I g***n and hide my face in my hands. “I take it your dad is not someone that likes vampires very much, huh?” Jeremiah asked. That was an understatement. “Out of all three of our dads… the eldest, Alpha Leo, is known throughout our pack for his dislike of vampires. There is only one vampire that he has come to tolerate and he lives in our pack house with us.” I said. Jeremiah’s eyes flash between red and green at the mention of another vampire living in our pack house.

“His name is Anthony and he is around our age. We found him in the mountains after hunters had slaughtered his entire clan.” I said. “Yeah, Mel and mom were the ones that got dad to accept him into our pack and he has been a great friend.” EJ said. TJ was snicker at how my vampire mate was showing his possessiveness the same way a werewolf mate does. “But we will cross that bridge when we come to it. Though I do need to speak with you about the she-wolves I saw in the cells, Jeremiah.” I said, turning back to face my mate. “Why are they there?”

Jeremiah rubbed the back of his neck. “They are she-wolves that my uncle had brought over from the USA. He said that they were rogues and matless, so he brought them here to be used as slaves.” I growled. Jeremiah grabbed my hand and rubbed circles on the back with his thumb. “I promise you they were never used like that. I am only holding them down there so they did not cause trouble. I have heard how troublesome rogues can be for their own kind, so I tried to keep them out of trouble.” I nodded and breathed a sigh of relief. At least they were not mistreated, now I understood what Robert meant when he said about them being treated in an ‘ok’ manner.

“Your uncle lied. Those she-wolves were sold and separated from their mates. Some rogues were using them as leverage to control their mates into doing what they wanted.” I told him. Jeremiah snarled. “Do you think Hector’s mate is here, Mel?” TJ asked. I was hopeful, but always wanted to be certain. “Possibly.” I looked back at Jeremiah. “Can we please take them back to the US?” I asked. Before Jeremiah could answer me, EJ cut in. “Whoa there sis. Where would we put them? We can’t just let them run free once we get back.”

I looked at him and smiled. “I know that. I need to check my email, but I already emailed Uncle Raphael and Uncle Roy about depending on how many rogue she-wolves we find here in Russia. If we could split them into groups and house them in their pack lands until we can locate their mates or deem them as not a threat. Plus if they are not a threat, then we let them choose to return to a life as a free rogue or to join a pack.” I said in a sassy tone to my brothers. I may be the youngest, but I like to believe I am still smart enough to plan stuff like this ahead, and it looks like it would come in handy.

Seeing as I would help Luca look after all the werewolf packs in North America and help Jeremiah with the vampires, I see that I will be very busy already and I still have one more mate to find. “Hey Jeremiah, to be the queen will I have to stay in Russia?” I asked. He smiled and without missing a beat shook his head. “No, we can rule the vampires from anywhere you desire. I just stayed in Russia because I like the cold and snow, plus this is where I was born. Besides, vampires are used to moving around from place to place, since we don’t age.” “Oh yeah. I heard of vampires doing that. Mostly the ones that interact with humans the most tend to have a cycle of when they moved to a new town, or technelly move back, and some even have a cycle of towns planned out.” Zezar said, with amusement.

“So I’ve been thinking Mel, how does Artemis feel about Jeremiah and his vampire?” Luca asked me. I looked down. “Artemis is dormant right now. I can feel her, but she is too weak to connect with me. That silver really did a number on us and I pushed my body way too hard. It might be a few days before I can connect with her again.” My mates and brothers looked murderous. Even Zezar was visibly upset. Whoever that poor bastard was that stabbed me in Jeremiah’s office, he would only be so lucky to have a quick death. My brothers and I were kind with a sense of justice, but we were still of alpha b***d. We had to do things that I’m sure most human’s find unpleasant. Even if our fathers try to keep it so we would need to do it. I have heard some alphas get the taste of b***d and start to crave it to where they go farel.

“When I find my uncle, I will peel the skin from his flesh and chain him out in the sun.” Jeremiah said in a voice that seemed to be a mixture of his and Logan’s voice. I don’t know what it really was but it sent a shiver down my spine. Wait…. Did he say his uncle? “Your uncle was the jackass that stabbed me?!” I asked in surprise. Jeremiah nodded. “Yes, but I don’t know what he used to somehow teleport away. There is no scent or anything to track.” Jeremiah said. “Oh, so it was a device he used. All I saw after he stabbed me was a blinding light and the smell of rotting flesh was gone.” Zezar stood up from where he was leaning on the wall and had just been listening to everything so far.

