His Luna’s Already A Luna -
Chapter 96
Lucinda POV
It smelled like cleaning chemicals and disinfectant and it was very bright, there was an occasional beep every minute or so. The room she was in felt cold and sterile to her. She knew it was not where she had laid down to let go of everything, it wasn't pitch black and cold, not did it feel like her home either.
Ky'ra was not with her, only a shadow in the very distant recess of her mind, and when Lucinda reached out to her, she did not get a reply. Felt as though she was so very far away that she was now unreachable.
It appeared that once again she had managed to survive. 'Why?' she wondered, as she lay staring up at the white ceiling above her. A ceiling of what she could only think was a pack hospital. How she had gotten here? She did not know. When she had gotten here? She did not know. Who brought her here? She did not know.
Lucinda, however, did know. She was not alone in this room. Two others were in here with her. Didn't care to sense out who they were. Didn't care to turn and look at this point, to see who they were either. Knew when one of them left the room, didn't care much at all about it. Not really. Who's pack it was? Who knew? Not hers. It was not home, not her pack. That much she did know. For there was nothing left of her pack. Nothing like this. Just that tunnel where she had laid down to give up.
Perhaps she had dreamed it all. Perhaps this was her packs hospital, and she had sustained a head injury and had hallucinated all the horrors she recalled in her life. All the pain and suffering. That had to be it. But if that was so, why did she feel so alone? And why could she feel Ky'ra way at the back of her mind buried deep in the shadowy recess of her consciousness?
Turned her eyes to her left, to look at the man standing by the wall over there, 'Kevin.' popped into her mind. Not a dream. Not a hallucination either. 'why would he even be here?' she wondered to herself as she felt her heart start to pound inside her chest, pain pooling inside of her. Her breathing quickened and in less than a minute was hyperventilating as she stared at him. It could all only mean one thing. This was his pack.
Saw him take slow steps towards her, as she lay there staring at him, not wanting to be here.
"Lucinda honey...Calm down." she could feel a wave of calming aura wash over her "Everything is going to be okay." his voice sounded different to her. Like he'd gained a southern drawl. It didn't sound like Kevin. But it was Kevin.
"Go away." she gasped out, struggling to produce any words. How could she be here? Why would he even have sent for her? Come for her? Why would he want to take her back to his pack?
"Shh, it's all okay." he told her "Just calm down... Listen to me Lucinda." he said, touching her hand now.
She shook her head. "No... I don't want to." her breathing had slowed and she could draw normal breath.
"Yes you do..." his hand touched her forehead, stroked her hair gently, and there were more waves of calm falling over her.
"No...go away." she closed her eyes, didn't want to look at those eyes of his.
"Lucinda honey...Listen to me, it is not what you think... Trust me honey."
She could feel tears pricking behind her closed eyes "Yes it is." she whispered, pain etched in every word. As she felt it, touch her heart. She didn't want to remember it. Wanted to forget everything. Had nearly been able to. Would likely have been able to let it all go, if she had been allowed to stay there in her pack. Alone like she was meant to be. Alone in the darkness with no one. A place to let it all go, give up and never have to think about it ever again.
She could feel his breath on her ear and his drawl so softly spoken to her "Lucinda honey... Listen to me...you know you want to...He would never hurt you like that."
So much of his aura was being pushed over her, she felt that her heart rate had slowed and her breathing too.
"That's it...Just relax, everything is going to be just fine."
"Where am I?" Lucinda asked. He might have managed to calm her beating heart and ease her breathing so she could breathe properly, but her mind had not switched off.
"Your in Half Moon Pack Lucinda...You took on Darwin and nearly died...Silly girl."
"I killed him." she whispered.
"Yes you did... Now open your eyes and look at me..." he beckoned her with that drawl and she was unable to fight him, or his Gamma Charm.
Her eyes opened and she looked right up at him. He was only a few inches away. "That's right, focus on me...only me...nothing else."
She couldn't look away, but fear was pulling at the edges of her mind again! Why did she only need to focus on him and nothing else? Was he going to suddenly appear before her? She didn't want that. "I don't want to see him." she burst out, a hand shot out and she was clutching at him, her heart rate increasing again.
"Shh now..." he pushed more of his calming aura over her "You don't have to right this minute... He knows you're hurting...It is not what you think Lucinda."
"It is." she whispered, as tears spilled from her eyes.
"Lucinda honey...No it is not... Listen to me." he was holding her hand, his thumb rubbing circles on the back of it. "Trust me it is not...I can prove it to you." "I felt it." she shook her head.
"I know you felt pain...you and Ky'ra both... Lucinda honey... Listen to me...he was drugged and did not hurt you on purpose."
She didn't want to believe him, "Frost legacy." she whispered to him, looked right in his eyes "They all."
"No Lucinda...Nick is not like them...Honey please listen to me...You know you want to...I know you're hurting right now...but it is all going to be okay...I promise you."
Lucinda lay there staring up at him, didn't want to listen to him, but couldn't seem to help it. Felt compelled to, he was in control of her and she couldn't seem to fight him anymore. He was using all his Gamma Charm on her. To make her compliant and it was working. She did want to believe it was all going to be okay. Did want to believe in his promise.
