I'm Not Yours, Alpha
I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 59

Madox was sitting on the beach. The sea breeze was gentle and cooling, enveloping everything with its typical salty smell. The sun could become to his liking, but he hardly paid attention to it. He didn’t care about the beautiful passage around him. He didn’t care about anything.

She had her head down looking at the sand between her legs. Her mind and her insides were in total chaos. She could barely repeat what had happened inside the room. It was assumed that by this time they would be back in bed having their last round of s*x to say goodbye to the hotel and celebrate that they could join as partners in one or the other’s next rut.

But no. He was there. Alone and heartbroken.

I had always thought that was just a children’s story. No one could break a person’s heart and he told himself that over and over again. But he never imagined that rejection by his little girl would hurt in such a monstrous way.

He thought Julian loved him. At least that was what he had seen in her eyes in the last few days that he had paid more attention to her. He had never cared about the feelings of others. That was how selfish he was. He’d let Dominic out of the bag, he was like his brother and their relationship was based on other principles. But since that night he had shared a whole rutting cycle with Julian his whole world had slowly changed.

He sighed, running his hand over his head, leaving it on the back of his neck.

-Life sucks.

After Dominic checked that his partner had put Julian to bed and was bandaging the wound on his wrist he headed for the beach. He stopped by the bar and bought something he knew his friend would need by any means necessary.

He looked for quite a while. Madox had been very “explicit” when he had mentioned he was at the beach. Perhaps he had an idea of how big that hotel was. Luckily for him he hadn’t strayed that far from the cabins. He didn’t like what he saw, though. There was a woman leaning against him trying to hug him and Madox wasn’t doing anything to get her off of him, rather, she was with her legs folded up to her chest and her back hunched over.

The situation seemed more serious than he imagined.

-Hey, honey, I can help you feel better and take that face off.

-He doesn’t need anything.” Dominic stopped very close to them. His gaze turned a deep green.

The Beta woman who was trying to coax Madox shivered and stood up trembling. Dominic didn’t have to do anything else for him to make her run away frightened. Standing next to the alpha he plopped down on the sand and pulled out what he had bought and placed it in front of her.

-Here, it will help you.

Madox raised his head slightly looking at the pack of cigars and the matchbox and grabbed it quickly lighting the first one.

-It tastes awful,” he exclaimed after the first puff.

-That’s the point,” Dominic grabbed one too and lit it. He didn’t like smoking, but he needed to support Madox, he could tell he needed it.

-Do you want to talk?” he asked with his eyes fixed on the sea. It was a miracle that the cigarette was not extinguished by the glare.

-No,” answered Madox, blowing the smoke out of his mouth.

-Are you sure,” Dominic pressed.

Madox clucked his tongue and extinguished the cigar that with two puffs he had already taken about half of it and lit another one hoping it wouldn’t taste so bad.

-Julian turned me down,” he blurted without lighting it.

Dominic closed his eyes. He knew that kind of pain. Aidan had done it how many times? A few, but he was patient because he knew the omega would end up in his arms, but with Madox it was different.

-Do you know the reason?

Madox ran his hand over his face. Somehow he was so frustrated he wanted to scream, to cry, but someone like him wouldn’t do that.

-Says he found his destined mate- he snorted- A jerk who left him in the past and now came back for him- his teeth clenched.

He felt his friend’s hand pat his back a few times.

-What are you going to do?

Madox guffawed, a pain-laden laugh he’d never experienced before.

-What the f**k do you think I’m going to do?” he almost shouted, “It’s his destined mate and he wants to go with him. Not even if I had marked it as it should be could I stop him. You know better than anyone the attraction between destined ones,” she buried her head in her hands, grunting and panting.

Dominic pressed his lips together. He knew all too well.

-I know it’s not easy to say, but maybe Julian has his reasons,” there was a lump in his throat.

-He could very well have written me off to be in pain,” he blurted out spitefully. Faced with all the new emotions I didn’t know who to attack- I deleted all the damn contacts of all the people I used to hang out with and you know why, because they barely turned me on when I had s*x with them. There were times I had to end up in the bathroom by my own means. And you know the reason why. JULIAN- she gasped after screaming again- That omega has completely f****d me up- she squeezed her partition- I don’t even recognize myself anymore-

-I think you’ve become a little more human,” Dominic told him without mincing words making the alpha look at him, “Before you were really selfish, overbearing, and just looking out for yourself but since you started meeting Julian you kind of smiled more. I like this version better. I’m sorry to tell you. I’m not going to lie to you.

This time Madox stared at him and then hid his face in one of his hands. A slight sob came from her throat. Dominic ran his hand along his back to comfort him.

Madox had always been on the cusp of everything. He was known for his strength both mentally and physically. But deep down Dominic knew that despite having accolades and money he had never really had anything about him that accepted him for who he was. In the end he was an alpha who’s insides were so fragile that he could break when he was ripped away from what he valued.

Several minutes passed between the two of them. The alpha’s pheromones diminished to the point of not being bothersome and Dominic knew that this one had calmed down. He could no longer hear him sobbing and was breathing more calmly.

-Madox, we should get back.

He shook his head, his hair covering his face.

-I’ll go later. The flight is still a while away and if I miss it I can take another.

Dominic snorted, knowing that what he would say would not be good.

-I know you’re not feeling well and the last thing you want to do is see Julian, but I need you to check on him,” he said.

Madox’s body tensed but he said nothing. Dominic continued through gritted teeth.

-After you left, he tried to kill himself,” he said.

Madox’s eyes widened and looked at him in shock after he raised his head so high that the bones in his spine rattled.

-Aidan and I arrived in time and the wound is not serious but it is not the wound that worries me but his mental state. He didn’t even hesitate to cut himself…-.

By the time he got to that part Madox was already up and walking in the direction of his suite.

Aidan wiped a cold cloth across Julian’s forehead. He was feverish again and had lost consciousness. He had dressed the wound, but not in the most professional way so the bandage was crimson again. He was extremely worried. He didn’t know what had put him in that state, with how weak he was as an omega it was somewhat worrying.

He heard the door suddenly open and Madox walked in followed by Dominic. Aidan stood up to make way for the alpha who sat on the edge of the bed and grabbed the omega’s injured wrist. He bit the edge of his l*p and brought his hand up to his face kissing over the bandage.

-I’m sorry puppy, I’m really sorry,” he let out a sigh.

-He just has a slight fever and is unconscious from the shock.

Madox ran his hand through the hair that was sticking to the red-haired boy’s forehead.

-I’ll take care of the rest,” the alpha said, gently leaving his hand on the bed and getting up to take what he needed to cure him.

Aidan noticed the alpha’s countenance and motioned for Dominic to come closer.

-Did they have a serious argument?

Dominic nodded. He wrapped his hand around his waist to lead him to the entrance of the room to give the pair some privacy. On the way he explained.

-Madox asked him to be his mate, but Julian turned him down,” she murmured close to his ear.

-But why would he do something like that? If he was in love with him. You could tell from afar- Aidan was surprised.

-He told her he’d found his destined mate.

Aidan stopped dead in his tracks.

-So it’s true what that guy said,” he spoke aloud and soon the room was filled with dense pheromones.

-Aidan,” Madox’s voice sounded low in his direction, “What did you say?
