Chapter 14

over. I scratched my mark nervously.

I snuggled deeper into my hard pillow. Wait. It wasn't a pillow. It was a chest. I opened my eyes to see Thane looking at me. A unreadable expression on his handsome face. I was laying atop him, a hard bulge pressing against my stomach. I blushed and quickly rolled He removed my hands. "Stop that" I noticed I scratched the mark whenever I didn't know what to do about my emotions. The door opened and Jairus came in grinning widely. He sniffed around and paused.

"Fucking hell. Did you guys have sex?" He scrunched his face. I blushed and looked away while Thane growled.

"That's fucking disgusting. You are like my parents."

"Nobody asked you to come in here without knocking." Thane answered him.

"You are supposed to lock the fucking door" he looked at me. "If you have completed the bond does that mean you can mind link him now?"

"We didn't complete the bond" he looked at his father in confusion before understanding graced his face.

"TMI father"

"What exactly are you here for?"

"The ball is being held in one week."

"Shit. I fucking forgot about it" he stood up from the bed.

"Inform Valdus and Noir that we have a meeting in an hour. They are to converge at the conference room with the cabinet members. Inform the matron so the slaves can start preparation. And give me some fucking privacy." Jairus bowed at his father and gave me I stood up from the bed and headed to the door.

"Where are you going?"

"I was giving you privacy. Plus I want to go downstairs and help with the preparation."

"You are not a slave anymore." he walked to me. He led me into the bathroom and we showered together. He gave me another of his shirts.

"Nala will lend you a dress. You'll go dress shopping with her." he kissed my forehead and went out.

A few moments after he left, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in" I called out.

She twisted the knob and came inside. She smiled at me. "I wasn't sure what dress to bring so I brought jeans and tee." I collected them.

"Thank you" I went to the bathroom to change. The tee was a big especially in the chest area. Nala had a larger chest than I did. The jeans fit my hips but the waist was to large. I stepped out of the bathroom unsurely.

"You look good." I followed her out of the room. A car was waiting outside. We drove to a small boutique. A petite woman showed us around the store and Nala helped me pick out a few things.

We ate at a small restaurant and headed home. I thanked Nala and went upstairs. After I dropped the bags, I went in search of Thane. My body ached to be around him. I scratched my mark as I ran to his study. I knocked on the door and turned the knob. Four set of eyes were on me. I gripped the door tightly.

"Come here" I ran to his desk and straddled his lap. He rubbed my back as I snuggled into his chest. The meeting continued but I zoned out the voices. My nerves calmed down and I slept off.

I woke up in Thane's room the next morning. His side of the bed was cold. I did my morning routine and went to the infirmary. I was a bit nervous to see Kyros. I fought the urge to scratch my mark. I knocked on his door.

"Come in" he looked haggard. Overgrown beards on his face and bags under his eyes. He looked at me and stood up.

"You weren't here yesterday"

"I had a situation"

"Those kids are attached to you and you know it. Yet you decide not to show up" "I....."

"Just because you are the king's whore doesn't mean you can do whatever you want" I slapped him hard and ran out of the room viciously scratching my neck. Tears stung my eye. Was that how people saw me? As a whore? I ran to the clearing where Kyros had kissed

me.

I fell on the ground and sobbed. The leaves rustled as someone entered the clearing. I wiped my tears.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean it"

"It's fine. You don't have to apologize" he groaned.

"I was just upset. I wanted you and the king got you. I know you are his mate"

"I'm sorry for the slap"

"I deserved it. Am I forgiven?" I nodded. He came to hug me but I moved back.

"Thane got angry the last time he smelled you on me." he nodded sadly.

"I have to go now." he nodded. We left the clearing together while avoiding body contact.

Thane and members of his cabinet were still in a meeting. I lay in bed reading a book until late in the day. I was assigned a slave to assist me, but I swapped her with Althea. She was currently laying on the bed blubbering about something but I couldn't hear her. All I thought of was Thane.

"Can you hear me?" she waved her hands in my face. I shrugged.

She rolled her eyes. "I can't wait for my own fairytale ending." I smiled. Was this really a fairytale ending?

"You'll meet someone"

"I better." She tried a few dresses and spoke with an accent in front of the mirror. She fooled about for a while and decided to go back to rest. I wondered how Lily was. I hadn't seen her in two days. I made a mental note to see her tomorrow as I drifted off.

I was jerked up roughly from the bed. I looked into black orbs. Claws dug into my upper arm that had started to bleed. Tears blurred my vision from the pain. What was going on? Thane seemed to be struggling for control. His claws tightened on my arms as his soulless orbs held mine.

"What the fuck were you doing in Catalina's room?"