She couldn't seem to take her eyes off of his, drawn to him as he wanted her to be. He was supposed to be her Gamma, the one person in the pack who could make her calm down and do as he said in times of severe stress. He was very good at it, she thought absently.
"Don't leave me." she begged him suddenly. She didn't want to be alone anymore. Didn't want to have it all come back to her and have to try and deal with it all again, on her own. She was clutching at him now, both hands.
"I'm right here...I won't leave you." he promised her.
"I can't...I don't want..." she half sobbed, "to feel it anymore. Make it go away." she pleaded with him. Knowing he could make it all go away. "Shh...it's alright." he replied softly and helped her to sit up.
Lucinda leaned right on him, felt calm just being in his presence, his hand was rubbing her back slowly and she just closed her eyes and allowed him to calm her down, use his Gamma Charm to settle her and wash over her till she didn't think about anything at all again.
She had no idea how long she sat there, just leaning on him, with Kevin keeping her calm, didn't really care. Heard the door to her room open at some point and turned her face away from it and into his chest. Not ready to see who it was. "Honey?" It was Gabby's voice.
Lucinda turned her face to look at her friend, let go of Kevin and reached out for her. Felt Gabby wrap her arms around her and hold her tightly in an embrace. Lucinda hugged her back and then sobbed into her. Though she doubted it was for long. "You look like hell." Gabby told her a while later.
"Darwin is dead...Their safe now Gabby. All of them...You'll never have to worry about the twins again."
"Oh, honey. I never did. Not with you around." she smiled at her and pulled away from her a little bit to look at her "They want to see you, you know. Among others. You have got yourself a whole pack outside waiting for you." "Why?" Lucinda asked, frowning at her.
"Honey, you've been in this hospital bed for 5 days now. Unconscious the whole time."
Lucinda's eyes widened "What?..." she watched as Gabby nodded her head. "How did I get here?"
"Nick brought you here. Poor man is devastated honey."
Lucinda turned away from her, didn't want to hear the mans name 'That I'm still alive." she stated.
"That is enough of that, now...I know what happened and."
"I don't want to hear it." Lucinda cut her off, yelling at Gabby now. Trying to make her stop talking, why was everyone always on his side? Why was it no-one ever believed her? Where he was concerned. "Fine." Gabby sighed heavily "You'll just have to see it for yourself then."
"I don't have to do anything. Anymore." she shot back, glaring at her friend, he had broken the rules of their Mating Alliance. She no longer had to do anything where he was concerned anymore.
Gabby raised an eyebrow at her. "Perhaps you need to be alone right now. I'll bring the twins when you have calmed down." she said, then she stepped away from Lucinda.
"Gabby?" Lucinda didn't want to be alone.
"Are you going to continue to yell at me?"
Lucinda shook her head. "No...please just don't go."
Gabby looked at her for a solid minute, then just nodded her head and pulled up a chair to sit with her.
It was several minutes before Lucinda spoke, she needed to think about anything else, guess now was as good a time as any to bring it up. "The twins?"
"Upset about your condition, but okay."
"No...um..." she didn't know how to approach this topic, didn't even know what to say or what she wanted for that matter.
"Oh that." Gabby sighed "Alpha Corey has talked to James and I." she nodded slowly.
"Why'd you never bleed them into your line?" Lucinda asked. Was curious as to why they had not done that. Surely it would have been the thing to do to claim them completely. It also would have stopped this whole mess. "James and I, we never actually thought we would have the twins for more than a few days. Thought that you would come back for them." she shrugged, "but you never did."
"I didn't know...I didn't understand what had happened... I didn't know they were mine." she admitted sadly. It was the truth she'd had no idea Felecia had bled them to her that day. Knew nothing about bleeding a child into someone else's line. Gabby nodded. She had probably guessed as much "I love them Lucinda, as much as you do. So does James."
"I know that." Lucinda acknowledged, nodding her head. "As long as I'm here. It's fine. I love how happy they are with you."
"And when you're no longer here?" Gabby asked, looked pained to be asked that question.
"Why would I be anywhere else now?" she couldn't see a reason as to why she would be leaving Half Moon Pack again.
Gabby sighed at her and rubbed both her temples, but said nothing for a long time." You should get some rest. I'll have James come and sit with you. Give Kevin a rest. I think you took quite a toll on him and I know your pack is wearing him down too." "Why?" she asked, a bit confused.
"Because honey, he's your Gamma, and he can feel your emotions as much as you do. It's how he is able to find a way to calm you down, and your pack! They were all very distressed at your state when you came in. He's been getting all of them the whole time he's been here as well."
"Oh, okay." she had no idea how his goddess-gifted Gamma Charm worked. That was the first time someone had explained it to her.
The man had to feel her emotions so he knew how she was feeling, to be able to help her calm down, how he could do that? She had no idea, didn't think it was a blessing of a gift, more like a curse, she thought. Having to access and feel the emotions of others to help them relax and calm down couldn't be all that fun for the man.