“Melody, are you sure that you smelled rotting flesh and saw a flash of light?” Zezar asked. I nodded. “Yes. Why?” Zezar clenched his hands into fists and looked at me. “It means that Jeremiah’s uncle is either working with or working for an alchemist. That could explain the device used to teleport away.” He said. I saw hatred in his eyes. Zezar was quiet, but in the short time I knowen him he has never shown any hate in his eye or tone of voice. “I take it that alchemists are not your favorite kind of people?” I asked. Zezar took a deep breath. “Most don’t bother me, but some are delusional and waste their talents. Sometimes it feels like they mock witches and warlocks with their antics sometimes.”

“Ok, so what would this have to do with the smell of rotting flesh?” EJ asked. “And how come I couldn’t smell it?” Jeremiah asked. “Well if I was to guess, whoever is mixed up with your uncle wasn’t expecting werewolves to be near him, much less an alpha, and only masked the scent for vampires.” Zezar thought. “That could be true, werewolf’s sense of smell and hearing were better than vampires.” Luca commented. “But vampires have better night vision than we do in our human forms.” TJ said. “The smell of rotting flesh usually means that the alchemist is dealing with horrible things. Like for example, bring someone back from the dead. The smell is like a brand for them, it is not something they can get rid of completely.”

“Wouldn’t that be a good thing?” TJ asked. Zezar shook his head. “Even with magic it is not possible. Plus the whole world, both mortal and supernatural, revolves around equivalent exchange. Even more so with magic and alchemy.” “What is the equivalent exchange?” I asked. “The equivalent exchange is what is called when someone makes a deal of some kind. To obtain something, something of equal value must be lost.” I gasped at what he was saying. “So for example if I wanted to bring someone back to life, someone would have had to die?” Jeremiah asked, with his hand on his chin.

Zezar moved his hands like a scale, as if to say yes and no. “It honestly depends on what they are doing. No one would know what the price is until it’s too late.” He said. Then he looked at me. “If they find out about you being the Moon Princess, Melody, then they will come after you.” This made Luca and Jeremiah both growl. “Well that’s swell. So what should we do?” I asked. “For now you rest and get your strength back up. Ethan and Terrance will help me organize the she-wolves in the cells, see if we can find out more about how they got here and what they were told. If we can find out more about them, then it might make it easier to locate their mates so we can reunite them.” Luca said. EJ and TJ nodded.

“I will help his majesty with tracking his uncle. If we are lucky his uncle was too foolish to realize that you were a true female alpha before he left.” Zezar says. “You can just call me Jeremiah.” He said. Zezar nodded. “Well get some sleep baby sis.” EJ said as he and TJ helped me lay back down and tuck me in. “We will see ya in the morning.” TJ said with a grin. “I had some room prepared for you.” Jeremiah said and the guys all nodded. After everyone exchanged ‘good nights’ they all left for their rooms. I closed my eyes and allowed myself to fall into darkness once again.

Lester’s POV (Jeremiah’s uncle)

‘Damn that b***h was strong for a young pup.’ I thought to myself as I walked. “Haha look who is also doing the walk of shame. You couldn’t convince that nephew of yours to marry that pathetic girl?” the most annoying voice echoed in the underground tunnels. I looked over and saw Jayde leaning against the wall. “Oh shut up you little b***h. Like you were any better with how things ended with your pack.” I hissed at her. She growled at me. “Like I was supposed to know that little sult was able to talke to my wolf or that her mother could tell I was lying.” She growled out.

“Tell me about it, I just got thrown up to a wall by a young pup. She was stronger than any she-wolf I ever encountered.” I said. Jayde laughed then she sniffed the air. In a flash she was next to me, sniffing my clothes. “What the hell are you doing?” I roared at her as I pushed her away. “YOU SMELL LIKE THAT LITTLE b***h!!” She roared back. “What are you talking about?” I asked, putting some distance between us. Jayde crossed her arms. “Did she have white hair, blue eyes, and was tall for a she-wolf?” She asked.

I thought for a moment. “Yes… that actually does describe her.” I replied. “That is the same little b***h that ruined my plans with Luca! Her name is Melody and her parents are the alphas and luna of Raven Moon pack.” Jayde said, pure hatred in her eye for this girl. Though I know there was no way in hell that Jayde would be able to beat her, especially since her wolf was still fighting her. “Tell me more about this Melody she wolf.” A voice came from the dark shadow of the tunnel.

Jayde and I both froze. I felt a shiver go down my spine, and not in a good way. We both turned to face the person behind the voice. He had a wicked smile on his face and a gleam in his eyes. “This she-wolf sounds interesting, so tell me more about her.” he said.
