It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 99
Lucia woke up early in the morning, even before the first rays of sunlight entered the room. It was winter, and sunlight during the day would be scarce. Lucia drew the curtains just in time to see the sun rise.
Yesterday, she had received a timely injection which brought down her fever. After a night’s rest, she felt much better, but she was still a little tired. Lucia went into the bathroom, washed her face and readjusted her clothes. She could take a shower and tidy up after returning to the villa. Once she was finished, Lucia opened the bedroom door and walked out.
Unexpectedly, Lowell was already in the living room. It seemed he got up even earlier than her. Seeing that he was wearing casual sports clothes, Lucia guessed that he was going out to exercise. Smiling at her in greeting, Lowell usually handed Lucia a cup of hot peanut soup. Lucia took it with a grateful smile and drank it slowly. Neither of them mentioned what happened last night.
“I’ll take you back to the villa after breakfast.” You should rest well. Don’t make me worry about you, Lowell said softly. His tone was reluctant, as if he didn’t want to let her go.
“Okay,” Lucia replied simply.
“These are the pills prescribed by the doctor. I have marked when and how you should take them. Remember to follow this,” Lowell said carefully, handing him a paper bag.
“All right.” Lucia took the paper bag without meeting Lowell’s eyes.
Noticing this, Lowell couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. Lucia could be very stubborn at times. When something embarrassing happened, she would avoid talking about it instead of talking about it or making light of the situation, which would make the other person even more embarrassed.
Lowell took Lucia’s hand and led her to the dining room, where he pulled out a chair for her to sit. The servant quickly set the table and served breakfast in front of Lucia. Lucia looked up and smiled at Lowell. Then she picked up the bowl and chopsticks and started eating the traditional breakfast, which was her favorite.
After they finished eating, Lowell took Lucia back to the villa district. Just before getting out of the car, Lucia was stopped by Lowell. She stopped and turned to him with confusion in her eyes.
“Lucia, you can come see me anytime, whether you’re happy or sad,” Lowell said softly, looking into her eyes.
“All right.
” Lucia always insisted on giving simple answers. “Go ahead. I’ll call you tonight. Take a good rest,” Lowell gave him a gentle smile.
“Thank you, Lowell. » Lucia’s voice was calm, but filled with emotion. His gaze lingered on Lowell for a moment before he got out of the car and left.
When Lucia arrived at the villa, Kathryn looked at her curiously. But when she saw how pale Lucia’s face was, she forgot all the questions that were running through her head, and worry filled her eyes instead.
“Lucie, what’s wrong?” » Catherine asked worriedly.
“Nothing, I’m fine. I’m just going upstairs to rest, Lucia said, waving her hands to tell Catherine not to worry.
“Okay. By the way, Lucia, you left your phone on the couch yesterday,” Kathryn said, handing Lucia her phone.
“THANKS.” Lucia just took the phone with a weak smile, before heading upstairs. Watching her back away, Kathryn frowned in confusion. — She was fine yesterday. What happened?’ It suddenly occurred to Catherine that she had forgotten to tell Lucia that she had received a call from Malcolm. ‘Ah forget it. She’ll see the missed call when she checks her phone,” Catherine thought before going about her business.
After entering her room, Lucia took a shower, changed into new clothes, took the prescribed tablets and fell asleep. She didn’t know why there wasn’t another bed as comfortable as the one in the villa. It was the only place where she could sleep soundly.
In Alexander, Egypt
Listening to his subordinate’s report, Malcolm unconsciously patted the table in front of him, and a glimmer of insight flashed across his eyes. Her long eyelashes fell over her piercing eyes. At this moment, he looked like an elegant cheetah, carefully considering which direction his prey would take.
“Sir, after our supplies arrived, all attacks stopped at once. It was exactly what Antonio had said, that they were just buying time. And there is no more information on Tandy. And we can’t hack into the mercenaries’ intelligence network either, in case they find out and it causes a backlash. » Finn gave a careful analysis of the situation.
“And the goods?” » asked Malcolm coldly.
“They will be delivered without a hitch tomorrow, three days before the scheduled date. They undergo the final stage of refining purity,” Byron replied.
