It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 208
Lucia chaired the afternoon meeting. The sudden vibration of her phone made her frown slightly. Seeing that it was Leila who was calling, she quickly answered the phone. After hearing what Leila said on the phone, Lucia quickly handed over the work to Johnny. Under the astonished looks of the crowd, she left the meeting room without looking back. Before the driver could pick her up, she called a taxi and rushed to the villa.
When the taxi arrived at the gate of the villa community, Lucia paid the fare and ran like crazy to the villa. Leila paced anxiously back and forth in the house. She had just received a phone call from the kindergarten teacher, saying that Kathy was not with them when the children got off the school bus. Leila was almost scared to death. Seeing Lucia appear in the house, Leila quickly approached her, with undisguised guilt in her eyes.
“Mrs. Lucie…I’m sorry,” Leila said sadly.
“Leila, calm down first. Tell me what happened today.” Lucia tried to calm Leila and herself.
Leila told Lucia in detail what had happened that morning. Lucie listened attentively. Kathy was a smart child. She would never be stupid enough to go with a stranger. Now that Kathy had gotten on the school bus but was not on the school bus when it arrived at kindergarten, Lucia could be sure that Kathy had gotten off the school bus by herself. She knew that Kathy was extremely curious about this strange town. But because she was high-profile, she didn’t want her children to get involved in gossip for no reason, and so she restricted their movements. Otherwise, what happened today would not have happened.
“Ms. Lucia, should we call the police?” Leila could only think of asking the police for help.
“No. There’s no point in calling the police. If there really is something wrong, calling the police will only alert the enemy.” Lucia denied Leila’s suggestion without hesitation.
She walked calmly around the room. Suddenly, she picked up her phone and quickly found Zack’s number. Lucia knew that Zack hadn’t left Strinas yet. It would be much more effective and efficient to ask her for help than to be anxious but unable to do anything herself. Of course, Lucia knew there was a better choice than Zack, but she wouldn’t take such a risk, not at all.
“Lucia, what’s wrong?” » It didn’t take long for the phone to be connected,
“Kathy is missing. Can you help me find it? She had to escape alone. But she is not familiar with here. I’m afraid something bad will happen.” Lucia briefly told Zack what had happened.
“Lucie, don’t worry. I’ll try my best. I’ll call you as soon as I have an “hint,” Zack agreed without hesitation.
Lucia hung up the phone and quietly waited for news from Zack. Zack digested the information Lucia had given him. Lucia’s children were fraternal twins. When he looked at Kathy, he really thought that “She was the daughter of Lucia and a Western man. But when he saw Lowe, he subconsciously thought he was Malcolm’s copy. He bet the twins were definitely Malcolm’s children. Because Malcolm had mixed b***d, although there were no obvious signs. However, in terms of genetics, there was a high probability of inheritance between generations.
After thinking for a while, Zack ordered his subordinates to search for Kathy with all their might. But Strinas was not a small town. It was difficult to find one person in a vast sea of people. Additionally, the Young family’s business had been moved overseas. It was really embarrassing for him to find Kathy so quickly.
Looking at his phone on the table, Zack picked it up and unconsciously dialed Malcolm’s number. If there was nothing wrong with Kathy, then everything would be fine. But if something bad happened to Kathy… Zack couldn’t imagine what Lucia would be like. He closed his eyes and made up his mind, dialing the familiar number, which he rarely dialed. Then he waited quietly for Malcolm to respond.
During this time, Malcolm drove the car regularly on the road. For no reason, Kathy hummed. Malcolm looked at her, only to find that she had adjusted to a more comfortable posture and had gone back to sleep. He smiled softly and stroked her hair. His eyes were full of tenderness. Suddenly his phone on the shelf rang. He quickly picked up the phone, afraid of waking up the sleeping Kathy, quietly waiting for the person on the other end to take the initiative to speak.
“Malcolm?” Zack, who hadn’t heard a sound for a long time, said into the phone in confusion.
“What’s new?” Malcolm replied indifferently.
“I want you to help me find someone.” Without hesitation, Zack expressed his goal.
Without saying anything more, Malcolm quietly listened as Zack told him who he wanted to look for. Malcolm was a little curious as to which person could get Zack to call him in person for help. Hearing Zack’s description of the person he wanted to search for, Malcolm frowned more and more. He looked at the sleeping Kathy and was silent for a long moment.
“Are you listening?” Zack said anxiously on the other end of the line.
