Immortal Desire -
Chapter 52
Delia and Agatha stared at each other. They both felt the sizzling heat swarming inside the room. “Oh my!” Agatha exclaimed, watching the flame grew stronger. “This isn’t my doing. It’s out of control!” The fire fairy jolted up in the ceiling, staying away from Latina. After she was kicked out, she failed to possess the body over and again. And when she saw how Latina’s body bathed in the fire, she was grateful it was no longer under her possession. Agatha may be the fire fairy, but she wasn’t able to control her power before she was locked in the sacred cave.
“Can’t you do something?” Delia asked, hoping that she would get a positive response. She rolled her eyes when Agatha shook her head and shrugged. “You’re useless,” Delia mumbled.
“Excuse me! Why don’t you do it? Aren’t you always the best? Prove it,” Agatha raised a brow and crossed her arms on her chest while floating in the air in her fairy form. “What? You can’t?” she continued.
“Tsk. You’ll remain useless forever unless you harness your strength. We’re not getting any younger, Agatha.” Delia took a step forward. She was afraid because she was uncertain about Latina’s power. But if she chose to run like what she did years ago, she knew…. she will regret it.
“Delia! What are you doing?!” Agatha asked, yelling.
“You said she’s your goddaughter. It’s such a shame if you don’t help her at all,” Delia responded while moving forward. “What would she think if she remembered everything and realized that her only godmother did nothing but watch her suffer?” She lifted her hands in an attempt to grab Latina who had been surrounded by fire.
‘Duh! I’m her godmother so why are you acting like it’s your responsibility to help her at all?’ Agatha chewed on her l*p and went closer to the flames. She pulled her sister away before diving in to get Latina’s body. Her wings started to take damage by the heat. ‘If only I could grow wings made of fire then I won’t have to worry about it at all,’ she thought. Mustering enough strength, she grabbed Latina’s hair and dragged her away from the inferno. “Come on, Latina! When will you wake up brat?” she yelled in her ears. Her wings were completely burnt, causing her to fall.
“Snow maiden!”
The sound of bell ringing could be heard throughout the entire village. The wind stopped moving in a second after its last rang and the snow started to fall. A beautiful white maiden appeared before Delia. “It’s been a long time since I was summoned. What can I do for you?” the snow maiden asked. Everything about her was white, from the tip of her hair down to her toenails. The snow maiden was one of the powerful spirits in the fairy realm.
“Extinguish the fire within this room,” Delia commanded.
The snow maiden obeyed. She faced the flames and gave her best to stop it but failed. She stopped when she realized something. “This is the hellfire. I’m ashamed to say but I couldn’t beat it. It requires holy breath to stop the flames,” the snow maiden informed. She bowed her head and bid her goodbye.
“Hold on,” Delia stopped her. “Is there any other way to stop these flames?”
“There is,” the snow maiden responded rather quickly. “You have to wake up its master,” she turned and pointed at Latina. “The current master of the hellfire is this lady. It seems like she already grasped the truth about her identity.”
“Agatha, can you hear me?” Delia called right after the snow maiden left. “You have to wake Latina up,” she added. It had been a couple of minutes but Agatha didn’t reply at all. ‘If I could just simply pick you up. But we’re bound to be separated from each other, just one touch, and either of us will die.’
“I’m alive,” Agatha’s voice was cracking as she tried to get on her feet. She tilted her head to check her wings on the back and was sorry when she saw them disappear. “A fairy without wings, ha!” She was deeply hurt about what happened to cause her temperament to rise high.
“Thank heavens, you’re fine.” Delia smiled while looking at her sister on the floor. “Listen, we need to wake up Latina and make her stop the flames. Besides, we’re supposed to wake her up anyway, can you do that?”
“Tss, easy as pie. Watch me,” the fire fairy climbed on Latina’s face, forcefully spreading the sleeping lady’s eyelids. She inhaled an incredible amount of air, not minding the glowing fire around her. Stomping Latina’s eyeballs for quite a few times before she rolled to her earhole and ‘woke her up’. “BRAT! YOUR GODMOTHER HAD LOST HER WINGS! WHEN WILL YOU WAKE UP? MOVE YOUR BUTT AND STOP THE FIRE!”