“Byron, tomorrow you will be responsible for the safe delivery of the goods to Antonio. Don’t make any mistakes,” Malcolm ordered in a low voice.
“Yes, sir,” Byron replied respectfully.
“Finn, stop investigating the mercenaries. If they don’t want us to find clues, we won’t. Looking into it is a waste of time,” Malcolm said casually, turning to Finn.
“Yes, sir,” Finn replied.
After thinking for a moment, Malcolm made a video call. Soon Enoch’s face appeared on the screen. Enoch squinted at his own phone screen in confusion. “Why is Malcolm’s video calling me in the middle of the night? »
“What happened?” he asked worriedly.
“What happened to the stocks?” » Malcolm asked, glancing at him.
“It seems that stock buying gradually subsided after you left for Egypt. Nothing new happened after that. Everything is back to normal,” Enoch replied with a frown.
Hearing this, Malcolm was lost in thought. It seemed that the mystery was slowly beginning to unravel. Someone had made a small move on Evans Group in order to divert his attention there, so that he would ignore the situation in Egypt.
But after his arrival in Egypt, he found that the problem was not as complicated as they had thought. It was a bit exaggerated. Although the problem appeared serious on the surface, no huge damage had been done.
Who the hell would play such a game?
“Where is this man? » Malcolm asked after a moment.
“That’s the thing, he kept quiet. It’s very strange,” Enoch said with a shrug.
“Maybe he’s gearing up for a bigger plan. The question is, when will he take action? Or is this all part of his plan? Could he be behind everything just to distract me? Why did he use mercenaries instead of his dark force?
Is this really the case?’ Thinking of all this, Malcolm’s eyes darkened.
“Byron, book me a return ticket for the day after tomorrow,” Malcolm ordered, glancing at Byron.
“Yes sir.” Byron left the room to get everything ready.
“Malcolm, are you coming back the day after tomorrow? Have you finished handling the case in Egypt? » asked Enoch in surprise. He hadn’t expected things to go so well in Egypt.
“Yes. But don’t let anyone else know,” Malcolm said coldly.
Enoch nodded, knowing exactly what Malcolm meant. Although he didn’t know exactly what Malcolm was planning, he knew that Malcolm must have had a reason for saying this.
“Malcolm, I forgot to tell you something,” Enoch said, suddenly remembering that he had not yet informed Malcolm of what was happening with Lucia.
“What is this?” Malcolm asked, pressing his lips into a thin line.
“Lucia has started working again, but she has not returned to DZ Media. Instead, she is taking on independent projects through Era Global Planning,” Enoch explained. “Will she
handle them on her own?” Malcolm asked with a frown.
“She probably has planners working with her. Era Global Planning is solely responsible for assigning tasks and projects. As for how and where the planners meet, the company doesn’t care at all. And speaking of which, Lucia stole a project from our group…” There was a hint of resentment in Enoch’s voice as he said that. “Hmm?
” Malcolm hinted for Enoch to continue.
When Enoch informed him of the general situation, Malcolm’s lips curled into a slight smile. “Wildcat, it seems that you have regained your former vitality.” But soon, his eyes darkened. He still didn’t like that too many people were lusting after his wild cat.
“Malcolm, what should we do now?” Enoch asked cautiously.
“As long as she’s happy, just let her play,” Malcolm said, as if he didn’t care at all.
After all, this loss was nothing to him. “Besides, she doesn’t have much free time left. Let her enjoy it until then,” he thought. C Perhaps this was his way of making up for his past actions.
“I see.” Without saying anything more, Enoch nodded.
“Keep an eye on the situation there. We’ll talk about the rest when I get back.” Malcolm said in a low voice.
“Got it.
“Wildcat, have you missed me in the last month? Did you have time to calm down? Malcolm couldn’t help but wonder as he looked through the photos of her on his phone.
Lucia was much stronger than he had first thought. Even after finding out that their marriage was a transactional one, she had managed to cheer herself up in such a short time. Malcolm knew this couldn’t be an easy thing for a woman.
‘Wildcat, you’re going to get stronger and stronger,’ he thought with a sigh.
Alexander’s cold night was enveloped in a layer of warmth because of Malcolm’s desire for Lucia.
