I'm Not Yours, Alpha
I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 71

Dominic stirred in bed finding that the usual weight on his arm was missing. His eyes snapped open and he sat up too quickly in bed. He looked to all sides of the room finding that there was only him.

-Aidan?” she frowned.

He got out of bed quickly looking in the bathroom with the same result.

-Shit- he grunted and pulled on a pair of pants and his half buttoned shirt and ran out.

After what happened last night the thought of his omega being away from him was driving him crazy. That house, where he lived for many years and considered home, was now not a safe place. Not with his mother hanging around. He ran down the hallway looking for him, following her scent until on the second floor he found his father in the lobby that looked like he was on his way out.

-Dominic, good morning,” he greeted with an innate calmness.

-Have you seen my omega,” the alpha was tense and his breath came in puffs from his mouth as he paused.

His father bowed his head.

-He’s supposed to be with you. And no, I haven’t seen him,” he turned to the butler, “Look for him,” he ordered.

But the man didn’t take a step further when Reish heard his wife’s recognizable omega call, one that alarmed the alpha part inside him. His face turned in the direction of the door and this time he was the one who ran. His wife was in danger.

Aidan turned his back on Ophelia after saying everything he had inside. The weight he had been carrying on his shoulders lightened. Not because that omega had more money than he did could he believe he could do whatever he pleased. At least not with him. That at least he was glad it didn’t interfere with his relationship with his son, though he didn’t have to do much. Ophelia herself was in charge of pushing him away with her crazy actions.

He heard the omega’s sonorous footsteps behind him and turned quickly, perhaps that she wanted to throw him into the pool. His instincts had been activated for the moment but he could only see how the omega’s foot bent and her body fell straight into the pool.

-Wao- Aidan could only say, crossing his arms over his chest- I don’t want to sound like the warlock in all this, but getting a taste of your own medicine is not very nice, is it Ophelia?

He looked at her from the shore without moving. He imagined that now he would surely say that he had pushed her himself. Sure, sure, and again his alpha would be upset and he would have to do wonders to calm Dominic down. What a trip they were having, god. He was already starting to get annoyed.

-Sal…va…me…me…ayu…da- Ophelia’s voice sounded strange as water came in through her mouth.

Aidan focused on her for a few seconds. Really? The omega couldn’t swim? He sighed.

-I know I’m going to regret this,” Aidan mumbled and kicked off his shoes and dove into the pool.

He swam towards the woman and got behind him to hold her down, but in the omega’s rush one of her nails scratched Aidan’s face, leaving a marked line on his cheek.

-Stay the f**k still,” Aidan yelled at her, if she kept flailing around like that, he wouldn’t even be able to save her and it would be two of them who would end up at the bottom of the pool.

His shout seemed to bring Ophelia out of her state and she suddenly calmed down. Aidan took the opportunity to kick her in the direction of the shore. To his luck or misfortune, his alpha and the one with the omega in his arms were coming running in their direction. Now the real show was beginning.

Reish grabbed his wife and pulled her up helping her up. The woman threw herself against his chest, crying, coughing, sobbing, a mess. For his part Aidan was helped by Dominic easily and ran his sodden hair away from his face. Dominic’s fingers soon turned his face towards him and his eyes fixed on the wound on his cheek.

-Don’t say anything, it’s an occupational hazard,” Aidan smiled at him, “Now wait, the best part comes now. Your mother will surely say that I pushed her. I’ll bet you anything you want.

-Don’t play with that,” Dominic’s arms wrapped around him, his heart pounding after the shock of seeing both his mother and his partner practically fighting for their lives surrounded by water.

Ofelia was rubbing her husband’s chest. He said words to her and wrapped her in a pheromone sphere to calm her down. This seemed to have an effect, for after a while she stopped sobbing loudly and only hiccupped. Her husband took her in his arms.

-I’ll take her to the room, the doctor should be here soon to check her out.

Aidan raised an eyebrow. And the show was where it was. It wasn’t that he wanted it to happen but he already had the answers ready for her. But nothing happened. Well, much better, Dominic wouldn’t get even more upset. He reached over and kissed her cheek.

