I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 64

Madox was circling as if he were an angry tiger caged in his laboratory. He was spewing pheromones into the air so suffocating that all the scientists who had been there before had had to leave and no one dared to enter. But the most dangerous thing about him was his stare. He looked like he could slit anyone’s throat at any moment.

Even one of the beautiful nurses had tried to persuade him at the request of one of the workers and was now lying on a stretcher, unconscious. The reason for all this: Madox had not been able to talk to Julian. Firstly because he had not contacted him after leaving the message. And secondly. Because the call bounced back to him. Again and again.

She had blocked him.

Him.

She had blocked him.

He still couldn’t believe it.

That was what he had thought at first but when he called Dominic to tell his omega to call him instead, the same thing happened. He had blocked him as well. That was kind of irrational, why would he do something so radical? But other than that, he had something important to tell her. Too important.

He wasn’t stupid. Even though he no longer wanted him by her side, before he left her house, he had left the apartment flooded with her pheromones so she would have a record of who he had spent his heat with. But even more urgently, he had to tell her about his little big accident.

He’d stayed awake, mentally reassuring himself that she hadn’t impregnated him. That story was for someone else, not him.

He was an alpha with high fertility potential and more so in heat. He knew that from his regular medical routine. When he had said he didn’t want puppies in the near future it wasn’t in vain, so he took very good care of himself on his round-the-clock hunting trips. So after knotting with Julian it was certain that he was 200% fit. And I needed to tell him that. However he took it.

But at that point she couldn’t even communicate with him. And besides he couldn’t leave the hospital on the orders of the director as the director had something essential to talk to him about. It wasn’t like he cared much. He would kick his a*s if he had wasted his time so far. He needed to go to Julian’s house then and face him.

After all they were going to have a puppy, together. And this so-called destined mate of his could go to hell. If she had known she would be in this mental dilemma she would have let her instincts kick in and bite the omega’s neck.

Two hours later he walked out of that same director’s office and wanted to break the glass next to him. His teeth were gnashing so much he thought he would break them. Of all things. Go time for me to send him overseas for three months for a seminar at another hospital. And best of all, he couldn’t refuse.

The director’s secretary almost buried himself in the seat when the alpha walked past him. He was more irritated than before. Much more. And it was very evident of that state. Even the betas could tell that this alpha would crush anyone who got in the way.

But taking all that away he needed to relax first. Going to see Julian in that state was counterproductive. So she took a deep breath and in the bathroom splashed water on her face. Her hands clenched the edge of the sink and she feared she would break it. He had managed to control his pheromones somewhat, but he knew he would need a few minutes before he was completely under control.

Was life returning the favor, by any chance?

Ah, he hated the frustration inside him. It hurt so much.

He drove almost like a madman to the only place he could think of. He had barely finished parking when he got out of the car going up the stairs two at a time. Once in front of the door his hand froze on the door handle.

Come to think of it, she hadn’t even gone over how she would tell Julian what had happened between them.

“Birdie we had s*x during your heat, the condom broke and I’m sure you’re pregnant with me, so you can go ahead and forget about your destined mate.”

“Birdie you are going to marry me. You’re carrying my puppy in your belly and I’ll take responsibility. F**k your destined mate. You’re mine.”

The second option seemed the closest to what he would blurt out without thinking. He had to admit his tongue was pretty sharp and he never bothered to be tactful. Now it was time to learn to use it. Julian after all was not just anyone.

But to his surprise he found the door unlocked. He frowned and pushed it open.

-Julian,” he called worriedly, stepping inside.

The house was dark. That sent a shiver through his body. Something was not right. He started walking around looking for something, he didn’t know what, but something. And he found it.

On top of the table was the cell phone he had given her plus the key to the apartment. She walked over and turned it on. It was barely charged, but just enough to discover that Julian himself had blocked all but one contact.

NOLAN.

He recorded both his name and of course recognized his number. It was the same one he had found on his cell phone when he was in Hawaii and had called him so many times in ways, unhealthy ways. He grunted and the apartment filled with pheromones again.

-Julian- he called again but received no answer and went walking quickly to the room and what he feared most came true.