It was terrible. One thing that Delia hated about Agatha was her voice. It was too high-pitched and annoying even when she was talking normally. How much more when she was screaming?
“LA-TI-NA!! YOUR LOVER IS WAITING!”
Although Delia hated her sister so much that she could dig her hole a thousand times while trying to bury her alive, she was quite satisfied with the outcome. She would be impressed if Latina refused to wake up after the tidal screams that Agatha did.
“Sebastian,” was Latina’s first word the moment she regained consciousness. Her face was filled with tears and her heart was aching so badly. She felt like waking up from a terrible dream. A dream where she was happily living with the person she cared the most and then found out that he was lying all along.
“WHOA! YOU’RE AWAKE! THE FLAMES ARE GETTING WEAKER TOO!”
Latina ignored the fire fairy who kept on screaming. She moved her hand to her womb, feeling a faint life inside and the soft heartbeats seemed louder than any sounds around.
“OH MY! YOU’VE GROWN A BELLY FAT!” Agatha slid down to Latina’s body and bounced on the small bump. “Dear, are you pregnant?” the fire fairy asked with her eyes wide open. “I could hear a heartbeat…. It must be a baby! YOU’RE HAVING A BABY!”
Agatha’s hysterical yells caught Delia’s attention. The latter took clean clothes and gave them to Latina. “You must be exhausted. Get changed first while we prepare the banquet outside,” she brushed Latina’s face and smiled. “If you want to ask anything, let me know.” Her eyes shifted to the visible bump on Latina. She remembered the first time she saw her in the forest, she knew then that the lady was carrying a child. The vampire lord’s child.
Latina nodded her head though she wasn’t sure whom she was talking with. She was surprised when the young lady turned into the old witch she knew.
“Surprised? Don’t be confused. She’s already that old. Her previous appearance was just purely an illusion. Haha,” Agatha laughed while rolling on the floor. She snorted when Delia ignored her and left the room. Her mood suddenly changed when she remembered what happened to her wings. “Hmp! I’m glad that you’re back. Thanks to you, my wings are gone. I can no longer fly,” she mumbled. She waited for Latina’s response. At first, she thought that Latina didn’t say anything because she was putting on a dress. But later, after she was done changing, Latina kept ignoring her.
“Brat! Why are you ignoring me?” She climbed on a high place to level her face with Latina. “Can you hear me?” Latina was just there, standing in a daze, and seemed not to hear whatever she say. “Hmp! LATINA!”
Latina jumped. She put her hand on her chest while breathing heavily. “Fire fairy… You’re here!” she said, unbelievably.
“Grr! Forget about me being here or there. Listen, you’re pregnant, Latina.” Agatha pointed at Latina’s baby bump. “There’s a baby inside that bulging skin. Do you know what it means?”
Latina caressed her tummy. She shook her head ‘no’.
“Unlike humans… you’re expected to give birth anytime. The baby inside you was imbued by either yours or the father’s power and sometimes, both. It’s only a matter of days until the baby absorbs all the power needed for maturation. And the most dangerous part is when giving birth. Babies born as vampires are hard to deal with. If the mother is too weak, she could die. The baby might drink your b***d the moment you give birth.” Agatha looked at Latina’s face. She saw no fear of it. “Aren’t you afraid?”
Latina smiled. “My mother must have gone through the same, yet she didn’t abandon me. She even offered her life to save me,” she softly said. “I’ll go back to where it started. I want to breathe the same air that we once shared. If I can’t face my past, how can I continue to live on?”
Agatha smiled. “That’s my girl,” she cheered for her. “Since you’re planning to go there. You might as well find the thing that saved your mother when she was giving birth to you.”
The night went on in the witch village. Everyone was amazed at how Latina was able to survive the trial. They got wasted on food and drinks. It was a wonderful celebration for welcoming a new life.
“Are you leaving me behind?” Azrene tugged Latina’s dress. The banquet was finally over and Latina decided to leave alone.
“You’re safe here. Delia also said that she could help you live a normal life without getting bothered by your brother’s men. I can’t drag you any further to my problem,” Latina muttered.
“Will you come back?” Azrene asked. This was the thirtieth time she asked her if she would come and get her back.
Latina shook her head. “I’m not sure,” was her answer before turning her back against the rest.
