I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 7
Aidan stopped eating his so far manicured fingernail, when he felt the metallic tasting viscous liquid in his mouth. What he was missing. He sighed and barely a hint of the worry he had left him.
-Is something wrong?” the driver of the cab he had taken on his way out of the company seemed concerned about his anxiety attack.
He nodded softly
-I’m fine thank you, just a little stressed,” the man must have been a beta, poised and respectful.
He leaned back in the seat and closed his eyes hoping to get home as soon as possible. He had turned off his cell phone so anyone calling him was sure to worry, after all he was a person used to answering even in the wee hours of the morning. He didn’t care now, the recent events were still on his mind and his body’s reaction to the intimate closeness he’d had with the president still made the back of his neck throb. And more worryingly, her anus, it throbbed uncomfortably.
What outraged her most was her physical response. He had been with Hans for some time now and he could have sworn that for a moment he had felt fuller than all the times with his boyfriend. He was going to bite his nail again, but came to his senses as he felt the constant pain.
-What a waste,” she said, admiring her bitten finger.
She closed the door of her house and the first thing she did was to look for the bottle of pills. It was empty, his mother hadn’t arrived so he hadn’t filled it. The flame of doubt now stung him.
Dominic had asked him if he took pills. What he didn’t know was what kind of pills they were. They had been prescribed for him and he had been taking them since he was a child, but when it came down to it, not even the name was known to him.
He tapped the ground repeatedly with the toe of his heel. Not once, not twice, things seemed strange. He needed to have answers. He wouldn’t jump to conclusions, that would only lead to misunderstandings and that was the last thing he wanted. He would ask directly and then investigate by his means. Maybe it was all in his head, maybe not.
The door to the house opened and the mother entered laden with bags and her typical stubborn face.
-Oh Aidan. It’s strange to see you so early, you didn’t have work today-
Aidan didn’t flinch at her words, he was annoyed, if there was one thing he didn’t like it was being taken for stupid.
-Mother,” he narrowed his eyes, “What are those pills I’m taking,” he waited for her, sitting on the sofa with his feet crossed and a frown on his face.
-What’s that for? I just got here and I’m tired.
-The young man used such a serious tone that his mother looked at him dumbfounded.
-What’s that tone? Don’t talk to your mother like that.
-Then speak,” he tried another, more direct method, “Are they suppressors?
She saw the woman’s face look astonished.
-Where did you get that blasphemy from? Why would I give you suppressants? You’re a beta, you don’t need them!
-Am I really a beta, mom, or is that what you wanted me to be?
-You’re a beta, it came out in your exams, if you want me to look them up for you.
His mother was right. In the exams was written a huge B for beta, but even so, there was something that didn’t add up and with her mother she wasn’t going to find out.
He closed his eyes and thought about it. She would have to do it on her own. Going to the local hospital was out of the question, her mother had worked there for years and as soon as she hit the lobby floor they would be calling her, so a b***d test wouldn’t get her hands on it.
-It’s okay, I’m sorry,” she feigned regret, “I’ve just been feeling sick these days, it must be hormonal craziness.
-My son- his mother seemed to be breathing again -Fatidic the day of that accident where you hit your lower belly- Don’t worry, Hans will be by your side. You’re a beautiful and decent beta, he won’t find anything better than you- -But he wanted to find something better than you.
But he wanted to find something better than him. He had not been given the opportunity to search and find the love of his life. They had engaged him at a young age and filled his head with the idea that they were the perfect match. Years later one realizes that fairy tales are pure fantasy.
-Do you have any more pills? The ones I had ran out and I couldn’t take the one I took yesterday.
-Of course,” she searched in her purse, there was everything there, and took out a new bottle, of course, without a label.
Aidan grabbed it and, feigning a smile, walked to his room.
-Since you’re here, what do you want to eat for lunch?
-Nothing,” he shouted from the stairs, “I’m not hungry,” his voice trailed off inspecting the pills.
In her room she twirled the small white piece between her fingers. It’s true it would be easier if she just stayed as she was, taking the pill could leave everything the same. Not taking it could change everything.
He looked at the cell phone above the bed and hesitated. There was only one person who could help him with that, much to his regret. It was about time his constant discomfort, sensitivity to the alphas’ pheromones and his president’s advances were answered, otherwise he wouldn’t be able to sleep.
She grabbed her cell phone and dialed the number she found on the business card in her purse. She waited for the most attractive male voice she had ever heard to answer.
-Hello,” he answered after two rings.
-President Dominic,” she could hear his breathing quicken on the other end.
-Of all people, I didn’t think it would be you calling me, not after you ran off this morning.
Aidan’s chest throbbed remembering the events. What the hell was wrong with his body that it was getting hot out of nowhere just listening to him.
-You say that I am your omega, that I am your destined mate. If that’s the case, I need your help.
