Helios’ POV

“Lord Helios.” A nythm called out as she kneels before me. “What?” I barked. I was in a rather foul mood, even though I had slept for the last couple of days. My dreams were plagued with a face I have been trying to get out of my head for the last 10, 000 years. “Lord Hephaestus has asked me to enlighten you that the item you requested is finished and ready for your approval.” The nythm said. I perked up immediately. “Inform Hephaestus that I will be there in a moment.” I instructed her as I got up.

She bowed and left without saying another word. I changed and walked over to Hephaestus’ workshop. As I walked in I saw that Hephaestus was polishing and putting the finishing touches on a wonderful and beautiful golden jian sword. I could tell that he used black iron for the details and the engraved scriptures. “Here you go, Helios. A sword that was made to your specific request. All that is left for you to do is name it.” Hephaestus said as he handed the sword to me. I gripped the handle and gently touched the blade. As soon as I touched the blade, that woman’s face ran through my head once again. “And only I can reverse its effects on the mortal world, correct?” I asked.

Hephaestus nodded. “Yes. Only you or one of your descendants can undo the effect of the sword.” he clarified. I smiled as I looked at the blade. “Perfect.” I muttered. I had no children in the mortal world like other gods, so if I deemed this little moon princess a failure on my test then there would be no hope for her. “So what name will you give the sword. I will engrave it onto the sword’s sheath.” Hephaestus said as he held the sheath in one hand and one of his tools in the other. I looked back at the blade… again I saw that woman’s face again. ‘Why can I not get that damn woman out of my head?!’ I thought to myself.

Without realizing I said her name aloud and Hephaestus engraved it onto the sheath of the sword. I didn’t realize it until I slid the sword into its sheath. I had named the sword, Rhitta.

Selene’s POV

I was watching Jasmine and the others travel to Edolas through the spring. “Sister?” I heard a soft voice call from behind me. I turned to see Eos coming to stand next to me. She peered into the spring. “She has grown so strong in such a short time.” Eos commented. I smiled and nodded. “Yes, but you are here to ask me if we should tell Helios about her, are you not?” I asked her in return. Eos nodded. She was not fond of the secret we were keeping from him, but it was the dying wish of our best friend thousands of years ago. She requested that we watch over her bloodline, but never reveal the truth to Helios.

“It is not our secret to tell. Fate will reveal it to our brother when the time is right. Even as gods we can not dictate the flow of fate.” I remind her. Eos thinks it will be so easy to tell Helios about Rhitta’s dying words, but the fates reveal that the secrets in the shadows will eventually come into the light when the time is right. So Eos and I promised Rhitta that we would watch over her bloodline and Helios without saying a word until the time was right.
