The sun was at its highest peak. Coming towards the southern borders of the Vacil empire, hordes of raging beasts were approaching. Led by their respective alphas, the beast warriors lined up in an open field, approximately ten kilometers away from the empire, beyond the mountain ranges, waiting for the signal to attack. While the secret soldiers of the Wyslien kingdom have already begun their sneak attacks earlier than planned. Composed of the best fighters from different packs, under the direct command of the blue alpha, Tyler, they started their mission: To eliminate vampires as much as possible.

For the citizens of the empire, specifically in Buscia city, it was yet another day to live. Without knowing about the upcoming disaster, people started their daily activities. The vendors opened their stalls first thing in the morning, hoping for a bountiful sale for the day. Store owners and other large establishments had their workers ready to prepare the products and services they could offer. Wives and daughters could be seen walking home and some were taking a wagon, with the vegetables, fruits, and meat they bought from the market. Husbands and sons who were enhancing their physical strength by running a few laps around their area before marching to their workplaces were hard not to notice with their loud huffs. Everyone was busy in the capital. Little did they know, so many things happened the night before. Things that sparked the war between two races.

Lurking in the shadows, the b***d tribe who were prepared to battle was waiting. Using the authority granted as the Duke of Vacil, Lorenzo ordered his men to surround the imperial palace. The Emperor had no clue of what was going on after he was controlled by the elder’s spell. As the vampire lord’s order, the royal family and the rest of the human race living in the empire should be protected. It was an urgent order and before they could gather the people for their safety, they had already been swarming in the capital. Only the villagers from different regions were put to sleep and were safely escorted to a safe place.

“AHH!”

A single scream followed by another and Buscia city became a butchering place. Wolves and tigers as well as lions appeared from nowhere, gnawing anyone they crossed the path with.

“Help!”

The panic caused by sudden screams and loud cries was in favor of the intruders. Everyone ran for their own lives, had no time to dawdle, and think about what was going on. One word engraved in their minds: LIVE. After all, no one would willingly want to die. Nah, even in the last second before one’s final breath, a tinge of hope could bloom. A hope to continue living in a way where there was no pain and suffering.

“P-please….” They begged.

“N-no… NO!” They desperately cried.

B***d was everywhere. It was hard to recognize anyone. People around were devouring each other, taking lives, shredding flesh into pieces. Some shifted to beasts and some were monsters with fangs while most victims remained human. Dying a painful death in the fangs and claws of the unknown creatures, seeing their loved ones die in front of them while they were devoured was horrendous. A gruesome sight. Those who ran to save themselves were either rescued or killed while soiling their pants.

“Hahaha! See that? The b***d tribe’s weakness is the people. The humans whom they protected for years for their livestock. Go on, struggle until your last breath. There’s no way to run now,” Tyler said while joyfully watching the crowd of humans and beasts. He was sitting on top of the roof with a jar of sweets in his hand. He planned not to fight but watch the end of the empire.

“This is fun. I can’t wait to join,” Leo muttered and jumped off to cause more havoc and send terror to those who were weak.

The vampire lord, elders, and vampire armies were having an urgent meeting when they heard the screams coming from the outside. “They’re here. Move!” Sebastian ordered his people to do their part. The beast tribe had started their attack, but he still got no news of Latina. ‘Damn!’ He slapped his hands on the table. The elders remained on their seats, waiting for his specific orders.

“My lord,” a messenger from the vampire army approached him. “The knights in-charge of securing the borders have sighted the Prince of Air and your ladyship heading to the northeast region in the dawn,” he informed.

“Northeast,” Sebastian murmured. He signaled the man to leave. “Did you regain your memories?” He asked no one in particular. The war was important but saving Latina who might be bearing his child was more important.

“Cisto! You’re in charge of the capital. I’m going northeast,” he instructed. He waited not for the elder’s reply and went on his way.

Sebastian directly headed to the sacred cave. He knew that Latina will come back to that place once she remembers. His thoughts were interrupted when he caught a whiff of a very familiar alpha’s scent. He was already halfway to his destination, but he could not afford to let the alpha know where he was heading. Sebastian halted and waited for his pursuers. His eyebrows furrowed when the white alpha and his pack paid no attention to him and continued on their way.

“Damn, did he know?” The vampire lord was left with no choice but to chase after them. He tried many ways to stop them; the rolling boulders, flying trees, and curses. The wolves were agile despite their weight. It took him some time to memorize their movement pattern before he was able to hit them with his attacks.

Dark clouds appeared in the clear sky. The alpha ahead felt the sudden change, he stopped and looked above. “I can’t be wrong. This pressure, it’s the b***d demon king.”

Thunder repeatedly roared while the lightning danced with its beat. A befitting welcome for the birth of a new ruler.
