Immortal Desire
Chapter 54

In the vast night sky, the faint light coming from the stars could be seen. They twinkled alternately every second as they worshiped the serenity of the moon. It was a night to remember for those who were still awake and had witnessed the rare sight. Nah, not because of the magnificent moon and the stars above. Since on that particular night, they weren’t only the jewels of the sky that sparkled. The distance between the sky and the earth seemed to shorten when bolts of colorful lights were swiftly chasing each other in the air. They weren’t falling stars nor meteors which could only land in their specified direction unless they exploded before hitting the ground, or they split into countless fragments and caused a massive ray of lights everywhere. These unique bolts of lights were only the excess waste of energy, turning to flammable dust and resulting in a colorful fire when colliding with the kindling temperature in the air due to the strong reaction of the earth’s force with the super speed of two creatures, one was rushing on to go somewhere while the other was eager to keep up.

The red flames conquered the night as it gracefully glided in the air. Followed by the bright blue light from behind, the scarlet fire grew stronger to clear the path for the b***d queen.

The vampire knight scratched his head when Latina increased her speed, trying to lose him. He was rendered speechless when the bolt of fire split into two. A dark purple light going to the west and a fiery red to the northeastern land. A place where the gate of the abyssal garden was located.

“Now what?” Seth heaved a sigh and decided to tail the brighter light going to the northeast. He felt an ominous feeling crawling on his skin with the idea of Latina going to that region. The beautiful view ended when the lights faded the moment it reached the mountain peaks along the border of the northern and eastern regions. The area beyond the mountains was foggy. Seth had to use several strong wind spells until the fog disappeared. Several meters away from where he stood, he saw a cave with broken seals. “Is this the gate to the abyssal garden? It looked more like a cave to me,” he murmured while looking closely at the entrance of the cave. He was taking a step forward when he felt a hand grabbing his shoulder.

“Who are you?” Latina’s cold voice echoed. “Why do you keep following me?” She applied force on her grip, breaking his bones.

‘Shit! She’s damn strong,’ Seth thought to himself. Raising both of his hands in surrender, he spoke, “It’s me. Don’t you remember? We met in the capital when you were shopping for clothes.” Latina let go of him. He slowly turned around to face her with his hands still in the air.

‘The heck! I almost forgot that we haven’t had a proper introduction yet,’ Seth sighed. He looked at her in the eyes to show his sincerity. “I’m here to ensure your safety. I don’t mean any harm,” he said, trying to convince her. “I apologize if I caused you any trouble by following you around,” Seth added.

Latina remained unfazed by his words. “What’s your name?” She squinted her eyes as she waited for his response.

“Seth. Seth Lachouves,” the young knight stated. “I’m just like you.”

“Are you really…” she bit her tongue. The word ‘Vampire’ just wouldn’t easily come out for her lips. She felt a sudden cramp in her womb which gave her an excuse to g***n in pain instead of completing her sentence. “Ugh!”

“What’s wrong? Are you hurting somewhere?” Seth rushed to her aid. “I think it’s safer if we get inside that cave first,” he suggested. “It must be just an ordinary cave, so we should be safe in there.”

‘Of course, it is. It was once sacred but after the seals were broken, the fire fairy and the de Llava siblings were no longer there. It was nothing more than an ordinary cave. Only the dark memories remained inside,’ Latina thought as Seth carried her to take shelter in the cave.

The boy used his blue flame to find a flat area where he could put her down. Latina was amazed at his strength for carrying her until she realized that he was a vampire too, she rolled her eyes secretly.

“This should do,” Seth mumbled and put her gently on the smooth and glossy surface. He then started a small bonfire using the dried twigs from the outside, delivered by the wind. “How do you feel?” he asked, eyeing her bulging tummy.

“Better,” Latina replied, shifting her body to the other side. She didn’t want him to know about her pregnancy. Not until she could fully trust him. Her face lit in curiosity when she saw a shining object ahead. Latina stood and strode to find its source.

“Hey, where are you going?” Seth walked behind her, watching her every move while providing light from above. He had several guesses about the changes in Latina’s body. He thought that maybe she ate a lot causing her stomach to bulge and that’s why she was having cramps. It was indigestion. While he convinced himself that it was simply indigestion, the idea that Latina must be pregnant couldn’t be easily neglected. He was aware that the vampire lord had slept with her several times. But it was still a rare case for her to get pregnant with Sebastian’s baby especially when her mate should be no other than him, not the lord. ‘I still have to reconsider the fact that she might be pregnant with Sebastian’s baby. If something happens to her and the future ruler of the tribe inside her womb, Sebastian and the elders will kill me instantly without hearing me out first.’ Seth felt a chill running down his spine as he imagined what would happen to him if he failed to protect Latina.

“Get rid of the fire,” Latina ordered. She stopped in the corner of the cave where she saw the shining thing earlier. Seth flicked his finger and the fire was gone, the only light left was coming from the bonfire he made which was behind them. Latina propped down and started to look for something. “It should be around here,” she mumbled.

“Eh, what are you doing?” Seth asked.

“Shh!” Latina hushed to stop him from talking. She wasn’t expecting something but if she could find her mother’s ring, it’d be great. “It’s here,” she whispered when she saw the shining jewelry. It was a ring made of white Lhaphrite with a tear of the ocean pearls and rare gemstones surrounding its rim. Unlike the red Lhaphrite which could conceal the holder’s power, the white ones could protect its holder from any form of danger. It was said to be an item from the b***d demon king that was given to the de Llava clan.

Latina’s eyes and hands trembled as she wore the ring. She felt the warmth coming from it like a mother’s embrace she longed for.

“Mother, Father… I’m back.”