“What is your relationship with her?” Malcolm asked directly.
This time, it was Zack who remained silent. Suddenly, the atmosphere freezes. Zack didn’t know how to answer Malcolm’s question. But now that Kathy had disappeared for no reason in Strinas, neither the police nor the Dresse group, which was far away, could find her unharmed.
The only one who could do that was Malcolm. Lucia’s anxious tone still hovered in Zack’s mind, but he didn’t know how to explain their relationship with Malcolm.
“She has nothing to do with me. She has something to do with Lucia,” Zack said euphemistically after thinking for a long time.
“What did you say?” Malcolm raised his voice unconsciously, and there was obvious astonishment in his tone.
“She’s Lucia’s daughter.” Zack didn’t hide anything but told her about the relationship between Kathy and Lucia.
“You knew it?” There was anger and other unknown emotions in Malcolm’s voice. He looked at the sleeping Kathy with a very complicated expression in his eyes.
“No, I didn’t know until Lucia started dating her. Lucia’s disappearance is making Lucia anxious. Please,” Zack said sincerely.
He told Malcolm about Lucia and Kathy’s relationship, but he didn’t tell him his guess. Thinking about what Lucia had endured alone over the past five years, and the guilt and responsibilities she had shouldered, Zack wouldn’t tell her easily. The spectators saw more clearly than the players. Malcolm had to solve the mystery on his own. Zack already felt extremely guilty towards Lucia by telling Malcolm about his relationship with Kathy. But if he didn’t tell him, he was sure Malcolm would hang up the phone straight away.
This cold-blooded and ruthless man wouldn’t care about anything that had nothing to do with Lucia.
“She’s here. I’m taking her home now,” Malcolm said lightly.
“What did you say?” Now the one who was surprised was Zack.
Ignoring him, Malcolm hung up the phone . He was still driving quietly, but out of the corner of his eye he was looking at Kathy. She said her name was Kathy. Lucia had always been nostalgic. If Kathryn had replaced Lucia before the explosion, Lucia would remember her whole life. So it made sense that Lucia named her daughter Kathryn. And Kathy had said that her mother also had a crystal cat. It must be the black crystal cat in Lucia’s hand.
The The bright look on Kathy’s face was exactly the same as Lucia’s. She smiled heartlessly, calmly at such a young age, and she was enthusiastic and not afraid of strangers… Malcolm finally understood why he loved Kathy the first time he saw her. It was because her features were full of the shadow of Lucia he was looking for.
No wonder he saw Lucia and Sophia getting into the car in front of the restaurant that evening. It turned out that they had brushed against each other. He didn’t meet Lucia but met her daughter.
Malcolm looked at Kathy’s curly brown hair and closed eyes. He knew that the blue eyes were definitely not of Asian lineage. Suddenly, Malcolm’s eyes darkened slightly. Is she Lowell’s daughter? She had the same hair and eye colors as Lowell, which made Malcolm’s heart ache. But now he no longer had the right to blame Lucia. Now she had inherited Lowell’s property and given birth to Lowell’s child.
Suddenly, a glimmer of light crossed Malcolm’s eyes. There was hope on his face. Maybe everything was still possible. Looking at Kathy’s sleeping face, Malcolm removed his gaze and focused on driving. Sweat dripped from his palms and soaked the steering wheel. The rare nervousness spread through every cell of his body.
He had never been afraid of anything, but now he was afraid of hearing the answer he didn’t want from Lucia. When the car stopped in front of the villa, Lucia, who had been waiting anxiously in the house, ran out when she heard the sound of the car. When the familiar car came into view, she frowned slightly, and there was confusion in her eyes. But now, she wasn’t in the mood to worry about anything else. She just wanted Kathy to come back safe.
However, when the car door was opened, Malcolm got out of the car and walked to the back seat. When he took Kathy out of the back seat, Lucia’s face turned pale in an instant. After looking at her, Malcolm walked in with Kathy in his arms. Leila, who had been praying for Kathy in the house, breathed a long sigh of relief when she saw the little girl. She picked up the sleeping Kathy from Malcolm and took her back to her room.
Only Lucia and Malcolm remained in the living room. Lucia unconsciously avoided eye contact with Malcolm, but he did not allow her to do so. He advanced towards her step by step, while Lucia backed away. When she finally had nowhere to escape, she was held in Malcolm’s arms.
The atmosphere was a little heavy, and the air around seemed frozen. Deadly silence was the best description of the moment.