Julian’s clothes were gone, and so was his suitcase. The omega was gone…

And he hadn’t told her anything.

Madox’s breath caught in his throat and he took two steps backward, bumping into the edge of the bed and falling into a sitting position on the mattress.

One, two, three tears wet his pants.

He put his fingers to his cheeks, feeling them wet. Perhaps he was crying.

He rubbed his face in an attempt to stop them, but he couldn’t, they came one after another and the pressure in his chest barely let him breathe. Julian was gone, he had left him, he had abandoned him, and this time it was for real.

His body trembled and he covered his face with his hands. This could not be happening. The great alpha Madox, known for being a womanizer who lived life as he pleased, was completely defeated.

Worst of all, he didn’t know where Julian was or even where he could contact him. That was what terrified him the most.

An hour later Dominic was walking through the apartment door. He had left the company as soon as Madox had called him telling him about a certain event. For Madox’s voice to sound like that meant something wasn’t right.

-Madox-” he approached the alpha who was sitting with his head down on the edge of the bed still. He had barely moved.

-Dominic, he went and left me,” his voice was extremely low and the other alpha realized that his friend had cried. Great must have been the trauma for him to go to such extremes.

Dominic dropped down beside him and patted his back.

-He found his destined mate, it’s normal for him to have gone with him. I know it’s no consolation, but it’s better to face reality-

-But he carries my puppy,” Madox almost shouted.

Dominic’s eyes widened.

-What?” he could only articulate.

-What you heard, Julian is pregnant with me. I came over to his house while he was in heat and we had s*x but on the last lap I knotted and the condom broke-

Dominic could barely keep his mouth shut. He knew what it meant.

-Madox, this is not good. If your partner finds out, she’ll most likely make you have an abortion…or worse. He’ll kill the puppy if it’s born and he finds out it’s not his. We’re alphas, we react like this-

Madox clicked his teeth.

-You don’t have to remind me, for heaven’s sake. I know what the consequences can be when the alpha finds out the puppy isn’t his. And he’s sure to find out when Julian doesn’t fall in heat. I don’t even want to think about what it will do to him-

Dominic took a deep breath. At least Julian would be safe for the first three months if his mate didn’t know about his pheromone instability problem, and his neck would be safe if he didn’t go into heat sooner. But even with all that, it didn’t ensure that he would be okay. He was an omega with a weak constitution and pregnant could complicate his health greatly…and that of the puppy.

-Madox,” Dominic’s voice was stern and he stood up in front of him, “You helped me once and this time it’s my turn, I need you to clear your mind and think,” he shook him by the shoulders, “We’re talking about Julian’s safety. As much Julian’s destined mate as he is, he is an alpha like you and me and we know how our instincts work when what is ours is touched. Besides, he must know whose puppy that is. So the priority now is to find him-

Madox listened to his friend of years speak and slowly reacted.

-I only have this for the moment,” he pointed to his cell phone.

Dominic grabbed it and turned it on. It was empty of messages and past calls.

-It’s what I need. Leo knows someone who can retrieve the phone and even the messages. If necessary, even the conversations.

-You know that’s against the law,” Madox got out of bed.

-Look who’s talking, since when do you do things based on the law?

Madox smiled slightly.

-Since never. Then get off your a*s. If you get anything, you know who we need to call to take care of the rest.

-Or yes, the one who solved a certain little problem for us with Aidan’s mother and ex. Dominic took out his cell phone and called Leo. “I’ll give you something I need you to move in less than 24 hours.

-Dominic, there’s a problem,” Madox had a pale face, “I have to leave the country tomorrow.

The alpha raised an eyebrow.

-Then leave everything in my hands, I’ll do everything I can to find Julian.

-I knew that the only person I could really trust for this was you.

-Dominic patted his friend’s shoulder.

Julian walked through the huge station with only a small bag on his shoulder. He didn’t even have any clothes on except for the one he was wearing, he had hidden his own somewhere else. Nolan was a few feet away from him waiting for him to board the cruise ship that would take him away from everything he wanted. But he had no intention of getting to the destination point.

He had a plan in mind with which Nolan could no longer threaten him with destroying Madox. And he would not hesitate to implement it once the voyage began.
