Chapter 41

"I want it out" want what out? I rubbed my eyes and sat up in bed. Kyros and Thane looked at me as they stopped talking.

"Want what out? What happened to me?" Kyros looked from me to Thane and to me again. Thane stormed out of the room slamming the door.

Kyros cleared his throat and moved closer to me but still kept a safe distance.

"You're pregnant"

"I am? How did that happen? My heat passed"

"Not really. The first day is the most intense but the heat doesn't end on the first day"

Ohhh. That was it? Thane seemed mad. "Is that why Thane is upset? He does want the baby?"

"The baby is a Lycan just like his father and you're human"

"But the mark.."

"The mark cannot change you completely. And even if it could it's still recent. Your body is not ready for a Lycan baby yet. It'll take a couple of years or decades before you're ready" "What does that mean? What will happen to me and the baby"

"The baby will drain you. For the next five months you'll be sickly and weak. Chances of surviving the child birth is also low"

I was devastated. This was my first child and it could kill me? I looked at Kyros through blurry vision. "I have to..." I couldn't bring myself to say it.

He looked at me with understanding and nodded. "You have to terminate the baby"

"No. No I can't do that" I was hysteric clothing his arms and digging my nails into his skin.

"Luna" I didn't notice the door opened or someone had walked in until I was pulled into his arms. I buried my face into his chest as I sobbed and cursed the goddess.

I pulled back and looked at his face. It was stoic and void of emotions. "Ask him to do something. I can't loose the child"

"It's for the best. You can always have another later"

"No.. another won't be this child. I'm not killing my child" I turned to Kyros but his face held no hope.

I pulled away from Thane and moved away from him. "I'm keeping this child no matter what"

"It could fucking kill you"

"Then let it kill me" for the first time since he entered his stoic face changed. I saw a flash of hurt on his face before rage took over.

"You don't care if you die because of one babe when you can have a thousand others?"

"I don't care"

"Then so be it. Die if you want to" he was out of the door before I could utter a word. Kyros opened his mouth to say more but I held up my hands and stopped him.

"Please leave. I want to be alone" I turned away from him and covered myself before the door closed. I tried so hard not to cry and struggled to sleep.

The next few days were filled with tension. Thane didn't want to be anywhere around me and I couldn't care less because I was stuffing myself with food because of my little one.

Often times I unconsciously held my stomach and wept. Lily was now free to see me anytime and I mostly spent the days with her.

Two months had gone by in a blur.

Things didn't get better between I and Thane.barely saw him anymorez could perceive his scent in our room each morning I woke up but didn't see him. At dinner, most times he would eat in his study and a few times he'll come to the table but he wouldn't stay long.

Lily kept comforting me and assisting me, And Noir still remained my guard still had blackouts because of the babe and whenever I woke up, Thane's lingering scent would be there. Jairus had been away for two months.

Carlyn still pranced about with her irritating face and most important of all, my bump had started showing. I got stares each time I went out but I ignored them.

I groaned and stood up from my window seat. I opened the door and saw a maid standing at the door with a glass of iced fruit drink.

"Luna. The king wants you to have this" I smiled widely.

"Really?" She nodded while smiling brightly. I thanked her and she went on her way. I held the glass as I made my way down the staircase and out of the castle.

As usual Noir came out from wherever he was and walked behind me. I made my way to the garden and sat on the bench uncovering the drink and putting it to my lips when it was suddenly knocked out of my hands. "Noir. What did you do that for?"

"It's poisoned"

"Poisoned? Can't be. The king sent it to me"

"The king? Did he give it to you himself?"

"No... But he sent a maid"

"Do you know her name?" he was in full alert mode. His eyes rolled into the back of his head and I assumed he was mind linking.

"No.... I've never seen her around"

"And you took a drink from her?"

"How was I supposed to know. She said the king....." Did Thane really want me dead? He wanted the baby dead and killing me would kill the baby.

"She lied. The king has not been here for the last three days. Guards ran into the garden.

"Put the castle on lockdown. I want every single person in the building in the great hall NOW. The guards ran off and alarms started blaring in the castle Noir's eyes rolled into the back of his head for a moment and walked me inside.

Valdus and Nala met us in the hallway with a confused look.

"What happened?"

"Someone tried to poison the queen"

"Fuck. Do you know who?" I shook my head.

"Come on" Nala took my hands and led us into the great hall. People were already there and others were still being brought in. I looked around trying to find the face of the maid that brought the drink. Kyros and a few others including Lily and Althea were led in through another door. Nala helped me sit on a chair while she sat beside me holding my hands.

Noir joined us a few moments later with Valdus.

"I've let the King know. He'll be here soon"
