I'm Not Yours, Alpha -
I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 30
Despite having slept for a few hours, Dominic had not rested at all. How could he when his omega was in that situation and his company hadn’t slowed down, reaching a key point in the project. His head wanted to collapse, but for some reason it didn’t ache like the days before. Something was moving over him, deliciously massaging him.
He opened his eyes slowly to meet a pair of familiar orbs and sat up so quickly that he wobbled in his chair.
-Aidan,” he spoke her name in exaltation, but when he went to touch her hand to take it, to squeeze it, to k**s it, he stopped himself.
He sketched a faint smile, now that his omega had woken up he was calmer, so he could leave now, being by her side only hurt him.
-I’m glad you woke up,” his hair hid his expression, “Don’t worry, I just wanted to make sure you woke up, I’m leaving now,” with each word his chest tightened and his alpha growled for making that decision. He turned and took three steps before his voice stopped him.
-Are you going to be the one to run away this time? We’re old enough to keep this up,” Dominic turned back to Aidan who was settling into the back of the hospital bed as comfortably as the pillow on his back would allow.
-I’m not running away, I just don’t want to hurt you anymore, again.
-Then let’s talk first,” Aidan cocked his head to one side, the alpha looked extremely tired and close to collapse, and he could smell his desperation as well as his pain. He was in pain too.
Dominic resumed his place in the chair and clenched and interlocked his fingers, leaning forward with his head lowered.
-I made a mistake and I don’t know how to make it right. I hurt you, I branded you without your consent, I practically raped you and I couldn’t even take care of you enough so you wouldn’t end up like this,” each word was a stab in his chest, Aidan just listened.
-You weren’t the only one who made mistakes Dominic,” this time he raised his head slightly, even so, he couldn’t see his eyes, “I was overconfident and I was the one who insisted on going to that meeting. Everything would have been different if my decision had been different.
-Even so, I didn’t have the willpower to stop myself in my zeal, if only I had stopped at that moment….
-Sooner or later you would have marked me anyway,” he looked for the positive parts so as not to continue hurting the alpha, his omega part was crying to see him in that state and he knew that if he let him go, his condition would worsen in many ways.
-Aidan, if I stay by your side something like this will happen again, I don’t want that.
-You’re not being rational Dominic,” sighed Aidan, “I’m trying to fix things between us and you’re only making it more difficult for me,” that surprised him, “You said it yourself, we’re destined couples, you’ve already marked me, we live together relatively, don’t you think that if we separated now you’d only make us suffer…both of us…and for pleasure?
The alpha didn’t answer him. For the first time in his life he was hesitating before a decision.
-What do you want Aidan? If you want to leave, I’ll agree, if you want me to break our bond, I’ll agree to that too.
The omega snorted and put his hand to his face, squeezing his septum. He grabbed the other pillow from his bed and threw it at him in frustration and shouted.
-I’m telling you that we have to find a way to fix our relationship, not a way to break it,” he gasped when he finished speaking, “You can be such a hard head, first you wanted me all to yourself, you did everything you could to have me by your side and now that I’m accepting you, you turn a blind eye. Listen to what I’m saying-
-Aidan, I…
-Yes, it’s true that we went through complicated moments, that you threw yourself on top of me, I don’t deny that I can still react strangely when you’re going to touch me, but that’s something we’ll have to work on…together, don’t think you were the only one who almost went crazy when we were apart,” he let his head fall back, “I’m omega, or an attempt, someone explained to me that the need to be together would get bigger and bigger, it’s not a nice feeling…”.
The alpha pursed his lips. If his father saw him now he would kick his a*s so many times he would lose it. He was much more serious in the relationship and direct, so why hadn’t he inherited that part of his character. His omega was asking them to stay together but he didn’t trust her control.
His fingers reached for her hands and they were cold.
-See, I don’t tremble when I touch you anymore,” he held all his emotions inside, the touch made the memories come back, though he had to be strong and overcome it or he would just be stuck in that part of his life. He knew it wasn’t easy to come to terms with it, it was really hard, but being positive in these moments was better than sitting in a corner crying without resolving anything.
-Dominic’s depression saw the light at the end of the tunnel even though he still wasn’t walking in that direction.
-Let’s start again, slowly, let’s get to know each other, let’s talk about us, let’s work on our relationship, after all you did mark me.
Dominic nodded slightly and before he could say anything else the door to the room opened.
-Finally,” Madox looked exalted, “All that grinding for that, look how impractical they are, just get back and have s*x, that settles it.
The couple was stunned by his triumphant entrance, he was a natural at it. Then Aidan remembered something very important.
-Madox,” the alpha turned his attention to him, “the omega who took care of me…”.
-Ah, my little bird? I sent her home yesterday to rest because she can’t miss work, she had an important activity, but here – he gave her a note with some numbers written on it – this is her number, call her whenever you want or need a friend. My little bird is very good, you won’t find a better friend than that one.
-You talk about him with great pride,” Aidan asked, giving him a thumbs up.
-My puppy is special,” the alpha smiled showing his wolfish fangs, a pity they hadn’t marked the omega.
Aidan wanted to continue digging into the subject but another person invaded the room. It was a beta, dressed as a nurse with a hard expression on her face.
-Please, I need you to leave, the visits are over for today, the patient will receive a review today to decide his discharge day,” she pointed to the door.
Dominic reluctantly got up from the chair but not before leaving a k**s on the back of his omega’s hand and receiving a smile from him. A weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
He followed Madox to the outside of the hospital where his car was parked.
-Come on, I’ll give you a lift, don’t bother Leo, he’s going crazy organizing your paperwork,” Madox indicated and the alpha nodded.
-Madox,” he called him once they started their journey, “Haven’t you thought of establishing a serious relationship?
-Why do you ask?” the alpha asked disinterestedly.
-The omega who was with you, they seemed very close.
-Leave Julian out of this. I told you a long time ago, I have no intention of having anyone to tie me down and the person who might be on my mind, I don’t deserve, so the subject dies here,” Madox seemed a little annoyed to bring up the subject.
Dominic didn’t press further so he turned to the window looking outside. He was still processing his conversation with his omega. Once home and with a cool head he would think better how to act in the future and how he could take care of her even more. His mobile phone vibrated and he pulled it out of his pocket and saw a message from Leo.
-Madox,” he called him in a deep voice, “Don’t go to my house, there’s something I have to do,” he raised the phone and showed him the address where they had to go. His right-hand man worked fast and always fulfilled the tasks assigned to him. It had only taken him half a day to find out who and how they had done that to his omega.
Dominic let the breeze coming through the window try to dampen the rage inside him, but the closer they got to the address Leo had texted them, the more it grew. He felt Madox park the car and looked at him doubtfully.
-Why are you stopping?
-You don’t want to make things right,” the alpha gave him one of those wolfish grins he made when something not so good crossed his mind, then pulled out his mobile phone and dialed a few numbers, “You, you’re too innocent to be alpha, you’re not evil enough. Leave it all to me, I’ll make you have the most wicked fun with the people who did that to your omega, besides I’m upset too, so let me enjoy myself-.
