Immortal Desire
Chapter 11

Rupert’s eyes widened when Latina glared at him. He knew that the lady was strong and yet; he didn’t prepare for his doom. His body trembled in fear. The devil snow dissipated, but he could still feel icy. A tear fell from his eye when he realized something. He was scared, so scared.

“Sebastian, she will kill me…” Rupert shuddered as he looked at his friend’s eyes, begging for help. “S-save me.”

Latina got off the bed. She ambled towards Rupert and stared at him. “Was it you?” she turned her gaze to Sebastian, “Or was it you?”

Sebastian attempted to speak, but he was too late, Latina had already knitted his mouth with invisible life thread, a string that was said to be made of an immortal life force, the secret behind the unmoving attack of high-level vampires. It was stronger than iron and could resist fire, in fact, the more the person who was tied with the fiber moved, the more their energy weakened.

‘Damn! When did she learn to wield a life thread?’ he cursed in his mind. He couldn’t do anything but watch how Latina tortured Rupert.

“Answer me,” she asked the poor doctor as she wound his left arm using the fibers, “Did you use the devil snow on me?”

When Rupert couldn’t respond, she cut his other arm. “How dare you manipulate me?” Latina clenched her fist, glaring but crying at the same time.

Sebastian seized this opportunity and got rid of the life thread while Latina’s emotion was unstable. He couldn’t believe that a newly awakened Latina stunned him. He took Rupert away together with his two arms lying down on the floor from his angry lover and brought him to somewhere safe. When Sebastian was back inside the room, Latina was then sleeping.

“I didn’t expect that Rupert would work with you regarding this matter,” Cisto said. “If I arrived any later, she would have caused havoc in the city. I already told you before, be ready for the consequences.” He took a red stone from his pocket, “Use this to suppress her power temporarily. It’s up to you if you will continue altering her memories but remember to be responsible for your actions.”

Sebastian took the stone, “Red Lhaphrite? How did you get a hold of this?”

Cisto shrugged, “It was in the sacred cave. I thought it could be in need, so I picked it. Let Latina wear it while she is unconscious.” The elder checked on the lad who was lying on the bed, “If you’re content about this outcome then do not forget about this young boy. He needs treatment. Tell Rupert that keeping this child will help him with his research,” he added, getting ready to take his leave.

“I got it,” Sebastian responded. He was glad that Latina had finally awakened her vampire nature, but it also meant that she’d recover her memories. She would detest him, loathe him and for the worst, abandon him.

“I’m sorry sweetie, just a little longer. I’ll surely confess everything one day,” Sebastian muttered, attaching a life thread on the red Lhaphrite, putting it on Latina’s neck and casting the spell to change her memory about what happened. He did the same to the boy who remained unconscious on the other bed.

“Here,” Sebastian placed a purse of gold coins on the table next to Rupert. The latter was laying his back on the bed in silence, concentrating on restoring his arms. “I didn’t think your restoration ability would be of use. Get well soon,” Sebastian added before patting his friend’s head.

“Your lover almost killed your best friend, and you were just watching in the corner,” Rupert said coldly. “Please don’t let me see both of your faces,” he continued.

“All right! Thanks to you though, I mean it. Without the devil snow,” Sebastian beamed at the other room where Latina was, “I won’t be able to keep her beside me.”

“Now that you put it that way, it sounded like I helped you force a lady to be with you. That doesn’t make me feel any good,” Rupert retorted. He stared at the purse on the table, “You’re paying me gold coins for my services?”

“Ha! You wish I just thought you might need it in a little while. I’m leaving it here and the child too,” Sebastian said and headed to the door.

“You’ll leave the boy here? I’ll feed on him if you dare, don’t bring me more trouble!” Rupert screamed in frustration.

“Shh. You’ll wake her up,” Sebastian scolded his friend, who immediately shut his mouth up. “You don’t want her to go wild for the second time, right? Besides, the elder was the one who suggested the boy stay with you. I’ve taken care of his memory, he’ll forget about what happened.”

“If that’s what the elder suggests then I think I have no way to refuse,” Rupert answered, sighing.

Sebastian carried Latina in his arms, “We’ll take our leave then.”

“What about Latina? How would you handle the things from here now that she finally awakened?”

Sebastian stopped on his track, “I’ve decided to keep it for a while until I make sure that she won’t have any way out.”

“You’re a cruel lover. Good luck then, hope you’ll get her pregnant after tonight.”

Rupert said after shaking his arms, finally restored. “Monitor her until she gives birth too, or she might end up killing both the baby and herself once she finds out that her loving Sebastian is a vampire lord who stole her from her mate. Yeah, that sounds tragic, I like tragedy the most.”

With a heavy heart, Sebastian left the city with Latina. The trip back to his manor was quiet. He made a rash decision that he could never undo, but he was sure to face everything head-on.

Anything that involves Latina and his future with her, he was willing to take all the risk. Because the vampire lord only wished to be with someone until the end of his days. When he was given a chance and found that suitable person, he wouldn’t let it slip away.

Meanwhile…

“Child, are you awake?” Rupert asked the boy who was covering his face with a blanket. The doctor clicked his tongue when the boy didn’t answer. “How long will you keep pretending that you’re sleeping? Lunchtime is over, don’t you want to eat?”

Marco hurriedly jumped off the bed, “Sir, if you don’t wish me to stay I would leave immediately. I don’t think this place is safe.”

Rupert knitted his brow, “What do you mean?”

The young boy avoided the doctor’s gaze, “I had a horrible dream. In my dream, I was being devoured by a monster.”

“HAHAHAHA! Stop imagining,” Rupert said while patting the boy’s back. “You must be too hungry to dream of impossible things,” he added. ‘That monster’s name is Latina,’ he thought while patting the boy harder.

Marco shook his head, “No, I swear my dreams are always accu—”

“Excuse me, is there anyone inside?” Someone called from the gate, interrupting the boy.

Rupert shrugged and walked to the door to check. Marco followed him.

“Do you need anything?” the doctor asked.

“Oh, I’m the store owner where Sir Sebastian shopped earlier. He ordered me to deliver the goods he bought to this address. Are you perhaps Dr. Millavo?” the store proprietor inquired, holding a pen and stationery in his hand.

The doctor counted the boxes behind, “There are more or less ten boxes. You’re in the right place, I’ll sign the paper to accept the delivery,” he said.

“Sure, please sign right here after I get the payment. It’s a total of one hundred fifty-seven gold coins,” the store owner answered with a smile.

‘He didn’t pay for it yet?’ Rupert thought to himself.

“Boy! Quickly get the purse on my bedside table and count how many gold coins that jerk has left.”

“Aye!”
