After Riley’s little outburst. King Alfred went right into detail on how the ceremony would go. “So it is to start in the morning, and the reception right afterwards tomorrow… correct?” I asked, making sure I understood. “Yes. The sunrise is a symbol of a new beginning of everyday life, so it is tradition to hold the ceremony in the morning at dawn and party until the following day.” Queen Lisa explained. I nodded in understanding. “Well it looks like the boys are sleeping in their own rooms tonight.” I stated. My mates g*****d. “Oh no. I am not waking up tomorrow sore and aching because of you three again. Riley, you will be in my room tonight, so there is no funny business.”

Riley grinned and bowed her head. “Of course, M’lady.” My mates immediately stopped complaining about the sleeping arrangements. “As customary, around dinner time we will be receiving the alphas from all the packs in our kingdom. Some may be accompanied by their betas, but you will only need to greet the alphas.” King Alfred said. Luca and I both nodded. “Oh King Alfred, before I forget. I have someone coming here from Raven Moon. He wanted to be here, but wasn’t sure if he would finish his work on time. So he didn’t want me saying anything until he was sure. His name is Anthony and he is a vampire. I would request that you allow him into your territory when he arrives.” Mama spoke clearly and politely. She has gotten good at hiding her bad a*s b***h side since she had to deal with high ranking members more than me.

“Oh so that is where he has been.” TJ commented. “Yeah, I was wondering why he wasn’t at the pack house when we returned from Russia.” EJ added. King Alfred cleared his throat. “Yes of course. Thank you for letting me know, Lady Jessabelle.” He replied calmly, but his eyes kept nervously flicking over to Riley who had started doing one handed push ups in the corner of the office. “Okay so we have a few hours before dinner, so why don’t we go get ready… Melody please help Riley into one of her new dresses?” Mama asked. Riley seemed to have lost her balance when mama mentioned that. “What? A dress? Do I really have to wear that?” She whined. We all chuckled. It was pretty cute seeing Riley and Kai act their age and grumble about formal wear. “Yes you do. It is a formal occasion. Trust me, I don’t enjoy it either.” Mama said, while patting her shoulder. Riley and Kai sighed. “Yes ma’am.” They said in unison.

Once Riley and I got to our room we opened our suitcases and laid out something nice to wear for dinner. “Now let’s take a bath.” I said. I decided to bathe with Riley in the bath tub since she was still learning how to work it. She is pretty quick to learn. She washed my back for me and messaged my aching shoulders. It kind of felt like when Lilly and I used to bathe together when we were young pups. “So Riley, do you mind if I ask more about your family back in your world?” I asked in a cautious voice. I had to be careful. Riley and Kai were always honest, but something inside me told me that they had it rough in their world.

“I don’t mind at all. What would you like to know?” She asked as she washed her hair. “Well how big was your family?” I asked. “B***d related or family in general?” She asked. “Both.” She nodded. “Ok, well for the b***d family relations, it is only mother, Kai, and I. As far as we know, mother never had siblings and her parents died before we were born.” “Ok and family in general?” I asked. “Well we considered mothers only friends to be our aunts and uncles. We were all kind of the black sheeps of our clans.” Riley said, then she dunked her head under the water to rise off the soap.

“Your clans?” I asked when she popped back up. “Yup. Mother, Aunt Natalia, and Aunt Kayla are even more special because there is no one with beast souls like them. Aunt Ren is a siren, Aunt Grace is from the giant clan, Uncle Robin is from the fairy kingdom, and Uncle Parker is pretty much like Miss Shianna. Half wizard and half wolf.” “Did you not have any cousins?” Riley shook her head. “No, other than mother, no one has ever found their mates.” I nod and we finish our bath and dry off. I helped Riley wrap a towel around her wet hair so it was out of the way as we got her into her dress.

