Chapter 10

Rupert pulled a face when Sebastian came back later than he expected. The lovers were affectionate, walking in, side by side.

“I’m a doctor, why do I have to keep an eye on this boy for the whole two hours?” Rupert crossed his legs, raising a brow in front of his best buddy, neglecting the fact that his best friend was no other than the vampire lord.

“Who told you to watch the boy sleep? You could have just left him in the room and do something productive,” Sebastian said, frowning.

“Thank you for taking care of Marco, Sir,” Latina said. She turned to see the sleeping boy, smiling, as she sat on the chair next to the bed.

Rupert scratched his nape, “There’s no need to thank me, my lady.” He tried not to sound too sweet or else Sebastian would be jealous again.

“How’s the boy?” Sebastian asked, gesturing to Rupert to come closer. “Is he healthy?”

Rupert tilted his head to the side and walked out of the room, Sebastian followed.

“You’re not planning to feed this boy’s b***d to her, are you?” Rupert asked when they reached his private office.

Sebastian looked away, avoiding Rupert’s eyes. “Other than having intercourse, she also needs to consume human b***d to conceive. You know that she will be the most powerful vampire, but she’s required to drink human b***d to awaken the power sealed within her. With that, she can conceive and give birth to a perfect king,” Sebastian added.

“To conceive the child of someone else other than her mate,” Rupert said in a firm tone, trying to pull Sebastian back to reality, a fact that was hard to twist. Vampire women can only conceive their mate’s child and Sebastian wasn’t Latina’s mate. “What if she continues to refuse to drink human b***d? How long will you keep her in the dark? She has every right to know about the truth,” Rupert continued.

“You don’t understand! I found her!” Sebastian yelled. A spell protected the room and no one could hear what they were talking about from the outside. “She’s mine… that day when I took her outside the sacred cave, she became mine. I’ve marked her and no one can take her away from me, not even that bastard vampire kid who called himself her mate.”

Rupert shook his head, “So you’ve met Seth. Do you know why Latina remained inside the sacred cave, why no one dared to help her out? Simple because her mate isn’t yet of age. Seth needs at least ten or more years to get her out. So while he can’t do it on his own, to protect the vampire race against the beast tribe, that boy roams around the borders to fight every intruder while the king has still not been born.” Rupert stopped, he wanted to say more, but the atmosphere was getting heavier.

He didn’t want to hurt his best friend’s feelings, but he wished him to do the right thing.

“It doesn’t mean that since you’re the current lord of the race and a true-b***d vampire, you’re the most capable. The previous generations may be in slumber this time but they’re more powerful. I don’t want you to end up in trouble once they wake up and find out about the thing with that lady. Knowing that she’s the only de Llava left, the true-b***d clan whom everyone envies, it won’t be that easy,” Rupert said without batting his eyelashes.

“But I’m your ally, so I’ll stand by your side no matter how narrow your mindset could be sometimes. Rest assured, I’ll help you out. Just be sure to take the full responsibility when things get out of hand,” he added, patting Sebastian’s shoulder.

“Thank you,” Sebastian murmured. He heaved a sigh. His friend was right. He might be powerful, but when the other true-bloods awaken after their century-long sleep, he wouldn’t be able to raise a finger against them. Plus he needed to protect Latina too, he can only try harder to get stronger.

“Just pay the boy’s medical fee. I have to earn more money before the birth of my mate or else she won’t marry me,” Rupert said in a frantic voice. “I don’t want to sleep another century while waiting for her!”

“Tsk, you’re hopeless,” Sebastian said in a bored tone.

“Maybe I should start robbing someone else’s mate as well. What do you think? I like Claudia, but she’s your mate after all,” Rupert continued to nag while they’re getting out of the office to check on the boy and Latina. The vampire lord ignored his statement.

“Ah!”

The men stared at each other’s eyes upon hearing Latina’s scream.

“Something’s wrong,” Sebastian ran quickly to the next room, only to find Latina crouching on the corner, covering her face with her both hands.

“Are you alright? Sweetie, look me in the eye,” Sebastian said while trying to calm the lady. “Shh, tell me what happened.” He hugged her tightly and whispered comforting words, “It’s fine, I’m here.”

“How do you feel?” Rupert asked Marco who’s quietly sitting on the bed. He was staring at Latina’s helpless state.

“I’m fine, though I’m not sure what happened. The lady was talking to me, and we shook hands,” Marco narrated, his face full of worries about the Latina who still wouldn’t stop crying. “T-then, she suddenly shook her head like she’s looking at something terrible and screamed.”

“What have you done to her?” Sebastian glared at Rupert, accusing his friend of having something to do with the incident.

“Nothing as of the moment,” Rupert answered. He faced the boy and flicked his forehead, making the boy lose consciousness. “I told you, I’ll help. Get away from her,” he pulled Sebastian away from Latina.

“Ah! B***d! There’s so much b***d!” Latina cried while looking at her hands. Sebastian stared at them and saw no trace of b***d at all.

“You’re showing her hallucination?” Sebastian asked his friend. He doesn’t want Latina to suffer but, if Rupert could make her drink human b***d, he needed to be patient.

“No, whatever she’s seeing right has nothing to do with me,” Rupert answered, getting closer to Latina who started kicking her legs in resistance. “I have done nothing yet. I doubt if my spell will work on her on other days except for today, she seemed occupied and weak.” Rupert flicked his finger in the air, and snow started to fall out of nowhere.

“Latina, you can drink as much as you want. No one’s stopping you…come,” Rupert whispered.

As the snow continued to fall, the room got a little colder. Latina stopped crying. She stood on her feet and walked to the bed where the unconscious boy was laying down.

Sebastian stayed silent, looking at Latina who obediently follows, like a puppet, controlled by Rupert’s ability, the devil snow.

‘I’m more concerned about the reason why she’s vulnerable today. Did I miss something?’ Sebastian asked himself. His thoughts were interrupted when Latina climbed on the bed, stared at the boy’s neck, and without hesitation, she sank her fangs, slurped the b***d out of Marco’s body.

It was rather wild compared to the way she sucked Sebastian’s b***d. That moment, the Latina in front of him was different, she was not the sweet and daring lady, she was the vampire Latina.

“Who dared to play a trick on me?”
