Episode 29

Melody’s POV

*Two weeks later*

Doctor Anna is doing a final check on my vitals, then I will finally be released from the clinic. Artemis is energetic as ever. I can’t wait to go for a run. For the last two weeks I have been under house arrest by the doc… while my brothers, my mates, and Zezar took care of everything. I really need to stretch my legs and train a bit. “Now Melody, I need you to take it easy. No fighting for at least another week, but you can do some LIGHT training.” Anna said, stressing out the light pretty clear. “Ok Anna, I will try my best to keep training light as much as possible.” I said, with an innocent smile.

I will try, but I never make promises I couldn’t keep. She left me to get changed. My brothers had gone back to our cottage and gotten our things, since Jeremiah insisted that we all stay here in his castle. I put on some black jeans that hugged my h**s, but were loose on my legs, and reached for my shirt as the door swings open. “AUNTY!” two little girls scream as they jump and tackle me onto the floor. “Whoa, hold on, be careful.” I manage to say before we end up on the floor. The girls land on top of me and are giggling up a storm.

“Ok, ow.” I said before I started to giggle with them. Victoria and Amilia were Robert and Anna’s daughters. They had been to visit me everyday that I was in the clinic and were over the moon when they found out I was their Uncle Jeremiah’s mate. Victoria’s smile suddenly turned into a frown. I look at her confused, then I realize she is looking right at my shoulder. The silver left a very huge scar on my shoulder. I hugged them both close to me. “You are not to blame for this scar, little one. I was careless. Warriors should always be on guard.” I told them in a soft voice. The same voice my mama used when my brothers and I were upset when we were young pups.

“But you got hurt because of me.” Victoria’s voice, no more than a whisper. If not for my werewolf hearing, I would have missed it. “Shhh. It will be ok. This isn’t my first scar, nor will it be my last.” I said and then I set them down and rolled up my left pants leg. I showed them a small scar I got from my first fight with a rogue. It was before I was of age to shift, so it took longer to heal. “Warriors fight to protect, and fighting leads to the chance of getting hurt. Life can be full of pain, but it is those that we hold close to our hearts that makes the pain go away.” I give them a smile and they seem to feel better. They smile back at me and laugh as I finish getting dressed.

We leave and run into Luca and Jeremiah. “Hey guys, how has everything been going?” I asked. Luca smiled and Jeremiah frowned. I guess he was having a hard time figuring out how to track his uncle down. “So far things have been going good on my end. All of the she-wolves have been sorted into which one will go to which pack, and sent off. Each pack will send an alpha and beta so they stay in line until everything else settles.” Luca said. “So far everything Zezar and I have tried has led us to a dead end. Whoever this alchemist is, they are very good at covering up their tracks.” Jeremiah said. I nodded to both of them as we walked to the dining room.

As soon as we got into the dining room, my brothers, Zezar, and the red haired girl I once met in Jeremiah’s office that day were sitting and eating. I sat down between my mates and across from the young woman. She looked at me with her pretty hazel eyes and smiled timidly at me before she lowered her eyes again. While Luca was fixing a plate for me, I closed my eyes and used Artemis to open the link. There in the void of space, were two versions of the same girl. One with the same hazel eyes and one with bright red eyes. The bright red eyes told me one was her inner vampire. She stood in front of her human version in a protective stance, hissing at me. Artemis began to growl, but I quieted her

I noticed that her human side inside her own mind is just as timid and frightened as she is outside this void, and her vampire version is protective over her. ‘My name is Melody and this is Artemis. May I ask who you are?’ I asked in the most gentle tone I could. ‘S-s-sonia, m-m-mises-stress.’ her human side stammered out. I knelt down to the ground and Artemis laid down, showing her that she doesn’t need to be afraid of us. ‘You can just call me Melody.’ I told her with a smile. ‘What do you want?’ her vampire side hissed out.

‘I want to know how you feel. You seem so scared and I worry about you.” I say. Smiling at both of them. ‘Why would you worry, you don’t even know us.’ Her vampire spat. ‘C-c-carla, B-b-be n-n-nice.” Sonia stuttered. I decided to play a bold move. I stood up and walked over to the two of them. Carla got on the defensive and Sonia cowarded more into a ball. Once I was in arms length, I grabbed them both into a tight hug. ‘I may not know you, but I can see you are in pain. I am not promising that I can take it all away, but I can listen whenever you need me to.’ I felt both of them relax a bit into my hug.

‘I will not force for answers right now, so I will wait until you are ready to talk.’ I smiled and broke the connection. I open my eyes to Jeremiah and Luca waving their hands in front of my face. “Whoa, why are you doing that?” I asked with surprise. EJ and TJ start laughing their heads off. “They got worried when you wouldn’t answer them.” EJ said. “We tried to tell them that you were connecting to someone, but they wouldn’t listen.” TJ added. I rolled my eyes and laughed along with them. Stealing a glance at Sonia, I saw her having a small smile on her face.

