Chapter 12

It's been a month since I began working at the infirmary and I've managed not to get caught. Lily has been transferred full time to the infirmary so I get to see her a lot. Kyros on the other hand has been extremely sweet and nice to me. But he didn't make me feel the way

Thane did. He didn't make my heart flutter or beat wildly. I didn't feel sparks whenever we touched.

He took be to a clearing today with a small stream. We sat with our feet in the water throwing stones.

"Have you ever thought of having a mate?" I nodded.

"A couple of times. But I wouldn't be able to feel the bond until I'm bitten." I laughed bitterly. "I'm not sure my mate would even want me."

"Don't say that. You are a wonderful person." I smiled at him.

"What about you."

"I've never met my mate. I decided to take a choice mate if I reached my fifth century and still do not find her." He held my hands.

"You are a wonderful person with a beautiful soul." I blushed. "Would you do me the honour of being my mate?"me? He leaned in slowly and I sat still in shock. He placed his lips upon mine but I didn't feel the sparks I felt with Thane. He moved his lips against mine as he held my nape. I pushed him away and stood up.

"I'm sorry. I-I-I'm...." I turned and ran. He called after me but I didn't stop. I ran until I bumped into a hard chest and arms wrapped around my waist. I looked up and saw green orbs staring back at me. He growled loudly as his eyes switched from green to black. His claws dug into my waist and I winced.

"My king" someone called loudly. His eyes were unfocused and he looked like he was struggling to control his beast. I tried to move out of his arms but he held on tightly. He growled loudly into the air.

"No!! Don't..." Pain erupted at the side of my neck. I held onto the head and screamed. The jaw tightened and canines dug deeper. An intense feeling passed through me as the jaw relaxed. Arms lifted me so I straddled his waist. My head was placed in the crook of his neck. I moaned at the feeling of something hard pressing against my stomach.

The pain at my neck turned into pleasure as wet tongue licked the mark. My centre ached badly as I humped his stomach. I ground against the hard ridges of his abdomen as an intense climax washed through me. I screamed loudly as I reached my peak and slumped into him. My body felt like liquid fire. The tongue continued to lick my neck as I purred. I felt boneless. I barely registered the movement of the body carrying me as I drifted off.

"What the fuck were you thinking marking her" an enraged voice screamed.

"I can do whatever the fuck I want to pup"

"You took her choice away you fucking bastard." were they fighting? I opened my eyes to see Thane holding Jairus at the collar of his shirt.

"I'm your king. You'll do well to remember that." He flung him across the room. I scratched the mark. Thane turned sharply to look at me. I felt self conscious as he strode to me shirtless. I had this urge to run my hand down his chest. Juices gushed at my centre at the thought. He growled lowly and I leaked more.

"Stop that" stop what? He sat down on the bed but made no move to touch me. I reached out for him but he moved back. I felt my heart sink. I had this overwhelming urge to be close to him, to touch him.

Jairus carefully sat on the other side and smiled at me. I felt a bond with him. Not of a lover, something different. While Jairus smiled, Thane scowled. My emotions were conflicted. I felt emotions I was unsure were my own. I looked at him in confusion. But he moved away from the bed and out of the room.

"What is happening?"

"You were marked." Marked? By Thane? He nodded.

"Why will he mark me?"

"You are his mate" mate? I thought he had a mate?

"He did. She died. The moon goddess blessed him with another. You."

"I thought that was impossible"

"It is. Nobody understands it. He wasn't supposed to mark you now"

"Why did he?"

"You came in smelling of another male. His Lycan lost it. We are extremely possessive of our mates. You walking about without a mark was testing his control. It snapped when he smelled another male on you." "What happens now?"

He smiled. "You complete the bond and start having babies." I blushed. I wasn't sure I was ready for that yet.

"I feel a bond towards you?"

"The mark triggered it. It's that of a mother and son. I've felt it since I met you"

"Will you call me mother?" He chuckled loudly.

"If you want me to"

"Don't. It's weird. You are way older than me. I'll feel odd if you call me that" he laughed

"I won't. Mother" I slapped his arm lightly.

"Stop teasing me. Is it normal for me to want to be around him all the time and touch him?" "It's the bond. It'll pass after a while." I nodded.

"Do you want anything to eat." I shook my head. I didn't feel like eating. I wanted Thane.

"Okay then. I'll come check on you tomorrow." He kissed my forehead and left. I lay on my bed and stared into thin air. My body ached for something. Thane. I tossed in my bed for a while but sleep failed me. I stood up from the bed and left my room.

I was dressed in a white button down which stopped mid thigh. I trailed the familiar path to Thane's room and turned the door knob. He sat in bed shirtless, the covers fell down to his waist. I wondered if he had anything underneath.

I clenched my thighs at the thought. I walked steadily as he trained his eyes on me. I crawled into the bed as he sat still.

"You shouldn't have come here."
