I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 8

-I need your help.

Dominic could not believe his ears. First the shock of receiving a call from his partner, who seemed to avoid him at all costs, had astonished him and then he was asking for help. Wow, what a star would fall from the sky.

-Anything you wish,” he replied, smiling. He knew he wouldn’t have to try very hard. He would get to where he needed to be all by himself. He wouldn’t have to lift a finger. And that call was the beginning of it all -What do you want me to do for you, love?- he said sensually.

-Do you know of a hospital where they do gender testing, safely and anonymously,” Aidan apparently ignored her hint.

Dominic took a few seconds to respond. If he was asking something like that it meant he was doubting that he was a beta. That was a good sign.

-The private hospital I attend.

He was again slow to respond, Dominic concluded that he was taking his time to measure his words.

-How much will it cost?” Of course the question was coming. Aidan was the head of a department so he shouldn’t be doing badly, but unlike him who was a millionaire, the gap was big, especially for him who liked specialized care.

-The cost is,” he smiled at what he was about to say, “a k**s from you, if you know what I mean.

This time it wasn’t seconds, Dominic thought he had lost the phone without hanging up until his voice came out a little shaky.

-It’s okay.

That caught him off guard and his body heated up in reaction. She wanted to k**s him so badly, he said yes, and acted like a teenager.

-When do you want me to take you? The clinic is about half an hour from here.

-After this week’s meeting with the new marketing operators…

Dominic was so motivated to go out with him that he had forgotten that little detail.

-Whatever you say, I’ll be looking forward to the day, my omega.

She felt him click his teeth on the other side.

-See you tomorrow-and he hung up.

Dominic expected him to say something like he wasn’t his omega or not to say words like that but that was a young man’s thing and even though the boy wasn’t even a quarter of a century old he seemed more mature for his age.

He left the phone on the table and leaned back comfortably in his chair, forgetting about all pending work. His mind was focused on something else. She had heard about and read about the destined couples, but she never thought it would be so…special. It was more intense, more wild, more delicious than anything she had ever experienced and she only knew just details about her partner. That would be settled before long.

Already the doubt that he was a beta was planted it just had to germinate and it would only be a matter of time before he was hers alone.

His crotch throbbed and he looked down.

-Like someone agrees with me but in a very bad place- he licked his parched lips and his breathing became ragged again. He was aroused and the idea of calling his fiancée to relax him did not sound appetizing. The image of his omega was the only thing he had a mind for.

He got up and locked the door. He would take care of his body alone with the image of his mate, hoping to have him underneath him completely naked and submissive to his person.

Aidan sighed as he cut off the call. He came to think it had been one of the hardest things he had ever done. Accepting the k**s from his boss and the one who claimed to be his destined mate. Maybe for other people that would be the best thing that ever happened to him, but not for him who was at a crossroads right now and had his boyfriend living next door. He was not a cheating man and did not want to be one in the future. He kept the pill inside the bottle and threw it into the drawer. He would see what the results of not taking the medicine would be. He hoped he would not regret that decision.

His door was knocked and he didn’t answer, he knew who it was and he didn’t feel like seeing him. Her body was rejecting the idea of being near her boyfriend Hans, that was not a good sign. The marriage date was planned for 7 months from now, and breaking the plans would put more than one of them walking the walls. Not that he cared much about the truth, but before taking any steps he had to be sure of what he was going to do. Tomorrow he would face the situation, he hoped he would come out of this unscathed.

Aidan stopped a few meters from the entrance of the company. After a bad night’s sleep he had to cover the dark circles under his eyes with more of his mother’s makeup and he was in a very bad mood. Both work and worries were causing him severe insomnia. Maybe she would have to go to the hospital first to resolve that issue.

He looked at the luxury car parked in the driveway and out came Dominic followed by a woman. He stepped back and hid in the shade of one of the trees in the company’s garden and waited, he didn’t want to show up unexpectedly and even more so since what had been discussed the day before. He would wait for her to enter and then he would, thus delaying the moment of their meeting. His mental preparation was weaker than he had imagined.

-Dulse pouted, “I don’t like this working thing, you’re hardly in the apartment,” she said.

Dominic sighed and unwound his arms from around her neck feeling her stomach churn at his touch.

-Dulse, I’ll be back early today and I have something to tell you.

He saw her frown and stand stiffly, he was sure she had already smelled something, after all she hadn’t wanted to get rid of her partner’s scent after that day’s rubbing and it would be strange if his current girlfriend hadn’t sensed it.

-It’s all right,” she turned mushy again, “I’ll be waiting with a delicious dinner.

She moved closer again and kissed his lips biting the bottom one. Dominic just let her do it, though he didn’t reciprocate. He just brought his hands to her waist and steadied himself as he was tall enough to have to stand on tiptoe. Although to the protagonists of the scene it was just a goodbye k**s without any attention from one of them, to anyone watching the scene it looked like a couple in a fiery k**s.

One of them was Aidan who just pursed his lips, what the hell was he doing, asking for her help? He already had a partner, a beautiful omega.

Did he want to realize that he really was an omega too and run into her arms? Dominic already had someone on the side, he wouldn’t leave her for him, someone he’d met just a few days. Surely as an alpha he had found something unusual in her life and had been interested in her for entertainment.

Naive

Stupid

That was what he had been.

What was the point of finding out the truth?

Fighting with her family. Fighting with her boyfriend. Breaking off her engagement. Instabilizing her prepared future. Risking her job.

And only for an alpha who had made her hesitate.

She rummaged through her purse and found the white pot. Her hands hesitated but she opened it. She pulled out a pill and swallowed it without thinking.
