It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 101
“Thank you, Lowell,” Lucia said as she got into the car. Of all the thousands of words she wanted to say to him, these were the only ones that came out of her mouth.
Lowell raised his head and looked at her carefully. He smiled, then returned his attention to the steering wheel. He started the engine and silently drove Lucia back to S City. Lucia doesn’t say a word either. She was so tired that she finally fell asleep.
When the smooth, forward momentum of the car stopped, Lucia finally woke up. She looked out the window sleepily, only to find that they were not at the gates of the villa community. Confused, she looked at Lowell.
“I’ll take you back after dinner,” Lowell said simply.
Having said that, he got out of the car. Lucia followed suit. Lowell took a few steps with Lucia behind. Lucia’s mind was still a little foggy from sleep and she felt dizzy. It was like she was trying to think through cotton wool and walk on clouds.
Lowell glanced over his shoulder at him. He frowned and hung back until she caught up with him. Then he held out his hand. Lucia looked at her outstretched hand and hesitated. She looked at him, then back at his hand. Slowly, she raised her hand and placed it on his palm. His fingers were cold against his skin, only deepening his frown. “I have to get Reggie to look at it again. His hands shouldn’t be this cold, Lowell thought.
He led Lucia into the restaurant and towards the private room he had reserved for them. Lucia continued to look around as they walked, unable to shake the feeling that she was being watched. But she didn’t see anything unusual. Maybe I’m too sensitive, she thought.
“What’s wrong?” Lowell asked, lowering his head to speak softly to her.
“Nothing really. I just feel like I’m being watched. It could be a mind trick. I think my brain is still waking up after all the sleeping,” Lucia said honestly.
Lowell’s eyes flashed for a moment, but they quickly returned to normal. He also glanced around, just to make sure. He didn’t see anything unusual either. He tightened his grip on Lucia’s hand and pulled her into the private room.
Lucia took off her coat and placed it on the back of her chair. She sat down and took the tea that the waiter offered her. She sipped it, enjoying the feeling of the hot liquid warming her from the inside out. After a while, she told Lowell she was going to the bathroom quickly. Lowell gave a small nod, then went back to reading the menu. Lucia left the private room and headed to the nearest restroom. She didn’t stay there long, and when she came out, she was caught off guard by an unfamiliar voice.
“Mrs. Evans…”
Lucia ignored him and continued walking. But the voice called him again. This time, Lucia turned around to see who it was. There weren’t many people who called him that.
“You…” Lucia said, facing the man who was trying to get her attention. She was instantly struck by how familiar he looked. She just couldn’t remember where she last saw him.
“Moore Song,” the man said, introducing himself before she could ask any questions.
Then she remembered who he was; he was the managing director of the Evans Group. She had seen him at the first Evans group party she had attended. But she didn’t understand why he stopped her.
“Are you having dinner with your friend?” Moore asked casually.
He knew the CEO had gone on a business trip last month. This could only mean that the man Lucia was currently dating was her friend. It made sense.
“Yes. Are you also here having dinner with a friend?” Lucia asked politely.
“Actually, I’m having dinner with a client. I won’t bother you further, Mrs. Evans,” Moore said and left before Lucia could say anything.
Lucia stared at Moore’s retreating figure in a daze. The strangers knew nothing about her and Malcolm’s relationship. It made no sense that Moore thought she was having dinner with a friend, and not Malcolm. She stood where she was, staring into nothingness as she tried to figure out how Moore knew. Then she had an idea; Malcolm must be overseas.
Lucia sneered. She shook her head and hurried to the private room. By the time she returned, Lowell had already ordered their food. The waiter was preparing side dishes for them.
Lucia was silent as she sat down. And she was silent for quite a while. She couldn’t get over what Moore had said; It really bothered her. Lowell didn’t ask any questions. He just pushed Lucia’s food in front of her and encouraged her to eat. He continued to serve food on her plate until she had eaten all of the main course. When she finally stopped eating, she placed a hand on her distended stomach and slumped into the chair.
Kathryn and Lowell were going to be the reason she lost her figure. If things continued like this, Lucia would definitely start gaining weight. She let out a contented burp, then forced herself to sit up. She raised her head to look into Lowell’s loving eyes.
“Lucia, whatever happens, I want you to know that you’re safe with me,” Lowell said suddenly, looking at her with such sincerity that it seemed like he was making a promise.
“Lowell…” Lucia whispered; she didn’t know what else to say.
“Let’s go. I’ll take you home. Don’t forget to take your pills,” Lowell said calmly as he stood up.
“I will not do it.” Lucia got up too.
Lowell stopped his car at an intersection near the gates and turned off the engine. Lucia quickly put on her coat and scarf before thanking him and getting out of the car. In a slow and quiet manner, she walked towards the gates of the community. Lucia loved this quiet walk. There was no noise or cars passing by. There were only the streetlights and the occasional pedestrian. The walk gave him a good opportunity to either clear his thoughts or reflect on things that had happened during the day.
Back at the villa, Catherine was waiting for him. She glanced at the clock on the wall to check the time; It was after seven o’clock and Lucia still hadn’t come home. Obviously she wasn’t going to be in time for dinner. Having lived together for a little while now, Kathryn and Lucia had gained an understanding of each other’s lifestyle. They don’t bicker like the other roommates. Until now, they lived in perfect harmony.
