Immortal Desire
Chapter 41

When the heat burns and the cold freezes, even a soul won’t stand to exist. If Delia, the snow guardian, and Agatha, the flame fairy understood how their strength worked, maybe, they could have eased the suffering of the soul trapped in the curse.

“Well, who would have thought that you’ll turn into an ugly hag. The oh-so-great ‘Ice Fairy’, the wonderful ‘Snow guardian’, hah! In the end, you suffered more losses than I have,” Agatha commented while inside Latina’s body. She flipped Latina’s hair like it was hers. “Latina grown to be a fine lady, having her body for a while made me reminisce about the time when I was in my youthful days.”

The room’s temperature rapidly dropped, turning almost the entire room into ice. Almost but not everything since the part where Latina’s body was comfortably sitting remained unaffected.

“Oh! I miss those days so much that I don’t feel like returning this body to its owner anymore,” Agatha continued, ignoring her frozen surroundings.

“Stop talking nonsense, Agatha! That body doesn’t belong to you, give it back!” Delia exclaimed, causing the other to laugh.

“Look at you my dear sister aren’t you supposed to be the calm and perfectly composed lady as you were before?” Agatha stood and walked a few steps forward. The ice melted and the room went back to normal. “Don’t flaunt your petty ability in front of me,” she grinned before setting the place on fire. “Oops, I forgot that this shabby mansion was made of Lhaphrite stones. Do you mind if I change their colors to red?” The flames didn’t last and the walls turned red.

“I don’t want to argue with you. Bring back Latina’s soul or else we’ll be doomed…” Delia’s voice came out softly.

“What? Are you afraid to break your promise to that man? He abandoned you when you fell from grace, lost your status, and was punished. You’re no longer the ice fairy nor the snow guardian. Look at yourself Delia, you’re nothing but an old witch.” Agatha went back to sit on the bed, with arms and legs crossed, she glared. “You can’t even call on spirits without your b***d offering. How pathetic yet you still think about how to fulfill your promise? No matter what you do, he won’t love you back.”

“I know,” Delia answered, standing still. “He won’t love me, and he will never love you too. But that promise needs to be fulfilled no matter what. This is not just about my personal feelings, Agatha. This is all about the entire race.”

The fire fairy laughed. “Who cares about other races? Vampires fed on b***d, Beasts fed on flesh, Witches fed on emotions, fairies fed on memories, humans fed on anything edible to their taste, and others fed on other races and sometimes with each other.” Agatha made a disgusting face. “Do I look like I care?”

Delia flicked her fingers while murmuring a spell. A blizzard occurred for a moment. She was giggling when it dispersed a few seconds later. The old witch Delia was gone and the snow guardian Delia appeared.

“What the!” Agatha exclaimed when she saw her elder sister, the most favored in the fairy realm, the one she envied. “I thought you’re already old and dying?!”

The witch snorted. “If you didn’t see through my magic then I can’t blame those who think you’re not the best,” Delia mocked. “I was banished from the fairy realm but my powers weren’t taken away. If we analyze our punishment…yours was far worse than mine.” She walked towards the flame fairy who started fuming. “You were imprisoned in the sacred cave, right? I wonder how you got out of that place?”

Agatha looked away. She knew she could never surpass her sister, not in beauty, knowledge, and even in power. Although the fire was said to be superior to other elements, she couldn’t use it to the fullest as she wasn’t skilled enough.

“My dear little sister, get out of that body and help me save that vampire. If you do as I say, I won’t tell anyone that you sneaked out,” Delia whispered. “If father knew about this, he might change his mind and decide to lock you up for eternity.”

“Hah!” Agatha faced her sister with a smug face. “You think I would be scared of another punishment? I was enjoying my time inside the sacred cave until someone unlocked the seal. It wasn’t my fault why I am outside right now!”

In Delia’s eyes, looking at her sister who’s acting complacent and mighty inside Latina’s body is kind of funny but annoying at the same time. “How about I tell father that you bore grudges against the b***d queen so you possessed her body?”

‘This bitch!’ Agatha yelled inside her mind. “First,” she raised her index finger, “I only possessed this body since her soul isn’t around yet.” Agatha raised her another finger, “Second, for your information, I’m Latina’s godmother. Even if you won’t tell me to help you get her soul back, I’ll do it on my own. That’s already been decided when I sneaked inside your petty village.”

“Oh? I wonder how you sneaked inside the village. So, what’s the third?” Delia asked. If there’s someone who knew Agatha the most, that would be her. She could tell that her sister wanted to say more.

“Finally, Latina is beyond salvation. I’m afraid we can’t do anything to save her,” Agatha bowed her head. “The red Lhaphrite that suppressed Latina’s power was broken. Even if it’s not, her power is bound to awaken. I think this is not the first time she went berserk while craving for b***d,” she added.

The snow guardian raised her brow. “The Lhaphrite stone was broken because of your fire. If we could go to the spirit world and find her soul before it completely vanishes, we might be able to save her.”

“It wasn’t my fire at all. I came and took Latina’s body when the phoenix left,” Agatha explained. She beamed at her sister when an idea popped into her head. “We’re not allowed to enter the spirit world anymore. Besides, we can’t be sure if we can find her soul there. It might be somewhere else. But we could try doing something to save her, I guess we could give it a shot.”

“What is it?”

Agatha’s lips curled up. She loved the sight of Delia asking her what to do. It boosted her confidence in an instant. “Latina’s memories have been altered. When I came to find her after doing some business somewhere else, she could no longer see me. My existence was somewhat removed from her brain. We can’t guide her soul back to her body, but we can give her back her memories,” she explained. “Once she recalls everything, she could decide for herself whether to live or to perish. Only if the soul yearns for its body will it find its way back.” Agatha would have already jumped in joy after seeing her sister’s relieved expression due to her brilliant idea, but she couldn’t. Not when Latina’s life was in danger.

“That’s excellent. I can help her get back her memories,” Delia muttered. “We can’t just save Latina but at the same time, fulfill our promise to him.”

“The problem is,” Agatha heaved a sigh. “If Latina chooses to live, there’s no guarantee that she will be the same.”

The sisters went quiet. They knew the risks. Helping the b***d queen regain her memories means death to everyone who went against her, be it the vampires or other races.

The prophecy that the first vampire king told them about had already started to fill the puzzle. Delia was the ice fairy and the fairy queen-to-be when she met Calix, a true-b***d vampire and the origin of the b***d tribe. It happened before the other vampires existed. She fell in love with him secretly. Hiding her passion for the man, Delia devoted herself to him. The lovely fairy was about to confess her feelings when Calix mentioned leaving the fairy realm to interact with other races. The thought of being away from the one she loved caused her heartache, so she decided to let him know at least.

Fate was indeed stronger than Delia’s determination when her younger sister Agatha confessed in public, announcing her feelings for Calix throughout the fairy realm. What happened after was a total disaster causing both of them to be punished. Later on, they found out the truth about Calix’s true identity. They had no idea that he was a b***d demon. After finding out, Delia continued to love him but Agatha regretted her action. It turned out that she wasn’t truly in love with him. She only wanted to have what her sister desired.

“Ugh!”

Delia went back to reality when Agatha g*****d. She felt her hair standing up when she saw her sister’s soul being pulled out by an unknown force from Latina’s body.

“Ah! What’s going on?” Agatha managed to ask, struggling to stay inside the body.

“Y-you should get out of that body Agatha! I-I think the owner is back,” Delia muttered. She wasn’t certain about it but that was the only explanation she could give.

“WHAT? We haven’t helped her yet with her memories!”
