Love beyond the mask ( Whitney ) -
Chapter 882
"I like her, and what's it to you? You're not my fiancée anymore."
Parker didn't deny it, his thin lips forming a cold line, "Endora, if you had any sense, you wouldn't be so shameless. Keeping on pestering me like this, I'll have no choice but to cut you off without mercy. I've already called my folks to call off our engagement. Don't get yourself ostracized by the Melford family in Banyan City!"
Parker's words were measured, but Endora could sense his icy detachment. She pouted, tears brimming in her eyes, "My love for you is unrequited! No matter how you treat me, I can't give up, because letting go of a love that deep is just too hard. I've come to terms with it, I don't mind that you like Tiana, but... she's pregnant now. I found out at the clinic this morning. I bumped into her at the OB-GYN. I was shocked, too. How could Tiana just get pregnant like that? She's always been so careless... I didn't dare ask her whose it is... Maybe it's your brother Barclay's, huh?"
Parker was beyond listening at this point!
He stormed out of the café, his mind reeling with Endora's words: She's really pregnant! Tiana... how could you, how dare you? Nothing had ever knocked him down before, but now his face was a mask of icy distance, like a walking corpse. With whom, did she sleep?
He kicked the car door in frustration, his fist hitting the metal until his knuckles bled, "Damn it, Tiana. I liked you so much, and you just... what did you take my feelings for?" Parker couldn't bear the blow.
He got into the car, gripping the steering wheel tightly, the vehicle spinning around as if flying on the road. The glaring sunlight filtered through his aviator sunglasses, casting shadows over his sharp nose, his handsome features shadowed with gloom. He refused to believe she had been with another man.
If she had, it had to be with him! Ever since coming back from Saltland Island, he'd been haunted by vivid dreams of her.
The realism of those dreams, where they were intimate, had even made him confront her about it. That night at Delight Mansion, when he stayed over, he almost got some truths out of her. But then Endora ruined everything.
Tiana, that ungrateful woman, even said she didn't like him!
Parker had his pride. He couldn't grovel, so he cut ties and spent the following days bringing down Bryce with Ludwik, tormented by the ordeal.
Now that it was over, and he'd shaken off Endora, he found out... she was pregnant.
Wait...
That day in Tiana's bedroom, when he almost pinned her down, only stopping when Tiana asked if he'd take responsibility if there had been something between them before... Wait!
A thought struck Parker like lightning, nearly causing him to crash into the guardrail.
Why hadn't he considered the deeper meaning behind her question? On Saltland Island... when he was confined by her uncle and lost his memory, could something have happened between them? Could it be that after regaining his memory, he forgot those few days? Was it possible?
He'd heard that some people, after regaining lost memories, forget what happened during the amnesiac period.
If he had been with her, that's why he felt so close to her upon returning to Emperor City.
If he had been with her, and now she was found to be pregnant, that child...
Parker faced the sunlight, suddenly unafraid, his heart filling with excitement and an indescribable emotion...
He floored the accelerator, deciding to give himself another chance, to confront her face-to-face. The child... could it be his?
If so, he was ready to take responsibility, for a lifetime!
In his fantasy, Parker grew more anxious.
Finally reaching the hospital, a slight smile tinged with nervousness on his lips, his tall frame filled with a mix of cool and warm emotions he couldn't quite identify, feeling like he was about to meet his first love. The next moment, he thought he might explode with the heat of his blushing.
If he had been with Tiana, if in some forgotten corner of his memory he had fathered her child...
What a joyous occasion.
His ears reddened, the charming man with glasses drawing looks from the nurses at the reception.
In a flustered manner, Parker asked, "Excuse me, where can I find Tiana, the OB-GYN patient? Tell me, and I'll make it worth your while."
Offering a bribe so openly?!
The nurses hurriedly declined, cheeks flushed as they looked at the incredibly handsome man before them. After some nudging among themselves, one of them spoke, "Miss Tiana is in room 405. Sir, are you here to visit?"
"Isn't she pregnant?" Parker mused, then replied with a smirk, "I might be the father."
"Are you Ms. Melford's boyfriend?"
"Not yet, but maybe soon to be her husband."
Parker was usually reserved, but now, he couldn't stop talking.
He strode towards the ward, feeling for the first time how difficult it was to find room 405.
How should he confront her? Would she be startled, freeze up? After all, they hadn't spoken for weeks due to the fallout with Endora, and she'd been avoiding him!
Parker had convinced himself; he was more and more certain that something had happened between them on Saltland Island, leading to the pregnancy. He knew Tiana wasn't the type to mess around.
As far as he knew, aside from Barclay's pursuit, there weren't any other men around her...
When room 405 came into view, Parker's heart raced!
His lips pressed together, now bright, now anxious, he realized he was finding it even harder to breathe.
Adjusting his leather jacket, the man's slender fingers glided over its snug waist before he raised a hand to his lips, coughing softly. With a gentle push, he opened the door to the hospital room, his voice husky with emotion, "Tiana! You-"
But the next words died in Parker's throat.
The room was spacious, a suite, with a balcony facing the door-
At that moment, Tiana's delicate figure was cornered on the balcony by Barclay. From Parker's viewpoint, it almost looked as if Barclay was holding her close, his head lowered in a leering smile as he dirtily said, "Tiana, you always act so proper, but I didn't expect you to be so wild deep down! But no matter, I'll make sure our baby is born..."
Parker felt all his raging emotions, all his anticipation, freeze in that moment.
'Our baby?'
Had he misheard? Did Barclay misspeak?