Sonia’s POV

‘She was nice to us Carla.’ I actually say without stuttering. My vampire, Carla, is the only one I have ever been able to talk to without stuttering. ‘Yeah, I can tell she has a good heart and soul. Though I just don’t want us to get hurt again.’ Carla replied. I mentally nod. After what master Lester did to our mate and to us. I became nothing more than a puppet for him. Though when he left me in the office that day. I was surprised that the king didn’t just throw me into the cells or kill me right off the bat after the master had stabbed this young woman. I feel like I will open up to her and aid her in any way I can. Plus it is not everyday that Carla says something good about someone. She has given me a new purpose to live for, since Nate’s death. I will learn to be stronger and not waste this.

Two days Later…

Leo’s POV

“Hey. Ethan just called. They are on their way here from the airport.” Jess says as she walks into the library. “That is great.” Zero said, as he snapped the book in his hands shut. “I am excited to meet our little girl’s new mate. Curious on why she wouldn’t tell us over the phone though.” Hero chimed in from his seat on the window. Since the kids had left we have been looking into anything related to the Moon Princess legend, but there is no telling what kind of mates she would have.

She could have met a warlock or a weretiger out in Russia. ‘You are forgetting the possibility of a vampire.’ Fang growled out. ‘No, I hardly doubt the Moon Goddess would pair her with a vampire.’ I snarled back. I take a deep breath to calm myself. “Leo… Are you alright?” Jess asked. “I will be ok. I just wish I could prepare myself for what kind of creature was mated to our daughter.” I said. Jess gazed at me with her bright blue-green eyes. “I am sure no matter what, he will protect our little girl.” She said confidently.

“He is just worried it will be a vampire.” Zero huffed. I glared at him. He needs to mind his own business. “There are good vampires in the world, you know.” Hero said. I knew that, but when I was young I saw a vampire actually slaughter a whole army of his own kind with no mercy. If he could do that, then how would he treat his mate and offspring? I thought to myself. Jess’s phone buzzes and she reads the screen. “Oh they are pulling in, let’s go meet them at the door.” She said excitedly. We head to the door.

We see their car pulling in. The boys and Zezar climb out first. Then it was Luca and Melody. When the last was coming out I was feeling uneasy. Fang was trying to calm me down. Funny how this time he was trying to calm me down, when it is usually the other way around. As soon as I saw his face. My heart stopped for a second. He looked exactly like the same vampire that had killed his own. I lost it. Before I could think of anything, I shifted and was charging towards him.

Melody’s POV

“So please be prepared Jeremiah. My dad, Alpha Leo, is known for his dislike of vampires. I hope you don’t get offended.” I say with a sigh. Even if he is ok with Anthony, I worry how dad would feel about a royal vampire. There are so many rumors that make them out to be horrible murders. Jeremiah takes my hand in his and k****s the back of it. “I will be fine. One of the perks of living as long as I have, you no longer care what most people think of you. Though even if your whole family hated me, I would still be with you.” She said with a smirk.

I felt my cheek heating up. I hear g****s, and look at my brothers rolling their eyes. “Can’t you save the mushy stuff for later?” EJ asks. “Yeah, that is our baby sister and we don’t need to see her make out with her mates.” TJ added. Zezar is snickering and Luca looks over at Jeremiah. Then at the same time, Jeremiah and Luca both kissed each of my cheeks with a big kissy sound. My brothers act like they need to bleach out their eyes and everyone in the car starts laughing their asses off.

We finally get back to the house and see our parents standing outside. We start to climb out of the car, but as soon as Jeremiah is out of the car. We hear a loud roar and I turn to see dad charging at Jeremiah in wolf form. ‘ARTEMIS!’ I yelled through our link and we quickly shifted, tearing through my clothes. I use my body and ram into my dad’s body, sending us rolling. I heard everyone yelling, but I was too focused on dad to hear what they were saying.

I caught a glimpse of dad’s eyes as we rolled. He was in a feral state. He was blinded by pure rage now. ‘Artemis, let us try and pin him down.’ I told her. ‘Okay.’ she replied. We tried to pin him, but since he was blinded by rage he only saw us as a wolf defying an alpha. He snapped his jaws and got my left front leg. I let Artemis have full control as this turned into an all out dog fight. We had to either tire him out or pin him down.

Just then someone else rammed into both me and dad separating us and one pinning dad to the ground. Mama and Papa’s wolves stood between dad and I, while daddy’s wolf was pinning dad to the ground. Papa came over to me, checking me for any injuries. I stood up and nuzzled into his wolf. Mama growled loudly and it seemed to snap dad out of his little frenzy. ‘WHAT THE ACTUALLY HELL ARE YOU DOING LEO?!’ Mama roared. ‘I am so sorry Melody, I didn’t mean to lose control like that.’ dad said. Before I could say anything, mama growled at him again. ‘Inside now. We will get dressed and have a meeting in your office about this.’ She snarled as she walked away. Papa nudged me to follow mama. ‘You go sweetheart, daddy and I are going to have a talk with him before we head in.’ Papa said. I nod and follow mama back to the house.
