I'm Not Yours, Alpha -
I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 78
Irina wanted to think that she hadn’t gone crazy. The man who had been trying so hard all week to supposedly win her nephew back couldn’t be flirting so openly, in a small town like that, could he? And with that omega? He wanted to think not and got a little closer and yes, there was no doubt. When the alpha raised his head with a smile he saw him thanks to the street lights.
That was definitely the bastard.
Julian was quietly knitting sitting on the couch in the house when the door opened and closed with a thunderous sound. His aunt came in almost running towards him and grabbed him by the shoulders. Her eyes were bloodshot.
-What’s wrong?” Julian couldn’t stop the tissue from falling out of his hands. His aunt was a difficult person but she rarely got out of control like that.
-Listen to me, Julian. That alpha a*****e, who can’t even be called the father of your daughters is a real a*****e. So don’t even think about seeing him again.
Julian blinked several times. He grabbed his aunt’s hands and removed them from his shoulder as they began to squeeze him carelessly.
-First calm down aunt and tell me what happened,” he tried to sound calm but his chest was already showing signs of tightening.
-That alpha is a womanizer,” that word didn’t surprise Julian who simply kept a slight smile on his face, “I was leaving work and what do you know, I found him with Lana lying on top of him and of course, like all the men she has her eye on, he was talking to her ear very intimately. Does he have the shame to come and pretend to you when he does those things?
Julian didn’t even speak. That scene was so natural to watch that he no longer felt anything. That was the reason he hadn’t accepted it. He knew it was only a matter of time before the alpha’s interest went to someone else. She just didn’t expect it to be so fast.
Still he stood up. There was a smile on her face.
-Don’t worry, Aunt. My daughters are mine- she ran a hand over her belly- I had no intentions of being with him even if he came. I just wanted him to know he was a father, I can’t deprive him of that right. So you can rest assured, I know him well enough to know not to cross that line.
He turned his back on Irene and walked to his room. When he entered and closed the door he let himself fall all over the wooden surface. Her eyes lost in nothingness, the smile had faded. Because he would be lying if he said he hadn’t been hopeful, after all he never imagined that by a simple call on a pay phone he would locate him even so quickly and precisely there.
He ran his hand over his belly and didn’t realize at the time it was, but he was biting his lower l*p. He wouldn’t cry. Not again. He’d done it several times before and never had any results so it was just for kicks.
Maybe it hadn’t been a good idea to have called him, it only hurt himself, but what could he do when he still loved him the same as before. Now all that was left was to become even stronger to try to forget him.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath but a throb of pain lashed his stomach. It wasn’t that strong, though it took her breath away for a few seconds. She m****d softly not wanting to alarm her aunt. Her face contorted and she caressed her tummy. The pain faded as quickly as it came, though that didn’t stop the same episode from repeating itself at least three times in the same night.
In the morning, after waking up worried about her pregnancy since her body was not the healthiest in the world, she got dressed to go to the small medical center in town. His aunt had already gone to work, she didn’t want to worry him more than necessary, she already allowed him to stay at home.
He just didn’t imagine that he would be exhausted just getting down from where he lived and going no more than halfway. He had been inside the house for too long, and besides, his pregnancy used to take quite a bit of energy out of him.
He slowly climbed the long stairs with the help of the banister. It was either that or take a turn she knew she wouldn’t be able to. She stopped almost at the top when her step was cut off by someone. He raised his head and his face became serious.
Lana.
He didn’t understand what the woman was doing there. Lana had been the only omega in that coastal town until he arrived. He figured that was why the few alphas in the area were vying for her, making her the center of attention. Julian didn’t care about that, he preferred to have a quiet life and take care of his daughters after they were born.
-Is something wrong? If you don’t mind you can get out of my way, I have somewhere to be,” he unconsciously placed his hand on her belly protectively. Omega’s instinct always protected their young before themselves and he had a bad feeling.
And this one didn’t fail. Lana had frowned and simply lunged forward and…pushed him.
Julian didn’t have time to react and his body felt itself falling backwards. Falling down the ladder terrified him, it made the chances of his pregnancy being in danger if he survived very great, they were no small ladder.
A whimper of fear escaped his lips, the kind of whimper that would entice any alpha to save an omega in danger to do so. It was totally involuntary, he never thought he would be helped by anyone. There weren’t that many alphas in that place for them to respond.
…
…
His body was pinned from behind crashing into him and not the ground. Julian shuddered as he was wrapped in those arms he knew so well. He couldn’t smell who it was, but the protective pheromones that enveloped him made him close his eyes. The memory of what his aunt had told him yesterday came to his mind and he tried to let go, but a growl echoed against his ear.
Only it wasn’t directed at him.
-I never imagined he’d actually have the nerve to do this- Madox’s voice was extremely low and as Julian looked up he noticed not only that he was annoyed, but that his fangs were in full view and his eyes were glowing.
The pheromones that earlier enveloped her like a protective cloak shot out against the omega steps above. Lana fell to her knees shuddering.
-I made my intentions clear to you last night,” those words came out of the alpha and seeped into Julian. His aunt had not lied at some point. The arms around him hugged him tighter as his scent turned sour from the sadness that enveloped him.
The omega raised her head and through the tangle of hair glared at him.
-I always get what I want. If what he has inside him is the obstacle to you being mine, then it has to go,” she gasped loudly.
Julian shivered at the surge of pheromones that suddenly enveloped Madox. He had never seen him so upset before in his entire life. Rather, he had rarely seen an alpha in such a condition. Not even Nolan when he was angry. He was like an alpha protecting his cubs…literally.
-What’s going on here?” a police officer ran towards them but stopped abruptly. He was a beta but the intensity of Madox’s pheromones was so dense that even Madox could sense it and his brow became damp with sweat.
-He,” the alpha began to say, “tried to kill my omega by pushing him down the stairs.
My omega…
He had said something like that. Julian didn’t know whether to be happy or sadder for getting his hopes up.
-I don’t…” Lana tried to speak amidst the trembling in her body.
-Officer- Madox spoke seriously- She committed attempted murder against MY OMEGA, you know the charges he can file- the beta nodded- I don’t have to repeat myself, do I?
The officer swallowed dryly.
-If you have proof…
-The alpha realized that there was practically no one in the area since it was a small town and it was working hours. He clicked his tongue, “At least get her out of my face, or I think this situation will end up the same but on my side”.
The officer nodded, he had an annoying alpha in front of him and the last thing he wanted was for his rage to increase. He was well aware of the explosive rage of the alpha and he was a simple beta. So he ran to Lana and picked her up to take her away.
Madox paid no attention to her as she was carried away. He was now more focused on the little omega in his arms. He buried his face in Julian’s fluffy hair and breathed in his scent as if it were a drug.
-God, I’ve been looking forward to this all week,” he smiled, rubbing against the boy affectionately, “Are you okay, you didn’t get hit?
Julian pursed his lips, what were these displays of affection after he’d just rolled around with someone else last night? The role of overly concerned alpha didn’t suit him at all. But he couldn’t say anything. The pain that had plagued him during the night returned, only this time it was so strong that his conscience grew darker and darker.
In the background he could hear Madox calling out to him, but it wasn’t enough to keep him conscious.
And he wished his pain had been physical.
