Chapter 43

The inside of the sacred cave was dark and cold and empty. As the people outside began to chant a spell in order to seal the only entrance and exit of the cave, a song of despair could be heard. The voice of the singer was mellow and soft, empathizing with the family of three who were locked inside.

The woman with long, black, shiny hair had a pretty face and soft skin. Her slender body was covered by a red piece of cloth and nothing else. There were no scars left on her skin but traces of b***d could be seen. Her voice was sweet and warm, calling out the girl’s name in the man’s embrace, “Latina,” she spoke and, with loving scarlet eyes, she kissed the girl’s forehead.

The man with a jet-black, straight hair, and a few strands covering his face had a rather similar face as the woman beside him. A man’s version to be precise and even others could easily tell that they’re siblings. Some may even think that they were twins. He had a fine build, like a woman, his body was wrapped only by a red cloth. He pulled the woman closer to him, hugging the two most important people in his life. “It’s alright. Everything will be alright,” he whispered.

A five-year-old girl tightly gripped her father’s arm, nuzzling her head on his chest while holding on to her mother’s arm with her tiny hands. She was scared of the dark, but she didn’t want to complain about it since she knew that her loving parents would stay by her side.

The song of despair started to reach its climax. The singer’s once mellow and soft voice began to raise its pitch, like a diva in the middle of nowhere she appeared, the red flame fairy who guards the sacred cave. After she finished her desperate piece, she asked, “Why were you punished?” and the man answered, “I sinned. I fell in love with my sister.”

“I see,” the red flame fairy nodded her head. “What about you?” she asked the woman who was leaning her head against the man’s chest. “I sinned. I fell in love with my brother.” The red flame fairy crossed her fingers, the love between the two was real but wasn’t right.

“How about the little girl?” the red flame fairy asked again, looking at the girl, “Tell me, why were you punished?”

The little girl stared at the red flame fairy, instead of answering, she asked, “Why would my parents suffer because of me?” Her voice was trembling and the red flame fairy knew that the girl was in pain.

“Latina,” the sweet voice of her mother somehow soothed the pain. “Don’t be afraid, we will protect you.” Little Latina nodded her head. “That’s our little girl,” her father said, rubbing her back.

Watching the family’s bond, the red flame fairy decided, “I’ll watch over you until the end. I want to know the power of your love.”

Time went by, and the little girl got used to the dark. Although she could occasionally see the shades of red wrapped around her parent’s and the red flaming body of the red flame fairy, she was content seeing something else but black.

It was a night of full-moon, Latina went uncontrollable. She felt a strong force pulling her out from the cave but the only way out was sealed with a spell and, the longer she endured the pain, the lesser she became who she wanted her to be. She felt an overbearing thirst she hadn’t experienced before.

“Latina, drink my b***d,” she heard her father say, and she refused without thinking twice.

“No,” shaking her head, she pushed her father away from her.

“Latina, how about Mom’s b***d?” her mother offered, pulling the red cloth away, showing her neck in the dark. Latina was surprised to see it clearly, she thought that it must be because she got used to the dark.

“No,” she refused once again and turned her back to her mother.

“Latina, our life would be meaningless if you won’t survive. We were born to drink b***d and other than me and your mother, no one can give you what you need.” The voice of her father lingered in her mind, she shook her head and kicked her legs.

“Latina, everything will be fine. You can have as much as you want,” her mother continued.

“Will it hurt you?” the little girl asked, concerned. She smiled while nodding her head when her parents said ‘no’.

Everything went silent. Nobody dared to make a sound when Latina finally gave in on her desire.

That night, she devoured her parents. Her loving parents managed to smile while their little girl sucked their b***d to death.

They may be known as the strongest siblings among the vampire race. The most powerful immortals, but they died just to provide what their love desires.

“So this is how you wanted to end your love?” the red flame fairy asked but the couple won’t be able to answer anymore.

“Nooooo!”

The fairy quietly watched as the girl mourned her parent’s death. Hugging the red clothes they used to wear as they turned into ashes, Latina started to feel scared. She tried to kill herself many times, her b***d filled the cracks inside the cave yet she remained alive. That was the time when she realized the b***d within her was once her parents’. Lonely and hopeless, she curled her body and closed her eyes. Latina chose to sleep for life than to be alone and awake in the dark.

And so she slept…

Until one fateful day, after a hundred years in slumber, someone came to wake her up.

“Rise and shine,” the man said with a smiling face. His smile was blinding. Latina saw colors for the first time in her life. She locked her eyes on him, waiting for his next move. Her ears perked when he spoke to her again.

“My name is Sebastian.”
