Chapter 19

The radiant sunshine was blanketed by dense clouds, rain poured harder as the breeze blew stronger. Just like a sudden storm in daylight, the western woods seemed to be punished by the gods.

“Can’t you manage something about the wind?” Claudia asked the boy in her arms.

“Tch, you guys are the ones who gave me the title of ‘Prince of Air’ but it doesn’t mean I can deal with the air in this kind of weather. There’s someone who can do something about it…” Seth hesitated and frowned. “It can’t be her doing, right?”

There was panic in Seth’s voice. He got off Claudia’s embrace like he wasn’t injured a few minutes ago and stood. “Old hag, Latina must be behind this weather!”

Seth’s words rang in Claudia’s ear. ‘It can’t be,’ she thought while pursing her lips. The thought of Latina doing something powerful made her ignore the word that Seth used to call her.

“Let’s go,” the young knight said and looked around, checking out his surroundings.

“Don’t you need to rest for a while?” Claudia asked, concerned about the boy’s condition.

“I’m better. But this abrupt change of weather is not normal, it must have been Latina’s doing. Only the de Llava clan can control the weather. I can’t think of anyone else who can do this other than her,” Seth explained.

“No way, if she can do something like this…”

Claudia’s words were cut off when Seth dragged her with him. He made a crystal-like path in the air and led the way. They glided in the air like floating lights on a rainy day.

“Aw,” Claudia m****d when she bumped into Seth. She almost slipped and fell from the crystal bridge. “Why did you stop?” she asked when Seth didn’t move. “Aren’t we supposed to hurry and check on the situation back at the lord’s mansion?”

“Can you still teleport fifty meters or more to the east?” Seth asked instead of giving her an answer. His eyes were locked on the white wolf in front of him. “If you can, then do it! I’ll take care of the Alpha,” he instructed and pushed Claudia off from the bridge. The lady fell but disappeared after mouthing ‘Damn you,’ to the younger.

“You made your choice. I’ll kill you first then I’ll let that wench follow you, how does it sound?”

The young knight grinned, not bothered by the beast’s words. “Just a friendly advice, keep your mouth shut. Your breath stinks,” Seth retorted, crunching his nose. He chuckled when the wolf growled.

“Idiotic creature,” Seth murmured. A sword made of blue flame appeared in his grip. It was glowing amid the heavy rain. Seth aimed his weapon on the beast and charged, his movement was swift, surprising his opponent with his attack. He smiled when he was successful in wounding his enemy’s limbs.

“A little knight holding a toy,” the beast muttered and leaped over the boy, striking him with his claws.

Seth was fast enough to dodge the alpha’s strike. He slid on the crystal bridge which started melting since it was made of thick ice and struck his blade on the beast from underneath. He jumped backward and swung his sword for his final blow when he heard a familiar scream.

“Ah!”

“Latina?” Seth muttered, he thrust his weapon on the alpha’s left eye before jumping off the bridge. The ice melted when Seth withdrew, causing the poor beast to land horribly on the muddy ground.

“Dang! That little bastard sure knows how to use his blade,” the beast g*****d in pain after turning back to his human form. He pressed his palm on his bleeding eye and focused on healing it. “You’ll damn pay for this, kid.” The Alpha went on his feet and rushed to the direction where the scream came from. “Wait for me, my beauty, I’m coming to get you,” he added with a grin.

“Latina!” Seth called when he saw the lady on her knees. He could hear her sobbing. The young knight felt a pang in his chest when he realized how pitiful the lady’s condition was. He walked closer to her and offered his hand, “Let me help you up.” Latina heard what he said but ignored his offer. She wiped her tears and looked up at the dark sky.

“Stop crying,” Seth whispered and cupped Latina’s face. Her eyes were swollen, and her lips turned plumper. Even her cheeks were flushed red. “You look ugly now, quit sobbing.” The boy continued to coax her, not exactly knowing how to console a lady.

Latina opened her mouth to say something when she felt a stinging pain on her nape. Everything happened so fast. The next thing she knew, she was being abducted by a giant white wolf with its fangs on the back of her neck. Her sight got blurry until she finally lost consciousness.

“Latina!” Seth cried when the lady was snatched right in front of him. It happened in a brief moment that he wasn’t prepared at all. He chased after the wolf, trying to retrieve the lady but failed when he was surrounded by an entire pack of wolves. “DAMN!” he cursed and bit his l*p.

“Are you lost, little boy?” a brown wolf asked.

Seth gritted his teeth. ‘Today’s not a lucky day for these beasts,’ he thought to himself and roamed his eyes to count the number of his opponents.

“All right, beastards! Let me show you the way to hell,” he announced and moved.

Growls and g****s echoed in the woodlands as the rain dissipated. A few moments later, a loud cry could be heard in the whole western woods. It wasn’t the wolf’s cry, it was the young knight’s who failed to protect his mate.

“Latina!”

Seth’s voice became hoarse. He doesn’t know how to face the vampire lord after he let the werewolf alpha take Latina away.

“It’s such a shame that I couldn’t compete with those guys. If I was born a few years earlier, no man could ever lay a hand on you.” Seth stared at his hands covered in b***d. “Wait for me Latina, I’ll bring you back to the Lord’s arms.”

The young knight left the place with nothing but his resolve. Heading to the southern part of the empire, he was determined to charge into the enemy’s den and take back what belonged to the b***d tribe.
