It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 104
Reporters gathered outside the villa community. Due to strict rules imposed by the community leadership, they were unable to enter. But that didn’t stop them from setting up their tripods and camera stands facing the grills. They waited patiently, prepared for the moment they awaited. This kind of love story was almost as sensational as Princess Diana’s divorce. They were all curious as to why Lucia would cheat on a husband as rich as Malcolm.
Malcolm was lucky in this regard; no one would have the courage to question him. If they did, they were sure they would earn themselves a one-way ticket to hell. It was humiliating for such a prestigious man to be deceived like that.
But the hours passed and still, there was no activity at the villa community. The journalists who had been there since early that morning were starting to get annoyed. Suddenly, the stagnant atmosphere of waiting was broken by the sound of squealing brakes and skidding tires on the road. Everyone turned around to see what was happening.
A black Land Rover stopped on the sidewalk. Some of the more observant journalists recognized it as Malcolm’s car. They all stayed where they were; no one dared to approach him. Malcolm got out of the car and straightened his jacket. His eyes were shielded by a pair of sunglasses, making his usually unreadable face even more cryptic. He walked confidently towards the doors. The reports parted in front of him, making his path much easier.
It was only when Malcolm disappeared from their sight that someone shyly called “Mr. Evans”, but they got no response. The journalists all looked at each other knowingly. Judging by Malcolm’s expression, yesterday’s scandalous report was true.
At the moment, Lucia couldn’t stand being inside the villa. She stayed in the yard. Although the winter sun beat down on her body, warming her skin, Lucia still felt cold. It was the first time she felt this way about the situation she now had to face. Kathryn looked at Lucia through the window. She just shook her head and walked back into the kitchen.
Lucia’s sullen silence was broken by a sudden cold aura. A tall and slender figure appeared. Lucia didn’t want to believe her first thought. She felt her heart race as the shadow fell over her. She didn’t want to believe herself, but when she looked up, her fears were confirmed. It was Malcolm.
There was no teasing smile on his face, only darkness and sadness. Lucia shivered and took a step back.
“Do you want to escape? Hmm?” Malcolm said in a cold tone.
“Why would I want to escape?” Lucia said stubbornly and stopped short.
“Are you going to come with me? Or are you going to wait for the bodyguards to take you away? ” Malcolm asked, raising an eyebrow.
Lucia ignored him and left the villa. Malcolm clenched his jaw and followed her. Kathryn looked out the window again when she heard their voices. She arrived just in time to see them leave. She was confused for a moment, but the feeling quickly disappeared.
They followed the path through the villa community; Lucia walking in front with Malcolm behind her. Just before they reached the doors, Malcolm stopped. Lucia turned her head away from him and continued to advance stubbornly. Malcolm reached out and took her head. Lucia immediately tried to free herself.
“Why do you want to put on an act in front of them? » Lucia said sarcastically.
Malcolm’s eyes darkened with anger, making his cold face even colder than before. He remained silent and passed her, moving forward silently. Lucia felt tears welling up in her eyes. She looked away from them and followed him.
As soon as they walked through the doors, enthusiastic journalists crowded around them. They started shouting questions, sticking their microphones in Lucia’s face, waiting for a response. Malcolm stuffed his hands in his pockets and looked at them coldly. The journalists did not ask any questions. They asked for everything, no matter how brutal. But Lucie remained silent. Eventually the questions stopped and everyone waited for Lucia to speak.
“Are you all really that bored?” Do you really have nothing better to do than stick your nose in other people’s private affairs? Does it entertain you to feed your dirty minds and satisfy the public’s horrible curiosity? Why don’t you go home and make love on your own bed? Take pictures while you’re at it and stick them all over the front of the newspapers! Make your own crazy, sensational headlines! I swear, if I ever see any of you again…”
Lucia screamed at the top of her lungs. But she kept silent, choked by the disgust she felt towards the bloodthirsty journalists. She hated their insatiable thirst for gossip. She hated feeling so helpless. But most of all, she hated the fact that Malcolm was so indifferent to the situation that he didn’t seem to care at all. Her turmoil of emotions made her unable to think. She could not control her actions and screamed and screamed at the reporters around her.
The journalists jumped at the tone of his voice. For once, they were silent. Malcolm continued to calmly walk towards the car. He spared Lucia a single glance before moving to the driver’s side. Lucia managed to shake off the group of journalists who were still timidly following her. She gave them a cold, ugly look as she reached the car.
“Oh my God… She’s horrible. For a second I thought she possessed her.” One of the reporters placed his hand on his beating heart, trying to calm it. Lucia’s sudden outburst had really scared him.
Lucia’s outburst, Malcolm’s indifference and their obvious lack of affection in public were enough for the journalists to come up with a convincing story. Without a doubt, the next day’s headlines would be even more shocking.
Malcolm pressed his foot on the accelerator and the car sped down the roads of S City. Every time there was a railroad crossing or a traffic light, the car would come to a screeching halt before Malcolm stepped on the gas and drove back down the road. Lucia turned pale and was overcome by the urge to vomit. But she refused to let Malcolm see her fear. She took a deep breath and held on to the railing above her head.
Finally, their mad dash through the streets ended in the underground parking lot of the apartment complex. The car had barely stopped when Lucia opened the door and tumbled against one of the pillars, out of breath. Slowly, the writhing feeling in his chest dissipated.