-I’m soaking wet and I’d like you to give me a bath, a hot one in a tub, I don’t think I feel like the pool.

The alpha nodded, serious. From his expression and his pheromones that were threatening to come out and that he was keeping tightly suppressed, she knew they didn’t have much time left in that house.

Once Aidan was bathed and dressed again by his alpha he left the room. He didn’t see him until he returned an hour later. He already had his bags packed. To his surprise Dominic was not irritated, but said nothing. He grabbed the luggage and with a nod of his head motioned for her to follow him and Aidan knew this was no time to antagonize her.

They both got out and walked to the entrance where they found their father waiting for them in front of the car.

-Father, we’re leaving,” Dominic’s tone was flat.

The alpha had his hands behind his back looking intimidating, but he relaxed his shoulders and his face melted into a disappointed expression.

-I wish this visit hadn’t turned out like this,” he patted his son’s shoulder after instructing the employees to put the luggage away.

-So do I, father,” he said sincerely, “but put yourself in my place, you would have acted the same way if my mother had been done the same thing.

Reish smiled bitterly.

-Your mother resisted something like that and worse, don’t question her that way, don’t be so hard on her.

-That doesn’t give her the right to do the same to others,” Dominic tightened his back. He wasn’t used to talking to his father like that, but he was an adult and independent alpha and he stood up for his own.

Reish sighed and turned to Aidan.

-I heard all about what happened. I apologize on behalf of my wife.

Aidan blinked slowly. He would like to know what exactly it was that she knew, but he would not stoop, after all they were leaving, he would not sour the game.

-Don’t worry, I know that, in the future, perhaps Ophelia and I can sit down and talk without resentment on either side,” he smiled politely, not believing those words himself.

Reish remained serious, understanding the sarcasm of his words. He reached into one of his pockets and handed Aidan a letter.

-Please read this, it’s from Ophelia. She told me that she doesn’t have the face to see you face to face, but at least with this I can understand her a little bit.

Aidan took the delicately folded paper.

-Thank you.”

-Father, we’re leaving now,” Dominic said and then walked to the car.

Reish realized that there was no way to delay his son’s departure so he stepped aside. Dominic opened the door for his omega and then he got in. His father stood in the back as they drove away.

-Remind me of this visit next time we visit,” said the alpha through gritted teeth.

-Your pheromones Dominic,” Aidan reminded him as he opened the paper.

Inside were words written by the hand of Ophelia herself. Aidan read every word. It was not a lengthy letter, simply what was necessary. It didn’t ask for an apology, but once he finished reading, the omega crumpled the paper and raised his eyes to the road and threw the paper out of the side window as the letter asked him to do in its last words.

-What did it say? Dominic was curious.

-Nothing dear, the only thing you want to know is that it’s very likely that your mother won’t put glass in my food next time we visit her.

Dominic looked at him blankly. He would definitely never understand the omegas.

Madox took the last sip from the crystal glass. What day was it? What time was it? He kind of didn’t care. His life was now an unpleasant monotony of work, alcohol and some sleep.

He had expected the door to open and a certain reddish-haired person to come in and throw herself at him. He had been a total fool not to appreciate that what had always been in front of him. Julian had been the one person who had never asked him for anything, never questioned anything, not even when he was rolling around with others. He had always waited for him with a smile and waited on him until he felt so good it seemed unreal.

But now he was alone, inside those walls of the apartment he had bought her and where he had spent the last few days. Being there reminded him at least that this place had been inhabited by Julian.

He put his hand to his face and growled. He hated feeling so shitty, but that was what he was. A stupid f**k who for not marking him the moment he could it all went down the drain. Now Julian wasn’t there anymore.

His cell phone vibrated next to him turning on the screen and giving some light to the dark room. He let it ring until he tired of the sound and answered.

-Finally Madox,” the familiar voice of Nicolas on the other end sounded even annoying to her ears.

-What do you want?” he said unwillingly.

-Well alpha, since you don’t want to move your a*s, there are people who esteem you who are willing to do it. You remember Nolan and his family’s Empire. We’ve got what we need to destroy it. Do you want to see it grovel at your feet?

A spark ignited inside Madox and sobriety returned to him.

-What do you think?