Right after we got our dresses on and started drying our hair, there was a knock on the door. “Who is it?” I called out. “Your favorite aunt.” A voice called back. I recognized it and rushed to the door. Opening it and seeing my Uncle Alex and Aunt Selena with big smiles on their faces. “Uncle Alex! Aunt Selena!” I jumped into their arms and hugged them both tight. “Oh congratulations Melody. Not only finding your mate, but three of them.” Aunt Selena said with a smirk. Uncle Alex rolled his eyes. “Ok, I am gonna cut that conversation off right now. That is for your girl talk ‘alone’.” He grumbled. Aunt Selena and I giggle. “Hey I don’t need to know about males putting their hands on my little niece or my sister. How would you feel about it if your brothers’ mate told you every detail of their mating play?” Uncle Alex asked me with a raised eyebrow. I thought for a moment and then cringed. “Yeah, I don’t need to know about my brothers doing the dirty deed when they find their mate.” I commented.

“Who is that?” Aunt Selena asked as she peeked into the room. I turned my head and saw Riley eyeing Uncle Alex and Aunt Selena like they were potential threats. “Oh that is Riley. One of my guardians from another world. Riley, come say ‘hello’ to my aunt and uncle.” I called for her. She came closer, keeping her eyes locked on Uncle Alex the most. “Hello.” Riley said, and bowed at the waist. Though when she bowed, her towel that was wrapped around her hair fell and her pretty pink hair fell all in her face. Though when she stood back up straight, she ignored her hair going everywhere and resumed to just watching us again. “She seems so young, yet so adult-like at the sametime.” Aunt Selena stated. “I was trained from a very young age, ma’am. Being a guardian is a tough duty, but it is a high honor in my world.” Riley said, fully confident and composed. Like how I have seen Aunt Sasha and Uncle Rico talk to my fathers.

“Yes, but you are here now, Riley. This is my Uncle Alex and his mate Selena. Uncle Alex is mama’s older twin brother.” I told her. All Riley did was nod. I rubbed the back of my neck, not really knowing how to ease her suspicions. Then Aunt Selena’s eyes lit up. “Oh sweetie, would it be ok if I came into the room and we can have some girl time. I would love to dress up your hair for you.” Riley looked over to me. She was silently asking me if this was what I wanted. I smiled and nodded. I would hate for Riley and Kai to be on edge with my family. This would be a good way for them to get to know them bit by bit.

“Sure that sounds great Aunt Selena, and Kai is with EJ and TJ if you would like to go say ‘hi’, Uncle Alex.” I said with a comforting smile. Uncle Alex smiled back and nodded. “Sure I will go do that. You girls have fun.” He kissed Aunt Selena and walked down the hall. Aunt Selena came inside and closed the door. “Now let us brush this beautiful hair, Riley.” Riley sniffed Aunt Selena and seemed to relax. She smiled and nodded. As Aunt Selena brushed Riley’s hair, I went back to asking questions about Riley’s old world while I did my own hair.

“So back to what we were talking about Riley… What did you do besides train?” Riley fiddled with her fingers. “Nothing much. Training and learning everyday chores was about it for us.” She said. “You never played with any of the other children in your village?” I asked. “No.” “Why not sweetie? You seem so sweet and a good girl.” Aunt Selena said as she braided flowers into Riley’s hair. “Most adults looked at Kai and I liked that we were something wrong, so most of the children would either try to bully us or ignore us.” “What?!” I shouted. How could anyone treat them like that? “Most of the beast humans in our village believed that it was mine and Kai’s fault for mother losing her mate. “We were nothing but bastards in their eyes.” She said, with little to no emotion.

“Honestly, being around the kids in your pack was the closest that Kai and I ever had to real friends closer to our own age. Our family were already grown ups, so even though they would play kid games with us… it just wasn’t the same as having actual friends.” She added. Aunt Selena finished Riley’s hair and hugged her close from behind. “You poor dear. You never got to really be a child.” She said as she squeezed Riley. “It is ok ma’am. It is just how things are in our old world, now we have to learn everything in this world. Main thing is not exposing ourselves to humans… Since back home, beast humans and normal humans co-existed together knowingly.” Aunt Selena giggled a bit. “You sure just go with the flow, don’t ya?” She asked. “I can only control how I am. Though as long as people don’t judge my duty as a guardian then all should be well.” Riley said with a smile. I laughed and told Aunt Selena about how little Riley has so far put two strong and powerful men down to their knees when they question her abilities. She laughed and we headed down to the dinner party.
