His Unwanted Wife Again
Chapter Eleven

Over seven months later.......

Nathan's driver opens his limo door for him to exit. He just arrives back at his luxury condo. He had been out of the country for two months.

He takes his private elevator up to his floor and as soon as he opens the door his mother is waiting for him.

She was sitting by the dining table with her arms folded. She had been trying to contact him for a couple of weeks but Nathan was deliberately putting off calling her back. Every time he spoke to her, it was like she was trying to cheer him up, and he didn't need a reminder of the sadness within him.

"I had the chef make lamb chops just the way you like it." She stands cheerfully.

"In a minute, I need a shower." She walks away.

Once he finished he found his mother sitting in the same spot she was in when he left. He sat across from her while his butler serves him his food. He sticks a fork in his potatoes and chews quickly, wanting to just go to bed.

"Do you know who the father is?" Vivian

Asks curiously.

He kept chewing, grabbing his knife and slicing a piece of lamb. "What are you talking about?" He shoves it in his mouth.

Vivian's eyes open wide. "I know it's hard for you to talk about but it will help you to accept it."

Nathan furrows his eyebrows and forks another slice of lamb in his mouth. "Accept what?" His tone was impatient.

"It's everywhere, son. All of the tabloid magazines, and entertainment news."

"What is?" He had stopped eating and was holding his knife and fork extra tight.

"Sabrina is pregnant." Vivian walks over to the counter where her phone was charging. She pulls up a website and hands it to Nathan.

His heart almost stopped. "Billionaire Nathan Alden soon to be ex-wife pregnant!" There was a picture of her getting out of a silver vehicle clearly ignorant to the camera. The article goes on to call her a slut without saying the word. It implies her moving on quickly and even the possibility of more than one person being the father.

"I'm surprised you didn't know," Vivian whispers.

Nathan shifts his eyes to his mothers but doesn't say a word. He was in shock. Sabrina did it. She got someone to give her the baby she was dying for. It shouldn't have fazed him, but it did. He shouldn't have been surprised that she moved on so quickly but he was.

He shakes his head slightly and blinks his eyes a couple of times like he was shaking off a headache. "I have work to do." He stands up suddenly.

"But you've just arrived home." Vivian pleads at his back and he rushed out of the room.

He didn't turn back. He heads straight into his home office and literally begins working. This is what he did. He didn't think, he worked. He had a lot of people's jobs depended on him. He motivates himself.

The next morning he continues to work while he waits for his next appointment.

"Your 9:00 is here. "Anthony voices over the intercom.

He hits the green button. "Send them in."

As he finished typing an email he could hear someone entering his office. He clicks off his iPad and looks up at his ex-sister-in-law Gracie, waking into his office.

"Hi, Nathan." She smiles gently and sits in one of the chairs across his desk.

Nathan didn't have the slightest clue she was coming to see him. He really didn't want to deal with anything concerning Sabrina. He just needed to work. "I hope you didn't fly out here to see me, because you've wasted your time." "I didn't." She keeps her smile in place.

He leans back in his chair and laces his fingers together. "How can I help you, Gracie?"

She too leans back, and laces her fingers together over a black purse she placed in her lap. "Sabrina needs your help."

He squints his eyes. "What could she possibly need my help with?" She was the last person he was going to help. "Look." Gracie leans forward. "You and I both know that you slept with her about 7 months ago."

He cuts her off. "Are you implying that I am the father of her child?" His nostrils flare.

"You are the father." She states surely.

"Ha!" He laughs. "This is incredible."

Gracie begins to look at Nathan confusingly. "This isn't a joke. Sabrina is afraid that if someone finds out you are the father, they will try to hurt her, and the baby. When it blew up in the media she locked herself away. That's why I came here. She needs protection, and my niece or nephew needs their father."

"What kind of game do you think you're playing?"

"This is not a game. She's afraid. She's barely left the house since her pregnancy was announced in the tabloids."

"Why am I only hearing about this now? If I Am the father, then why didn't she tell me before?"

"Honestly, I don't know exactly why she doesn't want to tell you. I think she's afraid"

"She didn't send you here?" He stands and sticks his hands in his pocket.

"No." She bows her head.

Disappointment hit his heart. "Maybe it's because she doesn't want you to know who the father really is. You probably won't like the truth."

"No," Gracie states firmly. "She wouldn't lie about something like that.

"Sabrina and I are over so you should leave."

"What about the baby growing in her stomach? Don't you care about that?"

Nathan laughs again. "I'm not the father of her child."

She stands realizing that they were done speaking. "Sabrina was right, I shouldn't have come here."

