smacked her right on her bare bottom and pulled her shorts back up, let her go. "You got one too."

Lucinda scrambled off his lap, bloody jerk was now taking liberties, it seemed. He was sitting up against the headboard of the bed, leaning back all casual like and smiling at her.

"jerk. she muttered again.

"Had to see your damage for myself too." he chuckled softly. "I might just have to bite the other cheek." he snapped his teeth at her.

Lucinda's eyes widened, when he leaned forward towards her, he was really going to do it. She turned to get off the bed before he did, and found herself pinned down underneath him. His mouth was on her ear. "Now I know Rip enjoyed it. I'm sure I will too...Lay still now." he teased her playfully.

"Nick stop it." she gasped as she felt his mouth slide down her neck to her back, and then down her back. His impossibly long arms were holding her pinned at the elbows, she squirmed and tried to get away and out from his grip.

"Oh my dear. You might want to lay still or find you'll find something else waking up." his voice was deep and husky. His meaning was clear to her. She was turning him on.

Lucinda gasped at the realisation of what could happen if she kept moving under him, stopped wriggling and trying to get away.

"Pity." he murmured, his lips against the small of her back. "I'm happy to strip you naked and have my way with you." then he bit her right on the bottom, on the other cheek to his wolf. Though it felt more playful, and likely wouldn't leave a mark at all. "Stop it." she muttered.

"Why? It could be fun." he growled all huskily at her.

"In your dreams, Nick."

He laughed "Now, I've told you. Every night I dream about you underneath me." he teased her again and finally let her elbows go, lifted himself up off of her.

"What's wrong with you?" she shot at him.

Nick just laughed softly "Wrong with me? Nothing!...I just want to be with my Mate. Don't you want that, in anyway at all?"

Lucinda sat herself up, that was not a question she was ready to deal with, not really, but she did so anyway. She didn't think he was going to like the answer, though "Not at this point, no." she said quietly. She didn't either. Wasn't yet over what he'd done to her, had calmed down, but was not passed it at all.

He was frowning at her. "Why not?" he asked directly, all amusement gone.

"Why not?" she shot right back at him, a raised eyebrow, had he forgotten already. "After what you did to me, why would I?" and she got right out of the bed.

"You're still mad at me then?"

"I'm not passed it. If that's what you want to know."

Nick did not offer an apology and Lucinda knew that he was not going to either. Nick thought what he had done was fine, he had his Alpha reasons for it. Lucinda was of the complete opposite opinion, in fact. Lucinda dressed and headed for the kitchen to make herself some coffee.

Nick had been in the shower when she had come out of the walk-in, probably thought she was expecting him to apologise and with him not willing to, so he'd left the room to avoid talking about it.

Lucinda didn't believe she would ever get him to apologise for it. She wasn't even going to try either. What was the point? Even if he did, it probably would only be to placate her. She didn't think he would really mean it at all. He would have to deal with her not being over it. Till she was over it. If she could get passed it, that was.

Not even Lucinda knew the answer to that question. Ky'ra, it appeared, was fine now. Now that they could feel the twins again, she was good apparently. That was still odd to her. Might have to look into why it hadn't snapped completely. Surely the pack library would have books on that.

Might just have to spend the day in there, though the last time she'd been in there, she'd over heard things she didn't want to. Lucinda shook it off, Nick had told her of the pack's history, explained his pack's thoughts, she guessed, and why wouldn't they think that way about it when his father and brothers had been that way.

Lucinda pushed that thought away, not going to let it interfere with her plans. It wasn't likely going to happen again. There wasn't much else she could do with herself anyway, not with all the restrictions Nick had placed on her.

Sipping her cup of coffee, she spied granny's cane next to the fridge where she had left it yesterday and smiled at the thought of Nick in that ridiculously tiny chair. Pulled out her phone and made it her home screen. It was good to be humbled and humiliated sometimes. Even Alpha's needed to be put in their place at times too.

She picked up the cane and put it in the middle of the dining room table. She had no idea if he came in here often, but the next time he did, she smiled to herself, he wouldn't be able to miss it.

Took herself out to the balcony to have her morning coffee. She did like it out there, pushed the French doors open and sank herself down in a pod chair to look out over the pack, there was hardly any one about at this hour, the sun was barely just above the horizon.

It was likely that most of the pack was sleeping in, or being with their family. Saturday was the day that her, women and children spent together. They would all have a big barbeque breakfast and then go out to the river for swimming or some shopping, depending on the weather. None of her women had yet to be given second chance mates and the children, two of them would turn 18 later this year, but the others were all only 12 to 14, so they didn't have their wolves yet, still some years away.

Hopefully, the Goddess would grant them some happiness at some point, not leave them alone and longing forever. Lucinda knew that second-chance mates were rare. But still she did pray for them, to the Goddess on a regular basis. To have them gifted another mate. They had been through so much, another chance at happiness. Was it really too much to ask for?

Why would the Goddess grant her one and not them? Most of them had been mated for years, lost not only their mate but their adult children too that day. She sighed 'please Goddess, grant them happiness!' she prayed for them 'each and everyone of them.' Her thoughts were interrupted by Nick, tapping her knee with Granny's Cane. She turned her eyes on it and then snatched it, quick as she could. "That's my walloping stick now," and couldn't help but giggle up at him. "Granny gave it to me, to beat you with." "Oh and you think you could?" he smirked back, leaning on the balcony.

"Yes," she nodded. "Might even be a bit sturdier than my Bow. How's your knee, by the way?"

"Funny!" he frowned at her.

