Immortal Desire
Chapter 51

All employees and patients have gone on their way back to their homes except Marco who was living with the doctor in the hospital. After he witnessed the scene when Sebastian almost killed Claudia when they went to his mansion to deliver the goods that the lord had bought in the capital, Sebastian was sure to alter his memories the moment he visited the hospital.

Marco closed all the windows and doors in the building after locking the gate. His vision started to blur. He was either sleepy or hungry. One thing he was certain about, Marco was exhausted. He strode to his room, choosing sleep over a meal. While on his way, he found the others sitting in the living room. The boy noticed the funny atmosphere among the three and despite planning on retiring to bed early, he took his time and silently watched the scene unfolding before him.

“So, how was it?” Rupert asked, breaking the awkward silence. He shifted his eyes from Claudia who was beside him to Sebastian who was sitting in front of them. “Did you find Latina?” he continued when the vampire lord kept his blank expression.

“Don’t ask him so many questions at the same time. You’re irritating him,” Claudia whispered while pinching Rupert’s side.

“Aw! You’re hurting me, hon.”

“We’re in front of the lord. Don’t call me that,” Claudia glared at the man next to her. “Scooch over. I need space,” she added.

“Come on, hon. We’d already closed the distance between us. There’s no need to be shy about that, and I’m trying not to get too clingy since Sebastian’s here.” Rupert smiled brightly. It was like his face was filled with radiant lights coming from nowhere.

“I’m telling you! The lord is in front of us so why won’t you behave?!” Claudia yelled while moving her hands in the air.

“Hon, put your hands down. You’re making a scene,” Rupert said softly, calming down the irritated lady.

‘Idiots.’ A word that popped up both inside Sebastian’s and Marco’s head. They watched the lovers quarrel over something trivial; Sebastian on the couch while Marco was standing by the door. It took three minutes until the living room went quiet once again.

“Done?” Sebastian asked them while raising his brow. “If not, I’ll spare you another minute.”

Claudia bowed her head in embarrassment, pinching her thigh, and Rupert fixed his disheveled self resulting from her quick attacks. A few seconds later, they went silent, waiting for the lord to continue.

“Prepare yourselves. The beast tribe must be probably on their way to the empire at noon. We should expect enemy attacks earlier in the evening tomorrow,” Sebastian started. “Seth used the potion you made, it worked perfectly.” He drifted his gaze at Claudia who smiled at him while nodding her head, dreamily. “You should prepare a large amount of that potent potion,” he ordered. Claudia was quick to excuse herself and went to make more potions as she was told.

“What about Latina? Did you get her back?” Rupert inquired. Judging by Sebastian’s mood, something more might have happened. His question was answered by a deep sigh.

“She ran off to the east,” the vampire lord said. “I’ve ordered Seth to follow her to ensure her safety. He should be back with news about her in no time,” he added. “You should prepare as well, Rupert. As much as possible, I don’t want to involve humans in this. But the beast tribe got him, he’ll use every possible way to cause terror not only to his enemy but to everyone else.”

“Was it the blue alpha?”

Sebastian nodded his head. “He’s been monitoring the north. He still believes that the demon b***d king will come back. He was out there waiting for one sole reason, to outsmart and kill him. He must have already heard what happened. There was no reason for him to hold back when he had been waiting for the king’s signal to attack all along.”

“I understand. We should inform the others,” Rupert stood up. “We should protect the people of this empire. They had nothing to do with this mess after all.”

“I know. I’ll gather the clan heads together with the elders.”

Rupert nodded before his friend disappeared in front of him. He was left standing there in a daze. “When do you plan to announce your presence?” he suddenly asked, lifting his head and shifting his gaze to the door where Marco quietly eavesdropped.

“I… I’m so sorry,” the boy bent his body several times as he continued to apologize.

The doctor watched him and smiled. “It doesn’t matter. I’ll let it pass in one condition,” his smile turned into a scary one.

“W-what is it?” Marco asked. He regretted why he chose to stay and listen to their conversation instead of going to bed when he was too tired.

“Give me your b***d sample,” Rupert answered. “Just one drop of your b***d is all I need to confirm something,” he added.

Marco heaved a sigh of relief. “You scared me there, Sir. You could have my b***d as much as you want but I’m pretty tired tonight. Can you take it tomorrow instead?”

“No. I don’t need much. It won’t hurt if you let me have a drop right now,” Rupert insisted. He noticed how calm the boy was when he asked for his b***d. ‘If he’s pretending not to be bothered when asked for his b***d sample, then I would say he’s a good actor.’

“Well, then…” Marco extended his arm. “Please be quick,” he pleaded. Rupert took the chance and grabbed a syringe from his office and drew Marco’s b***d. He wished the boy ‘Good night’ when he was done.

“Now let me find out your secret, little boy.” Rupert spent the rest of the night examining Marco’s b***d. The moment he had the results, he was completely bewildered. He doesn’t understand a thing. One thing for sure, the boy was neither human nor vampire.

“Marco? Are you still sleeping?” The doctor rushed to the boy’s room when morning came. He knocked several times but got nothing as a reply. His mind was filled with curious inquiries that only Marco could provide him with the answers. He took the spare key to the room and was welcomed by the empty and cold bed. On top of the bedside table was a piece of paper with a written letter from the person he was looking for.