Kathryn ate dinner alone in front of the TV. Then the doorbell rings. Catherine ignored him. She didn’t think it was hers. Then it rang again and again. It was only after her visitor pressed it several times that she realized it was her doorbell. “Who could it be at this time?” She looked at the clock again. “Maybe someone had the wrong house.” No, it can’t be. Only residents can enter the community. Maybe it’s him !
Kathryn was suddenly overcome by a flood of excitement. She quickly put down her bowl and chopsticks and hurried to open the door. Happily, she threw the door open, then froze. For a long moment, all she could do was stare blankly at her visitor.
It was Malcolm. ‘Oh my God… What is he doing here? Kathryn pointed a shaking finger at Malcolm, still unable to say anything. She blinked desperately, trying to make sure she didn’t see anything. But it was him. ‘Oh my God… I thought Lucia said they weren’t in contact anymore. What the hell is he doing here? And how does he know that Lucia is staying here?
Malcolm frowned and stared silently at the shocked girl in front of him. If his memory served him well, it was Catherine. When he got off the plane, he told his driver he didn’t want to go back to his apartment. Instead, he drove himself here. He didn’t tell anyone where he was going; not even Enoch. He wanted to join Lucia as quickly as possible.
But now that he was standing here, things were clearly not what he had expected them to be.
“Where is Lucy?” Malcolm asked coldly.
“Well…Lucia isn’t here,” Catherine said instinctively, surprised by her sudden question.
Malcolm looked like some sort of predator standing in the night. He almost blended into the darkness in his black suit. Catherine shivered as she looking at him. Just by being near her, she could feel his cold and domineering aura. Now that he was standing in front of her, Catherine couldn’t help but admire Lucia for living with a man like that “She’s so brave.
“She’s not here?” Malcolm raised his eyebrows and looked down at his watch.
“She hasn’t come back yet. How did you know she was staying here? » asked Catherine curiously.
“You know, you’ll have to stay outside if you want to wait for him. I’m the only one home. I can’t let a man in.” Kathryn had a good idea of what he had in mind.
Malcolm stared at Kathryn a moment longer, then turned and disappeared into the night. Kathryn placed a hand on his chest, feeling his heart beating beneath her fingers. She had never seen a man with such cruel eyes. He didn’t need to speak to scare her.
Kathryn hurriedly closed the door and entered. She took her phone and sent a message to Lucia, telling her what had happened. After sending the text, she paused with her fingers hovering over her phone screen. Then she opened her contacts and dialed a very familiar number.
“Hello, it’s me,” Kathryn said excitedly when the call was picked up.
“Catherine? What’s up?” asked the man in surprise.
“Malcolm just came here looking for Lucia,” Kathryn said, then told him the whole story of what happened.
“I see,” the man said in a calm voice.
Then he hung up. Kathryn looked down at her phone, a bitter smile spreading across her lips. She put her phone away and returned to the dining table. As she sat down and picked up her bowl of cold food, she was hit by a wave of loneliness. As she ate the remains of her dinner, tears ran down her cheeks.
Lucia stopped at the gates of the villa community. She took out her access card and was about to swipe it when someone grabbed her wrist. Before she could react, she was pulled into a strong pair of arms. She opened her mouth to scream, but the sound was cut off by a k**s. Lucia recognized the smell of seawater. She was so dazed that she was too slow to stop Malcolm from slipping his tongue into her mouth and entwining it with his.
” Let me go ! » Lucia cried out as her head cleared. She pressed her hands against his chest and pushed him away.
Malcolm released her obediently, but kept a firm grip on her hand. Lucia tried to break his grip, but it wasn’t strong enough.
She stopped struggling and simply stared at the man who had caused her such terrible grief. He disappeared from her life just like that, and now he was back. “Does he think I’m some kind of pet?” » When the mood took him and he remembered her, he would come and pay attention to her and play with her. But when he didn’t need her, he simply forgot about her. Lucia’s expression was a tangle of mixed emotions.
“You have more courage, wildcat,” Malcolm said with a smile.
“It has nothing to do with you. Nothing. Our relationship is over,” Lucia retorted.
“Oh? Is that true? This has nothing to do with me?” Malcolm frowned, clearly unhappy with her words.
“Should I call you back then?” You abandoned me first. It was your family who decided my fate. An infertile woman is worthless to your family,” Lucia spat venomously, reopening the wound that still bled in her heart.
She hated him. She hated everything about him. She hated how indifferent he was, how he never shared his thoughts with her, his temper… Worst of all, she hated the way he thought he could just show up here after hurting her so badly. “It doesn’t matter if you’re worthless to
my family. You are worth something to me,” Malcolm said.
“Huh? I’m worth something to you? How could I be worth anything to someone who literally had me at their disposal? Do you think I’m a masochist?” Lucia said sarcastically.
“Wildcat, I think a month is enough,” Malcolm said sharply.
“What do you mean?” Lucia asked, feeling a sort of tension rising in the air.
Malcolm smiled and said nothing. Before she knew what was happening, bodyguards came out of the shadows and surrounded her. No matter how much Lucia struggled, they managed to get her into Malcolm’s car and close the door. Malcolm looked at her calmly, and once she was safely in the car, he slid into the driver’s seat.
He glanced at Lucia, studied her furious face, then turned to look forward. He started the car and drove them towards their apartment. Lucia struggled for a while, but soon realized that her efforts were in earnest. She kept quiet and just stared daggers at the back of Malcolm’s head.