"Hmm." she shrugged "You shouldn't drag me around. I don't like it." she informed him simply.

"Let's not discuss it. I don't want to fight with you today."

"Why not? Afraid you might loose this time." she smirked right up at him.

"No." he shook his head "What do you want to do today?"

"I'm going to the library, there's something I need to research."

Nick was staring at her now." Our library might not be as up to-date as the one in Half Moon Pack, it appears one of my ancestors burned quite a bit of it."

"Why?" she was frowning now.

"Who knows, it was before my time." he shrugged "I thought we could spend the day together."

"Doing what exactly?" Lucinda asked. She had no idea what he liked to do, or how he spent his free time.

"Hence my question, what would you like to do today?" he repeat himself.

Lucinda shrugged, "Just go and do whatever you would normally do." She had plans already.

Heard him sigh "Lucinda, I know your still upset. But we really should try and get along. We are Mates, Goddess-Gifted Mates."

"I'm aware of that." she nodded "I'm also aware, you never tried to claim me. Just sent Jeremy to watch me. You didn't want to come and claim me, Nicholas. So why now? Why bother with this mating alliance?"

She had been curious about this question, for a while now and seeing as they were talking, she might as well get herself some answers.

Not even Lucinda knew the answer to that question. Ky'ra, it appeared, was fine now. Now that they could feel the twins again, she was good apparently. That was still odd to her. Might have to look into why it hadn't snapped completely. Surely the pack library would have books on that.

He stood there and stared at her for a long minute "That's a hard question to answer," he finally offered up.

"No it's not," she shot back. She didn't think it was, not unless he actually hadn't wanted her and didn't want her to know this.

Watched him sigh, rub a hand over his face "Alright, I'll try...I wasn't exactly raised properly, you are aware of that now right, from our conversation last night."

Lucinda nodded her head, yes.

"Well, I believed that as long as I knew. It didn't matter if you did."

"Are you insane? How or why would any she-wolf go with a man who claimed to be their mate, if she didn't know it herself?"

"Hmm, I know this now. I did check the luna phase and knew I had till 10am to have you presented to me."

"Wait what? Presented to you? Is that what you did? Have me presented to you like some toy to play with."

"Well, actually, I had no idea you were my Mate. I...we scented Ky'ra and, of course, had no idea who you actually were."

"Happy about Ky'ra as your Mate, I bet." Lucinda muttered.

"Yes, Rip was very happy. I'd seen you, and was happy about it too. Just so you know. Very easy on the eyes you are." watched as his eyes looked over her right now "I like all of you." he commented.

Lucinda rolled her eyes, hated it when people said she was easy on the eyes to look at, felt like a doll on display to be honest.

"I did tell Alpha Corey, I had found my Mate and asked him to have you brought to me. Probably... in hindsight, I should have gone and claimed you myself."

"Bet he thought it was funny." she ignored the obvious, what wolf didn't go and claim what was theirs.

"Yes, the whole Alpha Unit burst into the room minutes later trying to place bets on your reaction to me, in fact."

Lucinda laughed, her annoyance gone in an instant. Typical of Alpha Corey "What was the bet?"

"Does it matter?"

"No, but I bet it was a good pot."

Nick frowned down at her. "You don't mind them betting on your reaction to your Mate? At all!"

"Didn't affect me... Looks like you were annoyed by it though."

"More than annoyed." he admitted.

"Who won it?" she asked. He was there. He should know.

"What?...I don't know." he frowned again.

Hmm, something she would have to ask Alpha Corey later. He and Lindy liked to lay in on a Saturday morning.

"You realise your old pack, are all betting on us still."

"Yep, I know." she nodded, he didn't sound too pleased about it. "I'll let them know if or when I let you."

"If or when?" he was staring at her now, right at her in fact.

"It's my choice," she nodded, "to be totally honest with you. I'm not sold on the idea. After what you did."

"Look I know."

Lucinda cut him off. "Stop, I don't care why you did it. You shouldn't have. As far as I am concerned, it's a cruel thing to do. Showed me just how cruel you can be, even towards your Mate." she got up and walked away from him and his completely stunned expression at her response.

But what did he think was going to happen? Now at least he knew what she really felt about it. What he did with that information was up to him.

She found herself in the kitchen with him a moment later. "Lucinda, I don't think I am a cruel person. I have actually saved this pack from the torturous rule of my family. Brought it, to a peaceful way of life and made sure everyone feels safe. This is a good pack to live in now. I did that."

He was trying to defend himself, but his actions spoke for themselves. "It's good you could do that for them." she acknowledged.

"Then, why am I a cruel person?"

Lucinda stared at him and used her fingers to make a point by ticking off her list. "1 dragged me around and bruised me. 2 you don't want me to see the pack map or is surrounds, which confines me here like some sort of prisoner. 3 you confiscate my Bow and lock it away from me. 4 you forcibly bled me in to this pack. Clearly against my will. It would have been very obvious to you I didn't want that. So why would I think otherwise at all?"

Nick was frowning deeply now, guess he'd not realised she was keeping a tally of all his miss deeds. Where she was concerned, "Do you want me to go on, there are two more I could list?"

"No." he stated flatly, and turned and walked out of the kitchen. She heard the suite's door chime as he left and it locked behind him.

Guess he'd thought he'd done nothing wrong at all.

Lucinda headed off to the pack library, to research why she could still feel her bond with the twins, after she had already felt it snap, had passed out from the pain of it breaking, she was very confused by this and needed to get some answers. He stood there and stared at her for a long minute "That's a hard question to answer," he finally offered up.