Malcolm slammed the car door and walked towards Lucia. He stared at her coldly, waiting until she had rested enough to follow him to the elevator. They silently took the elevator up to the top floor. When he stopped and the doors opened, they headed towards the apartment.
Malcolm opened the door and the two headed inside. The door had barely closed when Malcolm grabbed Lucia and forcibly threw her onto the couch. She bounced, hitting the fabric, then slumped heavily against the cushions.
“Wildcat, will you explain the current situation to me?” Malcolm said in a voice so dangerous he sounded like an emissary from hell.
“I thought the paper explained everything pretty clearly. What else do you want me to explain?” Lucia said calmly, although her twisted anger was evident.
“Who is he?” Malcolm asked coldly.
“It has nothing to do with you,” Lucia retorted.
Malcolm approached her slowly, like a predator stalking its prey. Lucia looked at him without fear. Her eyes were hard, silently challenging him. But no matter how hard she tried to hide her nerves, her sticky palms betrayed her.
“Oh, wildcat… Do you really think I won’t know who he is?” Malcolm said in a threatening tone.
Lucie remained silent. She knew the Evans family was powerful, but she doubted they could control everything. And while she didn’t know Lowell’s true identity, she knew enough about him to guess that he wasn’t someone Malcolm could easily push around.
“Do what you want,” Lucia said clearly.
Her indifferent attitude provoked Malcolm in a way he couldn’t describe, but more than that, he took it as grudging acceptance. She looked at her with a dangerous expression, her body tense as if ready to lunge at her. Lucia was no longer afraid of him. In fact, she didn’t care.
“So you admit it then?” Malcolm said, moving closer to her.
“Yes, I admit it. He and I are together. In a relationship. And guess what? We slept together, Lucia said bravely as she stood up.
Her heart was cold. There was no warmth left for him. Malcolm’s eyes narrowed even more, staring at her as if he wanted to rip her heart out of her chest, hold it in his palm and see how dark it had become.
“Why should I keep myself to yourself? You and Renée were in a pretty passionate relationship, weren’t you? Why should I be chaste? Your family doesn’t need an infertile woman like me. Your family is powerful enough to find you a suitable wife. A perfect woman with the right date of birth who will mother an heir for you. So why can’t I live the way I want? Why can’t I chase away the love I found and enjoy my life? What’s the point of keeping me around if I’m of no use to you?” Lucia cried out as all her pent up emotions finally burst out. “
I’m nothing more than a pet to you! pet that won’t be tamed! If I lay down and listened to every command you gave me, would I still be as interesting? The answer is no. You would lose interest in me just like that. You don’t have heart, Malcolm. You lost him a long, long time ago. You don’t know how to love someone. The only person you love is yourself. The only reason you won’t leave me not leave, it’s because you can’t stand the fact that there are women who would dare to stand up to you! We’ve already discussed all this. Today is the last time you see me. I’m withdrawing from your life. You’ll never know if I live or die, because I’ll never be involved with you again,” Lucia said coldly, promising that to herself and Malcolm. Malcolm’s narrowed eyes flashed with cold light. There was the hint of an unknown emotion in Lucia’s voice.
“How did you know about Renee?” Malcolm asked, ignoring everything she had said. Lucia was a proud woman. He knew she would never sleep with another man until she ended her previous relationship. They may have shared some intimacy, like kissing and touching, but he knew she would cling to his morals until the very end. He didn’t know why he had such confidence in her. “Am I trying to alleviate my own discomfort? »
Malcolm’s dark eyes were filled with complex and twisted emotions. He remained silent, waiting for her to respond.
Lucie burst out laughing. She no longer looked around frantically. She stared at him with the greatest confidence.
“When she showed up at that party, I saw the look on your face. But then I brushed it off. Everyone has a past. I didn’t care what happened between you two . But shortly after leaving the apartment, I received a package containing photos of the two of you. Photos of such intimacy that I have never had of you. You have never smiled at me like in these photos. Your eyes have never sparkled like this. The man in these photos was a stranger to me. All I have is a heartless beast! A shell of what you once were. I’m starting to think you’re worse than I first thought.
Then I saw you two in a private room at the private club. You didn’t push her away when she sat on your lap. She kissed you and you didn’t refuse. You haven’t been loyal to me? Why should I be loyal after seeing that?”
Lucia said, pouring out all the sorrow and unhappiness she had kept bottled up for so long. Her heart sank at the mere memory of what she had seen, and at the memory of what she had discovered about Renee and Malcolm’s past. Then Malcolm had simply disappeared. She was then on the verge of a nervous breakdown. It was as if everything in his life had been ripped away from him in the space of a few days. She had descended into a dark, cold hole of depression.
But it wasn’t Malcolm who removed it. It was Lowell; the man who had only offered her tender and sincere love.
Malcolm just listened to Lucia in silence. He never thought Lucia would be in the club that day. He wondered if she had been with the man in the photo. Suddenly he was intensely jealous.
“Let’s end this now. I’m so tired,” Lucia said weakly. Now that she had said everything she wanted to say, it was as if her body was drained of all its vitality. “Don’t even think about
it “Don’t,” Malcolm said coldly.
“Then I’ll cheat on you again and again,” Lucia said warningly.
“Wildcat… Don’t provoke me,” Malcolm threatened, moving closer to her.
Lucia tensed, ready to defend. But it was useless.
