I'm Not Yours, Alpha
I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 17

Dominic clenched his fists as he stared at his mobile phone on the coffee table in front of the couch in his huge living room. The clock was ticking close to 2:00 in the morning and he still hadn’t received the call or the message he had been waiting for.

He had only taken off his jacket and tie, but he still felt suffocated. His hopes that Aidan would get through to him were fading. He blamed himself for getting his hopes up so high and being so stubborn in the process. He had become so attached to this omega that without realising it, he wanted him by his side at all times. It could be due to the bond of destined couples, but he knew of one or two cases where this was not the case, and the two people lived together only because the bond made them reject each other, not because they loved each other.

But Aidan’s strong, determined personality, the way she responded to him, the smell of her body and how she made him feel, had him captivated. He didn’t care if he wasn’t of the same status as him and that his family objected to them being together, he didn’t depend on his parents’ money and he knew that eventually, after a few arguments, they would give in.

Giving up, he got up, holding back his annoyance, it was getting late and he had to start packing. Even though the meeting was in three days, he had decided to leave early. Leo had taken it upon himself to warn her that the reservations for those dates were sold out and she would have to look for accommodation personally as soon as possible. Even with all the technological developments, one could not relax.

He didn’t even walk two steps when the mobile phone rang and he covered the distance in less than a second and answered.

-The omega’s trembling voice on the other end of the line told him that he was not in his best emotional condition and he worried about his physical one as well.

He stifled a grunt.

-Where are you?

She took longer than he wanted to answer.

-In the county park behind the mall,” she heard him sob.

-Don’t move from there, I’m coming to get you,” and she hung up, already clutching her car keys.

Aidan looked at the screen of his phone and didn’t know if he had made a mistake. He didn’t have that much trust with anyone he considered a friend, his life had been mainly focused on work. He also didn’t feel much like looking for a place to stay, and he couldn’t ignore the fact that he didn’t want to be alone right now.

Perhaps it had been on impulse, but a welcoming calmness enveloped his chest. Maybe he hadn’t made a mistake and had done the right thing by letting himself be led by that instinct that was becoming more and more awakened.

A car pulled up in front of him minutes later and before he could pull himself up, he was against the male chest and surrounded by Dominic’s arms. He felt the alpha envelop him with his scent, but it didn’t feel good, instead of being pheromones to soothe him, they seemed to exude the alpha’s rage and helplessness.

-Dominic,” he could barely speak as he shuddered against his chest, “Your pheromones, control them,” he asked in a whisper.

The urge to vomit was present and swirling in the back of his throat. The alpha seemed to notice as he slowed them down to almost imperceptible.

-I’m sorry love, I’m a little indignant about what must have happened to you, I didn’t think it would affect you,” he kissed her temple as he ran his fingers along her back feeling the tension disappear and leaned back against him, “You were right to call me, let’s go home, I’ll take care of you,” he released him slowly and wiped the trail of tears from her eyes directing him to the passenger seat, then put away his belongings. Doing so filled him with satisfaction, although it was strange to see Aidan so submissive.

They didn’t speak for the entire trip. The youngest didn’t seem too keen to engage in conversation. He just stared out the window and a tear or two escaped, tears that he wiped away every time they stopped at a traffic light.

Dominic turned off the car as they pulled into the underground car park of his building.

-I’ll help you carry your things upstairs and leave them in the guest room,” he said as he helped him down.

He nodded his head but still wouldn’t look at him. Dominic hugged him again, trying not to let her scent affect him again. He wrapped his hands around the small of his back as he spoke to him.

-Family can be a complicated thing, don’t think about it too much, it’s counterproductive,” he said.

She felt him swallow hard.

-I won’t betray you,” the alpha kissed his forehead, “You have my word,” it felt unexpectedly perfect to hold him in her arms.

He received no response and sighed. She led him to her flat and into the room he knew and laid his things on the bed.

-You can take a bath, use whatever you want, I’ll get you some new towels. Do you want something to eat?

Aidan sat on the bed and craned his neck as if in pain.

-Thanks, I’ll just take a shower and sleep for a while, I don’t think I’ve done that for a whole week,” the exhaustion that was overtaking him didn’t even allow him to feel nervous about where he was.

Dominic sat down next to him and took his hand.

-I’ll leave you something ready in case you get hungry in the evening, if you want something else take it from the fridge, I have some attractive things in there,” he smiled at him to try to relax him, “I’ll be in my room if you want anything. Don’t worry, you said it yourself, we’ll take it slow.

Dominic’s words seemed laden with sincerity.

-Thank you.” For the first time all night Aidan smiled at him.

-That’s much better,” the alpha kissed his hand, his palm, and released him before it was too late to stop.

He had to admit he was putting the noose around his neck, having his omega only a few feet away and not being able to overtake him, or just devour him. That and the frustration of days of not letting off steam in s*x was taking its toll, but Aidan was very unpredictable and it was best to tread carefully.

He got up and walked out, leaving him alone.

The boy looked around, analysing where he really was. He had promised not to touch him, although with recent events he didn’t think that was so real. He rubbed his forehead. His head hurt again. He decided he would take a bath and then sleep. Tomorrow was another day, and with a cool head he would consider his next steps.

A loud noise woke him with minutes to go before the alarm woke him up. He sat up with a start and let out a high-pitched squeal of surprise as he pulled the sheet over himself. A shriek like that of a frightened omega calling his alpha, though it was unconscious and he didn’t know it, but the alpha who lived with him did.

-Good morning, precious,” the voice coming from someone other than Dominic was heard from the doorway with too much overbearance, “Move your pretty a*s, you, your mate and I have a lot to talk about.