Nathan doesn't respond to her. He watched as she reached the door and turned around. "If you knew my sister then you'd know that none of the things in the tabloids are true."

"You're right, I don't know your sister, and you probably don't either."

"You're wrong. I know my sister. She may not have been in the best place when she was photographed with your cousin, but even in that place, she would have never done what she is being accused of. She came home to get better. You should believe her above anyone else."

Once she closes the door Nathan releases his jaw. He didn't care what she said. Gracie would always cover for her sister. She didn't see the smudged lipstick on her face he caught her with while she was with Judd. Her sister left his side. She couldn't really expect him to believe that the baby she was pregnant with is his. He used a condom. Whatever she was trying to pull it isn't going to work.

The next day

Sabrina sat in her new apartment near her small kitchen table, eating cookies-and-cream ice cream. It was her drug of choice since she became pregnant. "Hmm." She hummed and she inserts a spoon in her mouth.

She didn't want to move away from her mother. After all, this is the time she would need her the most, but because of the paparazzi, she had to. Everything changed when she found out she was pregnant. She was flabbergasted and ecstatic. After so long thinking that she would never have a child she was pregnant. She bought five different tests just to confirm.

All of her plans changed. When she was five months along she quit her job and rented this apartment to hide away, but it only took one visit to her mothers for them to get a good picture of her stomach.

The front door swings open, and in comes Gracie with a scowl.

"How was your flight?" Sabrina noticed Gracie's mood seem to be down.

Gracie kept her head down, looking at the table like it had the words she was supposed to be speaking to her sister written on it.

"Gracie?" Sabrina swallows a bite and drops her spoon.

"You went there, didn't you?"

"I had too." She admits.

"Gracie, I told you not to go there." She asked her sister to fly over to Brentwood to meet a realtor and put the mansion up for sale. She was going to open up a bank account for her child and put most of the money she got from it there. "You were right ok. "Gracie finally looks Sabrina in the eyes. "He doesn't believe that the baby is even his. I should have never gone there."

Sabrina didn't expect the hurt she felt. She knew he was not going to take it well when he found out she was pregnant with his child again, but she didn't realize that he might deny it. Suddenly, she lost her zeal for ice cream.

She had dreamt up many ways she was going finally tell Nathan she was pregnant. She hadn't yet done it because she was afraid. What if someone wants to hurt the baby again? What if Nathan's father had someone waiting on the outside to have her killed? What if Vivian tried something? She did hate her again. She won't even find out the sex of her baby. She was too afraid to even dream of the future with her child, or what he or she would look like. She had no names picked out, and had purchased nothing.

Gracie and Mariel had been lecturing her on how important it is for a father to be in a child's life. She was too paranoid to tell Nathan. Once it was published in the tabloids she hid away and her sister especially kept pressuring her to finally tell Nathan. She truthfully was hoping Nathan found out of her pregnancy that he would come to her. She didn't want to call his lawyer and have the messaged delivered like that.

She pushes the carton of ice cream away. "What did he say?" She really didn't want to know the answer.

"He thinks we're pulling some kind of stunt so you can get him back. Exactly how pathetic doe he think you are?"

"I told you not to go there... " her voice turns stern. "I wanted to do this on my time Gracie Not yours..."She gets up from the table and begins pacing.

"Do you think the outcome would have been any different?"

Sabrina was at lost for words. She looks down at her stomach. She wasn't going to stress her self out about this. She takes a deep breath and then looks back up at her sister. "You're right." She lets out another slow breath. "At least he knows now, whether he believes it or not. I did my job as a mother. He knows what happened between us. If he ever wants to verify if what you told him was the truth, then I'm more than willing to do that."

"He's crazy or something. It's like he thinks all women are like his mother and sister." Gracie shakes her head.

Wow, Sabrina never looked at it like that. She was so right. The only woman figure Nathan knew was his mother, and he didn't trust her as far as he could throw her. His sister betrayed him, and his father ran a car into his grandson and Nathan could have sworn his mother was involved.

No wonder it was so easy for him to believe the worst in her. He had the worst around him. "I think you might right about that."

"He's an idiot to you think of you like that."

She puts her hands on her hips and bites her lips. "No. He's not. I acted childishly, I, became obsessed, I was stubborn, I left his side, and I didn't call. I gave him reasons to think of me this way."

"But Sabrina, he barely gave you a chance to defend yourself."

"I know, and because of that, I can't dwell on this anymore." She waddles her way back to her seat.

"What's our next step?"

She smiles gently. "Your next step is to go back to school and concentrate on that. My next step is to have a healthy baby." She was done worrying about this. If it was just going to be her and the baby braving the big bad world by themselves then they would be happy doing it.
